- Acura highlights the story of the restored RealTime Racing #42 Integra Type R and its return to the track. The video highlights the Integra Type R’s original run in near-bone stock form, its dominant performance in the SPEED Touring Car championship, and its return to racing glory.
"Without racing there is no Honda" -Soichiro Honda
He also had another quote that I have not read in 20yrs so I will have to paraphrase. Throughout history Man's greatest innovations came during times of War. When we race we go to War every weekend.
“If it ain’t a Type R then it ain’t a tight caR” haha. Still have my 94 GSR since 2001 with 370,000 miles on the original engine and gearbox!
@plnkfloydian awesome! I'm gonna have to sell mine though, I think. Just can't keep 3 cars at the house with the Miata I just bought. This week I had the odometer stop working, dome light broke, and I found a license plate light with a missing bulb cover, all in the same day.
I have a 2000 gsr plenty fun
@nyhunter256 S. yeah ClutchMasters 8 lb flywheel on mine since about 2003 I think. I've had the same Koni Sport shocks since 2002, over 250,000 miles. Had GC's for a short time, H&R Sport springs, but currently have had the stock GSR front springs and stock ITR rear springs with the Koni perches at the their lowest settings. Been that way since 2005.
Ha! My name is Patrick and I own a 95 GSR with about 250,000 on the engine and tranny. Great minds think alike.
@plnkfloydian I use my 94 gsr every day
I still have my 1998 NSX. Definitely the golden era of Honda.
good job man. i wish i had an nsx.. but ITR is good enough for me :D
Nice dohc
The original SENNA= NSX
You don’t have an NSX. Stop lying
Having a DC2, buying next months a crx Vtec and dreaming about the NsX ! If the prices dont explode next 5 years i will get it 💯
Is this a hint of what is coming down the production line next.
Nah.
They don’t have the bawls
never again brother.. this is one time thing and never would be duplicated .. legend lives on
@@richardburns9772 you mean they don't have the balls
Let’s pray
Folks regularly forget the prowess and force that Honda/Acura once was. It's a pleasure to see Acura publicizing this storied history that all too often goes unnoticed. And you don't get much better than Peter Cunningham, himself!
What are you talking about ?
Honda/Acura still wins Lots of racing around the world
I hate when legendary car manufacturers forget their racing roots.
Honda still is lmao. They are winning in f1 motogp indycar, supergt super formula and imsa
False statement.
Wow!!...............

Seeing Acura getting back into Motorsports really has me excited for what’s to come
A new Type R integra will be dope!
Don’t hold your breathe. 👿
Since when did Acura stop racing?
Wei Wang they haven’t but they’ve gone really good in IMSA these past few years especially in the prototype/DPI class, and they’ve been more involved in regular motor sports (not always participating but being at least involved)
RDX type r coming soon haha I dont think there will ever be another integra/RSX
BRING BACK THE INTEGRA TYPE R
Sanam Jay The regular Integra too lol
Amazing story and beautifully filmed! I still own my original 2000 ITR -- and drive it on the track to this day. I'm going to show her this video right now ! lol
Jonathan Suzuki man I wish I had a itr
Nice to meet fellow itr owners again
H P DOWN in flames. UP in smoke.
Got videos of it????
I have the 2001, can’t let go.
When Acura and Honda built performance vehicles that everyone could afford.
dykuwaify civic si? Type r?
Honda still does
Broke ass
@@HOTPLATEGAMING Well damn not everyone grew up with a golden spoon up their ass.
@@HOTPLATEGAMING usually those who criticise another of financial status, they themselves aren't well off, it's just a mental deflection on how their situation is
The fact that this was put out by Acura themselves is damn cool. Respect.
I plan on watching this many times. :) What a beautiful restoration. As original owner of a 2000 ITR these cars mean a whole lot. The philosophy of the 'R' means a lot as a Honda enthusiast. When RTR took these racing I tuned in to Speedvision/Speed Channel to watch what I considered stock car racing at its best ;)
Absolutely love my s2000 and will keep it until the day I die! I honestly don’t think I’ll be able to buy a modern car with the soul this car has, much like the ITR! Bring back cars with soul!
I'm with you on this John P. I own a 2000 Acura integra ls, even though I don't have the legendary TYPE R I still have heavily modified my ls as much as any one could, b20 built bottom end 12:8.1 compression, Brian Crower head, valves, valve springs, retainers, cams, cam gears, ported ls head. What I'm saying is, even though I don't have a actually TYPE R, I most certainly have the soul of one. Thanks for all the Honda love, and keep taking highway on ramps at 75mph doing 9000rpm in third gear 😋🤗😎😎
Everyone's on craigslist looking for type r's now.
In Cali they go for 10 ro 20 g
michael montalvo that is the fake ones get a real one from Japan it's twice 20g
Spank Themonkey they actually did release in the US .. lmao from 1997 till 2001 limited numbers of course so yes there are real USDM type R integras in the US ...
I miss my Integra Type R.
Me too! I sold my 01 ITR this year.
this is why i never sold mine..still got it since 2001.. Original owner
@@trymonster6670 Amazing!!
Well i have a 2000 gsr dark violet pearl i'm happy with it
“Alright now”.
Bring back real car names! One of the biggest failures Acura has done is get rid of great car names, like Integra, Legend, and Vigor. I still own all three of the Acura's that I purchased new: a '94 GS-R, a '03 TL-S, and a '19 RDX Advance. Precision Crafted Performance is what sold me on the brand, don't forget it!
What do you do for work
Dang my uncle used to compete with real time on speedvision when I was younger. I realized how cool it was back then, but it’s even cooler to see it now. 👍
We want the integra back!
Its gonna be like the new Supra with Bmw engine, it was all about the double wishbone F1 suspension and 1100kg chassis, they just cant build a Integra like this nowdays because of car manufacturer regulations
Thank you guys for taking the time to produce a video like this, shining a light on how great Honda's legacy from the 90's and early 2000's was.
Wonderful video! I appreciate that Acura is recognizing the Integra Type R. I also miss CDM 01-1233.
still proud owner of 01 CDM #1244.. i remember your badge number from somewhere.. most likely honda-tech.com
@@trymonster6670 Original owner posted on Honda tech quite a bit. Owner 5 and myself 6 as well. It was funny reading a few things he did plus his friend traded original red CDM seats for black! Lucky mine still had the reds.
Thanks for bringing the passion back @acura! PD is our hero!
This video awoke the dormant butterflies in my stomach :)
This brought back so much nostalgia. I remember being glued to the TV watching this thing race on SpeedVision when I was a kid.
Michal Galati and pierre kleinubing were unbeatable
I love Honda's heritage and Integra type r has always been my favorite
Just awesome! Hats off to PD the Realtime crew on this. Amazing job. I sure do miss 01-193 and 97-0057!
This is one of the finest recommended videos that I stumbled upon
Still remember recording on VHS tapes this car and all touring car races of this generation.
This just made my Covid 19 Friday! Seeing Peter Cunninghams name on the Type R and NSX again....so great. And a really nice guy on top of it!
Beautiful video, makes yah proud to be a Honda enthusiast 😎 the dc2 is such a special machine . I’ve owned 5 jdm models over the years and loved them all. Only sold up to finally buy my dream Honda. Fd2 civic typeR. Anyways, great video folks.
When Acura has passion and made drivers cars
Acura need to start selling replacement panels for these cars, so we can keep the ones on the road intact.
I loved that era...Honda's golden era. I loved watching the Real time ITR race at Mosport!
Just like old times eh PD?? Love this. Real-time and PD’s team is why I bought my ITR. I always wish I never sold it.
great video! thanks!
Acura/Honda do you see the prices people are paying for DC2 Type R’s now? That’s because there’s a hole. A hole YOU can fill. Bring back the high revving hot hatch. Don’t live in the past with this, make it your future. Make it a high revving proper sports car just like it used to be. Save the MPG’s and CAFE concerns for your cash cows, and make a proper sports car that shows you care for the enthusiasts. High revvinf, manual transmission. Do it to show you still care about making a car that makes you feel something when you drive it.
Get a civic type r. I highly doubt acura will make another sporty entry level car
CRAPO2011 it’s not the same. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an excellent car. But nothing beats a high revving naturally aspirated motor for response and utter aural pleasure. It’s the reason I own an S2000.
@nyhunter256 S. I cant complain honda is the only one still offering a manual in a mid size sedan. Enthusiasts dig cars like the type r and theres not enough enthusiasts hence why theyre best selling models are cross overs
modern day emissions won't allow for an N/A car like these ever again mass production wise
whatisdrugs not true. Case in point: 911 GT3.
BRING HER BACK!!! 2021 TYPE R YES PLEASE!!!! I know I'd buy one.
Congrats on the successful resurrection of an awesome car. It's been fun to watch the build progress on social media and is great timing with RealTime's recent successes as well!
I'm 24 and i've owned 5 cars. my first 3 were integra LSs, and I currently own an integra GSR and an RS. I can't bring myself to drive anything else. I'm genuinely in love with this car lol
I had a 1997 ITR and really enjoyed it. It was ahead of its time and an incredible package from the factory. So nice to see its spirit lives on and is a dominant force.
Nice job Peter, RTR did a great job on the car and the video editing, beautifully done.
As soon as I knew Cunningham was behind the wheel I was SCREAMING!! Thank you Acura for looking at the past; the best thing you can do for reference as you progress.
Love to see old race cars brought back to life! I remember this type R
I love the integra type r, such a legendary car!
........absolutely miss seeing this car in my rear view mirror, passing by, and pulling away............I actually shed some tears there. Completely regret getting away from Motorsport in 2001.
Great memories. Have pics of the team cars at Texas Motor Speedway. Too bad Speedvison was bought out what a fantastic showcase for road racing that was. Thanks for the upload.
Awesome! Brings me back to the days watching the race series on SpeedTV(Speed Vision)!...Great Job!
Imagine owning a low mileage Championship White Integra Type R. Heaven.
Remember when Acura made cool cars? #gsrgrandma
A dude who lives down the street from me has one in white that's in outstanding condition. What a beautiful piece of engineering this car is.
Honda trust me your fans are still here, it just takes more to intensify our love for your machines.
It was awesome to see the driver putting the teggy through its paces and smoking some of those other cars for the win! FWD all day baby!
Owned a 1995 GSR. Still one of my favorite rides ever. I loved the look I got beating Corvettes off the line.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I miss my '98 ITR everyday. I saw RTR race back then at RA. I visited the RTR shop also. Awesome memories
still got my 2001 itr :D
That Acura is one of my favorites.
I still remember the day I got to PDI the first 97 Integra Type R we got at the dealership. I took pictures of it then did the PDI. The customer did not want the A/C installed but did purchase the kit if he decided to want it later. Pretty special car. Left the dealership/brand in 2014 as Acura had seemed to lost its way with its product.
Glorious! I have always enjoyed the howling red line, lightweight and exceptional engineering with simple execution.
Those were the days, RTR winning the World Challenge with the Type R's. PD Cunningham and Pierre Kleinubiing. Look up the race at Mosport when Kleinubing went off track and then recovered incredibly.
Wisconsin-Built Realtime Integra Type-R dominating Wisconsin's own Road America! I loved watching Speedvision's touring series so much I bought a brand new 0 mile '01 spec Integra Type-R engine(B18c5) from Wisconsin's King Motorsports for my '92 Integra GSR. Used a Mugen Gymkhana-spec 4-2-1 exhaust manifold to clear the front crossmember of the DB2 chassis. Power steering and air conditioning were removed for more power and weight reduction/better handling.
Loved watching this car race back in the day. Miss my own 2000 PY ITR.
Sick
Im a big fan of integra type R..love from Philipines
Honda doesn't make them like this anymore. What a great car 👍
Gotta love the DC2! Great overall looking handling car. One of the best that has come out of Japan. Great video and driving.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing. Love my 1994 Integra GSR!!
Respect to all the Honda owners for keeping it real with the B16,18,20 engines and the K series in the proper DC,FD chassis. Love all of you.
Owned a lot of cars over the years. My 01 Itr has been my favourite. Great video!
Please bring back the integra's.
Sooo glad to own an Integra 😎 B20B Vtec GSR Transmisson cool little two step. Love the Honda/Acura integra!
Miss my Teggy... Thanks for this video! It literally gave me goosebumps and I teared up a bit.. God that was a good car...
You've lost your vision Acura... You recent offerings to the masses have been pathetic. Go back to your roots like you portray in this video.
Vlican roots? As in a a clearly civic based integra? Lol . They are in racing still too
@@ciello___8307 I think he's referring to having 9k screaming n/a engines.......
Honestly I see where you're coming from, but Acura (Not so much Honda anymore) is really stepping their game up compared to other brands. The new NSX isn't much like the original so the name doesn't fit, but nonetheless it's a seriously sick and innovative supercar for a relatively cheap price tag compared to its competition, and the new Type S (even if it's still a concept at the moment) is definitely tight compared to pretty much every other Japanese 4 door on the market today (Save for maybe Mazda's lineup.) Just be glad they haven't electrified their lineup.
@@liamward9337 the nsx is a honda
@@liamward9337 acura is honda they are the same
We want another Integra! It has the biggest following out of any of your vehicles ever made besides the NSX! Bring us back the Teg and Teg Type R like you did with the NSX.
Really enjoyed this. Bring back the 04 tsx !
Proud of owning a 1997 USDM TypeR #88 🏎💨
Bring back the Integra, use the current Civic type r motor, and Acuras SH-AWD.
no you wanna use a 4banger production's 450 + whp 2.7L n/a K series in it.
No awd
Del Sol targa type platform, rear mid engine, double wish bone, aluminum/titanium/magnesium bits, brembo, ohlins, recaros, with the new CTR engine or F20C. They can call it, the NSX Lite R.
I should elaborate, ideally FWD like the original Integra was, but I said AWD for a few reasons
1. in some dumb blind hope that no one at Acura had thought about bringing back the Integra name, and Sparks the remake of the platform (p.s. if you work at Acura and this happens and you want to give me a free new Integra type r, I wouldn't complain)
2. Honda already has the Civic type R. And the Integra was killed off because it was taking sells from the civic sales. So it would have to be a car in a different class
3. Acura already has and loves to showcase there super handling AWD system.
So if Acura brought back the Integra, offered a LS model with the 1.6T, GSR with the k20c1, and later offer a Type R model with a hyped up version with a similar set up as the current NSX's hybrid system, adding a 20-50 HP bump to the rear wheels (as the Integra Type R always has had more power them the Civic Type R counterpart). All models have the SH-AWD system.
Offering the LS and GSR in stick or auto(auto so they actually sell enough cars to make money) and they Type R model as stick only.
Now there's a new car on the market to compleat with the STI, fill the spot the focus RS is leaving, and people would actually buy them
@@aaronschmitt2120 i get your opinion but look at the new nsx. The old one was rear wheel drive..now it's awd. It's really great but it lost the spirit of the old one. The civic type r current model kept it fwd and does the same as the old one like breaking track record but now even more comfortable
I bought a 1990 integra ls for my first car back in 2005. Owned a 1996 ls and 1995 gsr also. I love these cars and I don't use the word love lightly.
Reeled that 911 in like he was passing a tractor 😅. The sound oh man the sound!
Integra for life 😍
Awesome!!
OMG 😳 she is BACK BABY !!!!!
Peter Cunningham is a walking legend
So much nostalgia. I miss seeing these kind of cars
terrific vid, love it! great car
Such a great car. I always wanted a type r back in the day, but was never able to get one.
I had a type r when I was 17 years old in high school in 2004 fun car to drive and race mine was a 2001 model black #0046, It got stolen in Dallas, TX only the shell was recovered and sold it to a friend who still has it
total balance
Currently own an original 2001 integra GSR hopefully will get my hands on a type R one day! 🙏🏽
The realtime itr was my fav to watch on tv..
Still one of Honda/Acura's greatest cars of all time. Too bad the Type R will never again be in Acura's future lineup it will be forever missed.
Honda/Acura needs to starts a classic restoration program for the integras and other storied cars at the dealership
Now this is...racing.
We want Honda to reproduce this car!!!
WOW Very nice 👍 I have owned (4) 3 door Integras 2 GSR, 2 LS, and a 94 Vigor GS. I just bought my 95 GSR back today, its staying stock to preserve the legacy. Im turning my 96 LS into a 1:1 Type R clone. My fastest was my 01 GSR turbo W/LSD done right 10sec car.
😍😍😍 I love the bug eye Acura integra
When SPEED channel was showing NASCAR we got glimpses of this Car.. Memories
WOw it came back to life !!!!! that is amazing !! and again. make me appreciate my integra type r even more.
and i can't believe they kept the B18c5 in it still .. i would thought they would go k series ..
i see that alot of you guys sold your itr's.. what in the world were you thinking?? unless you are the guy who just sold one for 84000 usd.. than bravo to you
I wish to pass one of this to my children and grandchildren one day.
Sad Acura doesn't make anything exciting like this anymore.
I remembered Pierre K . racing that TSX Real time Acura smoking everything out there. Respect for audis and bimmers
The 8 folks that disliked this video got smoked by a honda
Something to be said about the winning-est car ever.
