Yesterday I had brought my T-Mobile LG G3 in to get it warranty replaced. When I did the first time their diagnostic was able to tell that it had been rooted. So then I brought it home and followed this video and it's instructions. So when I brought it back they were unable to tell it had been rooted.
I want to say thanks man for putting up this video. It worked flawlessly. I was skeptical at first but it definitely works.

I know it's a year or so later but this works! on my LG g3 Verizon VS985 running lollipop rooted. Now unrooted and stocked! Hell yeah!

Took a little while since my usb ports are fucked in the front of the case but got it unrooted and am now in the long process of updating. Thank you for this tutorial.
Switching USB ports fixed that issue for me. Worked great. Got my lollipop update.

this video was perfect. exactly as described! everything worked perfect! I had one minor issue after my phone was reflashed, I had a fail and a 2 on the blue screen. I ran the software again and it worked perfectly. Thank you!

Worked like a charm after the first (finally) ota update from Verizon bricked my phone. I was dumb enough to accept it even though I had a custom bootloader installed just to see what would happen, oops :) I learned my lesson!

Great video ! hard to get all the files downloaded to my computer but once downloaded worked great and now can have my warranty again
This worked for me. I got a little worried when I saw "status update 2", but it changed to 3. I went to the LG site and got the drivers from there, the ones linked didn't work. The linked ones never showed they effected the drivers under "device manager". After using the LG ones I found two of three devices showed installed correctly. Mine was Verizon LG-VS985 I just bought today for a reference. Installed software version 10B, was 12C? Edited: To say thank you to the creater of the video Anuj.

Thank you so much! At first I was plugging into my USB 2.0 and was receiving status 2, but then I switched to my USB 3.0 and it went to status 3 and worked perfectly. Hope that helps!

I could not install the latest Verizon OTA update that was released on October 29th. It kept failing. A Google Search revealed it was because I had rooted my phone in a particular manner. I found your tutorial on how to unroot, and let me just say, Thank you VERY much for this guide. It worked great on a Verizon VS985.
The one and only thing that was different for me was I had to download the LG Mobile Driver for Verizon specifically to get my phone to show up under COM/PORT in the Device Manager. That file is named LG_VZW_UnitedWHQL_v2.18.0 as of October 31st, Halloween. The version number may change as time goes on.
Thanks again. I am back to a non rooted phone, I can grab OTA's, and hopefully it also means I am ready for Lollipop!

Thank u sir, u helped me a lot.Today i recieved a big update (500mb) and i think it's the new 5L os and i wanted to upgrade and it told me i cant on a rooted phone so i used your method and it worked.Right now i am still passing thru upgrades until it gives me that 500mb upgrade but i think now woold work.

in lgd855 it appears on the flashtool (after unplugging and plugging back again) "Download Failed"...as I can see I'm not the only one having this problem...please help and keep up the good work man
If you do not see the com ports in the device manager, click "actions" at the top, then select "add legacy hardware" then ports, and com port (all the first options clicking through).
After it installs, you'll be able to see it the way the video shows.
Mine just says Communication Ports instead of LG Mobile Serial Port

Robert Dale I had the same problem. I uninstalled two things in the Device Manager's listing that had to do with my phone, so keywords like "Android" and "LG". Plugged my phone back into the USB port and then my computer wanted to install the drivers with the help from another pop from verizon, cause I have a Verizon phone. I let it, followed the instructions and then I got "LGE Mobile for VZW USB Serial Port (COM3)" device

Thank you so much for making this idiot proof. Everything went well for me, except the LG flash program kept saying 'Can't change to download mode', I just tried different USB ports until it worked. The only other thing was, the first time it flashed it failed, and also had a 2 instead of the 3. I started it over and it flashed successfully with the 3. Mine was rooted and I'm guessing an OTA update happened while I was at work, because I was stuck in TWRP. Thanks for posting this video!!

I'm trying to restore my European LG G3 and when I get to the point where I run the LGFlashTool.exe I get a pop-up titled "DBMS" and I have 4 options:
1) "?? ?? (Korea Factory)
2) "China / Brazil Factory [NLGICCJMP]
3) "Others (Global Service, BRC, ...) [NPINLOCAL]
4) "For Test"
which one am I supposed to choose?
Select Others and then select your country

Somebody help pls.. I did everything in this video and process goes all the way to almost %100 then my phone restart and stops in the logo, In the lg flash tool It says OS mini check failed factory boot failed.. after that my phone goes back to blue screen with factory reset status 2.
Worked great with d851 just had to retry with different ports on my computer

I have done a stupid mistake and now it wont stop restarting.
I have connected it to my laptop with the usb cable and pressed the Upgrade button on its software (LG PC Suite).
It did a few installs and now it's stuck on continuous restart. I did try all kinds of combinations with pressing the back buttons but it doesn't show anything else but continuous restart.
Please Help if anyone knows anything about this issue.
when I hold the volume up button and plug in the usb I keep getting a picture of the android guy and a red triangle saying no command... HELP..

Ok, I have followed your steps and found a problem. I'm on win 10 and there is no port section in device manager. However, wen you turn the phone into a modem you get a port inside the modem and the tool responds, but it can not be unplugged and plugged back in without the system giving a download error. Any Ideas?
