    This should probably go without saying, but we'll say it anyway, because somebody is going to ask: these videos are only our opinions. We are only talking about what we think and trying to have good conversations with interesting people. We don't have to agree, and we aren't trying to make anyone's minds up for them. We are just posting this message here so we don't have to post it in every video. Thank you for watching!

    Great video guys.
    Personally I compare the costs to my alternative sources of entertainment such as Netflix or Spotify and have settled on €10/month as a bargain for gaming. Hence why I don't bat an eye when I pay €100+ for a year worth of Destiny content. Or even €60 for a game such as BG3 which will keep me entertained for 2-3 months is still a very fair price considering how much content that is.

      @mathemalic we couldn't agree more. The gaming subscriptions are great deals too! Thanks for your support, as always!

    As a heavy gamer that spent 5k$ for my PC rig, I can be proudly announce that I refuse to buy any game that cost more then 40$, ill wait for discounted or just play free to play game and spent less then 50$ on microtransaction.
    I rather spent money on things that a physical instead of virtual

    I agree. Personally on these new free to pay model games I am ok with spending the same amount of money I would on a buy once game. So for example I am playing the first descendant right now and really enjoying it so I spent around $70 on various items I thought were 1. appropriate items for the cash shop, and 2. appropriately priced. This means I bought primarily skins since they don't shorten or detract from your games main gameplay loop, since most of this games gameplay loop has a focus on grinding new characters, weapons and mods. I feel that for now this amount of money is an appropriate amount to spend per person, in my opinion. This is the cost of most AAA titles right now, that are generally meant to have a playtime of 40-60 hours, so to me if I play your free to play game for that same amount of time and enjoy your product you are deserving of that return.

    i love how the first descendant shows hypocrisy of gamers , the same people who defend predatory practices of warframe including the most predatory trade model that exists , now cry when they get copied 1 to 1

      The gist of what I said is that I like how in this video we talk about why monetization matters and how voting with your wallet matters. Micro transactions work and they get people paid. It's not the kind of purchase I like, and I only fell for it once, it was so not worth it. I'd much rather pay the full price upfront instead of making dozens of "small" purchases.
      But that's what people prefer and participate in, so if it works, editors keep doing it! The world is complicated lol

    • @theramenspot
      @theramenspot  Месяц назад +1

      @@FoxFienix yes we both prefer that method but then there's the obvious downside: what if that $70 game you paid up front for is something you don't like? Or worse, if the game marketing promised one thing but the game was something else?

    • @FoxFienix
      @FoxFienix Месяц назад

      @@theramenspot there has to be a right of retraction. You get the game for 2h and if you don't like it or are unable to play it because of game mechanics or something like that, you can get your money back. It's consumer's rights.
      70 bucks is too much money to invest like that.

      Found my comment on a completely unrelated video:
      I've only fallen into the claws of micro transactions once and to me it wasn't worth it. I'd much rather pay for a full game and future dlc.
      But the need for sure income is real for everyone, I hope we'll get to a point where game companies focus less on profit for their end and focus more on keeping devs and publishers fed while creating content that people will enjoy. Someone spent hundreds of hours working on each pore on a character's skin because they were told to by management and it's sometimes so unnecessary for a gamer's experience... If real-life looking graphics are what's making the game cost hundreds of millions to make, I don't need them.
      Give me artistic looking games that are fun to play alone or with friends anytime.

    I think a lot of people can't put things in context like MrMallak6666 and mathalic said in their comments. I have played many free to play games that I would have regretted buying, I have played some that were worth the money I spent. As with all things in life, it's a matter of perspective.

      @ericmatthews9894 absolutely! Hopefully with some thought put into how they spend their money and less reliance on believing marketing, more gamers will be happy with their purchases and the game industry can grow once again. Thanks for stopping by!
