- In this video we compare two of the best running shoes 2024! We have the Adidas Adizero SL 2 up against the New Balance Fuelcell Rebel 4 and I will tell you which is the best daily trainer!
The GOAT of quick-fire, no waffle reviews/comparisons.
Thank you I really appreciate this
I have the Rebel v4 and JUST got my SL2 in. First step in (in the house) of the SL2 made me go “whooooah, these feel goood.” Can’t wait to run in them!
@@ThaCurbdog mann...I am Brasilian e your comment help me to put SL2 in my wishlist in Christmas kkk because I was in doubt about RebelV4, Novablast 4 and SL2 ( best price). I have now a Duramo Speed and I like so much. I don't like of Cushon so much soft. Thank you
@@ThaCurbdog hi man! Do you any new impression? I have 90 kg and yet I. Doubt about SL2 and Novablast 4 for long runs
I feel like the adidas will last longer. I love my rebel v4 too but the exposed foam in the rebel is getting torn up and i get the feeling that 300 miles is the limit in the rebel and reminds me of the rincon 3 where after a certain amount of mileage the foam loses its pizazz
Super feedback thanks
I tried both, went with the SL2, and I could not be happier. I found the sizing for the Rebel 4 to be a bit off. I'm usually a size 11 (having worn the NB 1080 v12) but the Rebel 4 left no space between my big toe and the end of the shoe. My big toes also point up toward the upper which really didn't help in this case. After just five minutes in the store both my big toes were already starting to hurt, unsurprisingly. I did try the Rebel in size 11.5 which solved the toe problem, except the middle of my foot felt loose. Since I was looking for a shoe where I could pick up the speed, I wanted a more compact shoe feel.
Enter the SL2. After watching literally every review on RUclips, I ordered the wide version in both size 11 and 10.5, and I decided on the latter. The size 11 also fit a little loose; I imagine a runner's knot would've helped since that's what I did on my size 11 1080s but I didn't want to bother.
The 10.5 left just a half thumbnail's width between my toe and the end of the shoe, which I was slightly concerned about esp due to how my toes are shaped. But after putting in my first few miles, I have no concerns. I love the grounded feeling mixed in with the sufficient cushion for my knees. Only thing is I wish Adidas would show more love for us wide footed runners by releasing more colors!
Credit to adidas for sticking up for the consumer, that price is red hot.
yep 100%
I tried them both on today. I prefer the SL 2 even though it was a narrower fit. They do make a wide version but one color. The Rebel V4 has a nice step in feel, but I feel like that foam will bottom out later in the miles. It kinda of feels like ZoomX just a bit more airy. Also I has a funny feeling drop on the forefoot. It feels a bit to steep of a drop. It’s something I am used to. The SL 2 will handle a bit of the faster paces better than the Rebel 4. It’s sleek, nimble, and firmer.
I like the Rebel v4 and Velocity Nitro 3 as most most versatile daily line up.
I would be great if you did a versus between SL2 and Mach 6.
This 2nd version of SL does not have stability control, I might consider other Adizero line up like Prisma
I have both. I fell in love with the rebel v4 when I got it first but the love started to wear off as i put miles on them. I know they aren’t supposed to be a high cushioned shoes but after several miles in them during each run it feels super flat. It’s a great shoes for speed work with great feedback but not so fun during extended wear. When I got the SL2, it is exactly what I thought the rebel was supposed to be. Fun shoe with adequate cushioning from front to back. I would choose the sl2 over rebel for everyday use and rebel for speed work.
Prefer the fit of the SL2 and also can use for a long run
Glad to hear it
I have been looking for Rebel 4s but can’t find any in my size. Maybe I should go for the SL 2 instead.
I found the pro 3 and the Boston 12 fits longer but the SL fits shorter i usaly use size 12 us but for boston and pro 3 need 11.5 and for SL 12.5 to fot the best
Is the SL2 fairly stable? Love my Boston 12s and Adios Pro 3 if that helps the answer. If the answer is yes I’m going to have to buy them aren’t I?!
yes it is
It's not as stable as the Boston 12 but the increased cushion makes up for the lack of stability. The ride is more similar to the Adios Pro 3 than the Boston 12 but you can tell theres no plate or carbon rods, you feel them missing in the forefoot but the Lightstrike Pro propelling you foreward is a really fun feeling. Ive done 21KM since I got them on Monday and they are just a fun daily trainer at a great price! 10/10 would buy another pair already just for the value.
I’ve currently only got the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3s, which I do all my running in. Sometimes they feel too firm for my slow & longer runs, do you think it’s worth picking up the SL2s to fill that gap ?
Are you a lightweight runner? That could explain it
Fantastic comparison. For my 65 kgs, I prefer the NB fuelcell Rebel v4. Like to Fordy. Have a good day.
Thanks, you too!
NEVER go with price, I want the best shoe regardless. You wouldn't say a Kia is better than a BMW because the price is cheaper, no difference with shoes. I do appreciate the explanation of value regarding price but I want the best shoe regardless because I only buy a few pair a year
Just wish they'd go with Continental rubber on the SL, that stuff lasts forever.
so true
The Adidas is still plenty grippy, it definitely doesnt feel like continental but for the price savings in a daily trainer I welcome the update, I can tell its plenty durable after a few runs on hot hot pavement. SL 2 has trimmed the price where it can.
@@Powellcon_ it's not durable at all, will have worn smooth by 500km, where as the Continental on my Boston 12s has lasted over 1000km. Still, I did buy a second pair of SLs and will probably get the SL2 too.
@@Enoch-Root Compared to the original SL the ride is much better. And I'd agree that the Boston 12 with continental is still the best buy in the Adi lineup. But for daily KM"s the SL2 is much softer and less slappy than the Boston. Running the same pace in both I barely notice a difference in energy return.
Have the Mach 6 as a daily and like it……. but the pro 3 I love, the takumi sen 8 I love, the Terrex Agravic I love. ( only let down been upper issues with them all, only minor but the only flaw imho with adizero shoes ) so do I need an sl2?
you have some great shoes there
Hi @FordyRuns, I'm looking for a non-plated shoe to do some speed stuff (from tempo to 1K repeats) while letting my feet work. With a price difference of plus or minus 20€, I can get these two shoes and the Brooks Hyperion Max from last year. Which one do you recommend?
Sl2
How do they compare against saucony ride?
faster feeling
Is the Rebel v4 suit slow runner, jogging pace at 8 minute per km? The SL2 is too narrow for me
Sure but maybe get something with a bit more stack and Cush
@@FordyRuns Thanks, and that sounds like 1080v13
4 is a roomy fit, SL2 is a snug fit?
Snug, go half size up
Others are sizing to size up
SL2 & Rebel4!!💪🏃
Does sl2 poke your arch? Thats a problem for me with b12 and ap3.😊
I want to know this too. My SL poke my arch too much and has basically been painful everytime I use it. Or maybe I just got a wrong size?
@@keancabigao1461
No SL2 also have heel pads
@@Aron-t6m Is the midfoot flat? or does the arch poke?
@@TheValonquar
The arch of the foot penetrates a bit, like rebel v3
@@Aron-t6m disappointing :(
What about the mach 6? Still going with the sl 2?
yep price wins
Both of these over the Puma V3?
Velocity? Yep
I can’t see any of these shoes on the Start Fitness website.
I really don’t know which one to pick up.
They sold out (my bad)
@@FordyRuns haha, fair play. I'll keep an eye out for a restock.
I've seen other reviewers lean towards them coexisting in a rotation. Do you agree with that mate? Or too similar?
Yep like I said in my review perfect with Boston and pro 3
@@FordyRuns Sorry, I meant coexisting with Rebels as that's what i currently have. Maybe use the SL for slower work?
Sl2 66 quid at asos at the moment.
SL2 isn’t on startfitness.
Must have sold out
What are people saying for the sizing of the SL2? I'm an 8.5 in both the Adios Pro 3 and the Takumi Sen 10, but an 8 in the Boston 12 - should I size up slightly and get the 8.5 if this is quite a narrow shoe?
See comments on my review about sizing there’s a lot 🤣
I have normal width feet, had to return my normal size 11's for a half size up in the SL2's
I am size US10 in Takumi Sen 8, Adios Pro 3 and SL2.
