How about the Hudson River Captain Guy Who Saved Those People on the Floating Plane trophy? It could be given to the Super Bowl champion. Yeah, that’s it!
The day an Air Crew and passengers became sailors, and Sailors look after each other on the water - The Ferry crews (There were several ferries rendering assistance) got to them in minutes (This was winter too...the water was freezing). :') Reminds me of the Dunkirk evacuation...so many little boats saving lives :)
Sully has always made a point to mention the flight crew and both professional and amateur first responders as well as the passengers. They're all heroes in their own way.
I keep finding myself back at this story. I get the same feeling everytime. The result is amazing in more ways than you can count. The message to me is always the same - why can't our government be run by people with the same character and resolve as the people who were involved in this story. True to its nature, the main negative force at work here was the NTSB (the gov't). They just could not accept that a real person of character, an intelligent and rational thinking person at the helm made a monumental decision in a matter of 90 sconds, that they couldn't come up with even in hind sight and all of their technology. We do have competent humans in this country - the problem is that none of them are willing to stain themselves by entering the political sewer. FJB & his bureaucrats.
Can someone please explain what is a ferry crew or ferry boat...i do not get out much and dont understand any of who these entities are. What is the job of these ferry boats and where are they located? When i think of 'ferry' i think of like tourist boat ride. Sorry for my ignorance i truly dont know what means ferry boat
Few months later: in layman's terms and this specific context, basically the ferry (boat) is just to move people across the Hudson river either for tourist or work related. The crew obviously operate the boat. It's a manner of convenience so they don't have to deal with the traffic on the bridges or go a long way around the water.
Has the impatient foolish woman who opened the rear cabin door been identified… She could have been responsible for several to many deaths by drowning - dam it !

Great job to the pilots but dont forget the boat captains. If they werent there it would have been alot worse.
