Oh my goodness I remember this. I remember running through that hospital shooting Combine soldiers and Headcrab zombies, and then I remember Alyx running into the bathroom and watching her reload her shotgun with the most badass look on her face -- but I went back to where I came from because I'm not good at direction. Good times, good times: A few minutes ago.
***** There are 2 achievements of it. The first is in Ravenholm, the second is to beat the ENTIRE GAME of Episode 1 while firing 1 bullet, EXACTLY 1 BULLET, in the whole game. Obviously the "Save One Bullet" achievement can be done with other weapons like the bow-caster, rockets, grenades and Grav Gun. Just no SMG or pistol being fired. I don't think the assault rifle and shotgun can count, I don't know since it's been a long time that I played Half Life 2 Ep. 1.

He isn't an expert though... Gordon Freeman is just a guy, a normal guy, he may have gotten a tiny bit of experience with them eventually, but he is nowhere near an expert.
This is the song that made me realize how amazing the music in Half-Life games can be. Previously, music just set the mood, this song just jumped out and made itself present in the middle of the action.
This song is a lot like the Half-Life games themselves: sometimes it's dark and creepy, other times it's packed with action and fast-paced, but always very interesting and slightly bizarre. In other words, the best ever made.
Hah, no I imagine it's more of: *Helicopter flys on top of gordon and alyx* Pilot: Proceed to Mercy Hospital for evacua....wait what? Damn wrong game and country. *Pulls back* Gordon: D: Alyx : There goes this extraction.
Pretty much my favorite thing about this game is the use of music. It's rarely used, but when they break it out, it's for those really intense moments that need it. Brilliant.
I'm not sure the resonance cascade affects the atmosphere. But still, if the creatures on Xen can breath its air and also breath Earth's air, it should mean the air on Xen is breathable for humans.
one of the most memorable moments of the entire game funnily, it's much more memorable than the absolute disappointment of a final showdown this game has.
Or maybe, he has been outfitted with a microprocessor implant that interfaces directly with the optic nerve to produce a HUD that is, quite literally, all in his head. It's the idea I have for the protagonist fighter in the sci-fi story I'm working on.
In 100009999/0= years (namely never, that is why division by zero is impossible and undefined, because you can repeat operation x-0 endlessly). However I would love to be wrong.
hybridxxl Yeah, and yet they can't take out a scientist with no prior combat training who eluded them for so long murdering thousands of their troops to the point where they had to call reinforcements and failed at that too.
*Walks into the hospital while killing combines and zombies with shotgun* FUCK YEAHHHH *Sees a group of combine shooting at me* You gonna get it! *A bunch of zombies burst through the door and wreck them* .....Ok then....
oooh god! this song has just brought me to that hospital! in that time, it was really fun and cool to play such games as HL. if anyone who hasnt played hl2 yet, go and fucking play it, advise
Oh my god! I remember this part! My dad likes watching me play... Because I own it for PC and PS3 so he can watch it on the big screen. Amazing part. He thought it was kickass.
"Whoa! I never thought of that! We messed up! Actually, we try not to think about these things too much. We're making a game...can't take it all too seriously. He put a helmet on in HL1, but then you know the G-Man let him keep his suit but then Dr. Kleiner gave him new one and now I think of it as a Heisenberg suit. I figure the HUD is projected on those phat spex. Maybe his hair shields him from fallout. Certainly his upper lip and chin are safe." -Marc Laidlaw (from the Marc Laidlaw Vault)
this song fucking kicks ass. i remember playing episode one in the hospital with zombies bursting out everywhere. fucking creepy! and then the chopper fight in the attic. epic. highlight of the series
Thanks :) That's also assuming that they are making the game, if they are I bet it'll come out as a surprise, getting the game of the decade award a second time :p
this is so kick-ass!! one of the reasons that made half life great is because of the soundtrack as well as the gameplay also i think that 0:00 - 0:05 sounds a bit like something from metroid
@blueedde I actually agree. Im starting to think the problem with the music in HL2 is not the timing, but the fact that in Hl2, the music is easily drowned out by simple gunshots, but the music drowns out a lot of the dialog. In portal 2, they somehow scaled the music perfectly so its never quite drowned out, but also never drowns anything out.
imagine you going to work and u work at a hospital, you walk in, you go to your room/office and then you are like WTF cuz the combines took all of your projects and they were due that day... that would suck
If you've watched any episodes of Freeman's Mind, you find that he actually points out in one episode that the soldiers are so distracted by the bright orange colors on his suit, that that's usually where they tend to shoot at.
The suit is a full-body defensive platform. Even if he doesn't wear a helmet, the suit will still sap damage and act as armor. Case in point: Headcrabs and how, even whe they hit the head, they just pop off.
Well, at the very least the suit has to come with some binoculars for the zoom. There's also the HUD. Then there's the headcrabs, they do poison him but at the same time its not like your vision goes dark and you rip the headcrab off your head. With regards to being depicted not carrying a helmet, he's also depicted without a zillion guns including the rocket launcher.
Fantastic in-game music, it really adds to the immersion Half-Life utilizes. Really, how could you not feel immortal while taking on hoards of zombies and Combine with this booming in the background? By the way, that Barnacle is toying with the wrong crowbar-wielding Theoretical Physicist.
I agree with you, it's just that in the very beginning of Half Life 2, you have no heads up display, even for health. Then, when you put on the HEV, you get the display.
"Hmmm. A Combine zombie. That's, that's like a...a.. Zombine! Right? Heh... Zombine, get it? Heh heh. Okay."

That joke was so awkward...
She forgot Gordon was mute and ended up laughing at her own joke...
"So much for medical supplies...i found a shotgun!"
..which is a well-known medicine for zombies ;-)
R3troSim "Whoops, zat was not medicine!" -The medic
Yep, one of the best alyx quotes
become one with the shotgun
and you will find the solutions to your problems in life

if you didn't use the shotgun through the entire duration of this song, you need to play the game again.
*play
I and I did. MULTIPLE TIMES DUE IT'S SHEER AWESOMENESS!
Couldnt cause i was goin for the gravgun achievement. Then again, that doesnt mean i cant play through again....
+Pancho Lopez I don't think that was a mistake. You really do need to pay for the game again!

You're only allowed to use Crowbar, Grav gun, Rocket Launcher and Grenades. any other weapons will void the acheivment
Every time I hear this music, I just think of me and Alyx blasting the living crap out of the Combine with shotguns.

The One Epicplayer, fancy seeing you here, so when is next vid.
*This is the Freeman The Combine's Reckoning Has Come.*
''What kind of hospital is this?'' - The most ordinary girl in Half-Life 2 Episode 1.
'The most ordinary girl'
Yes because 23 year old scientist badasses who are experts in weapons are just so common.
He isn't an expert though... Gordon Freeman is just a guy, a normal guy, he may have gotten a tiny bit of experience with them eventually, but he is nowhere near an expert.
@@vincenzo7153 I think Gordon spent too much time in the Hazard Course

Gordon communicating through text emojis is hilarious.

Pretty much my favorite thing about this game is the use of music. It's rarely used, but when they break it out, it's for those really intense moments that need it. Brilliant.
When this song came on in the game, I immediately quit to search for it and listen to it by itself! Excellent piece!
I'm not sure the resonance cascade affects the atmosphere. But still, if the creatures on Xen can breath its air and also breath Earth's air, it should mean the air on Xen is breathable for humans.
Or they can adapt to an atmosphere of any composure.
In Half Life Blue Shift, Barney goes to Xen without any protective equipment
one of the most memorable moments of the entire game
funnily, it's much more memorable than the absolute disappointment of a final showdown this game has.

"I found a shotgun~"
Probably the craziest fight i've ever had. There would be like a random zombine grenade on the floor that I fail to notice
i perfer this kind of music itstead of normal music.
what's "normal music" ? :v
jeuxvideos44 you know like songs
supergailey1 What kind of songs that you call "normal music"?
you know like miley cyris etc, regular songs that you know today
supergailey1 Ah,that pop music shit? I prefer metal and rock n' roll songs.

Inside the hospital was all in epic packed with this song
its better in 1.25 speed
I remember this part, running around, blasting enemies with the shotgun. It was so awesome.
The best videogame quote ever:
All these songs are such eargasm-ing sounds...
Love this song! Hell, the whole damn sondtrack to this game is awesome.
This tune has so much nostalgia.
i just love the names for all of these themes.
This is my favourite track from the whole series! X3 (I think... haven't heard 'em all... XD)
Oh my god! I remember this part! My dad likes watching me play... Because I own it for PC and PS3 so he can watch it on the big screen. Amazing part. He thought it was kickass.

One of my favorite Half Life songs
listening to this just makes want to pass half life 2,ep1,and ep2 all over again
I'm starting a band, and this, Klaxxon Beat, and the song where the Zombines make their introduction will be some of our breakthrough songs.
Haha! Very awesome song! I remember hearing it in that hospital. Valve has the best timing ever with their music.
without a doubt this one is my fav, i love all ther songs way better then any other soundtrack!
The episodic music has a bit of a Portal 2 vibe to it, huh? more electronic.
This music is just AWESOME :D
this song fucking kicks ass. i remember playing episode one in the hospital with zombies bursting out everywhere. fucking creepy! and then the chopper fight in the attic. epic. highlight of the series
I found this section to be freakishly difficult. Without this awesome music I may not have made it.........
Gordon never has a problem, atleast not one he couldnt solve or deal with. He just calculates the need of strenght to cut that tongue, and walks away.
Man I remember getting so pumped up when this song came on. I was like FUCK YEAH LETS DO THIS!
Favorite song from this episode.
awesome song
this song badassness to every half life character
best hour of my life
Thanks :)
That's also assuming that they are making the game, if they are I bet it'll come out as a surprise, getting the game of the decade award a second time :p
The Charged pulse on the overwatch standerd issue came in handy on this part. That and well Nonestop shotgunning :D
Pretty damn cool hospital with this soundtrack.
Spot on man! I tip my hat to you!
Freeman has made me seriously consider a job in the science field
Favourite HL2 song = Vortal Combat. When you're defending against all those antlions with the help of the vortigaunt? Epic.
It makes sense, it would explain the HUD, and one of the high-res models of Gordon did have a helmet.
this is so kick-ass!! one of the reasons that made half life great is because of the soundtrack as well as the gameplay
also i think that 0:00 - 0:05 sounds a bit like something from metroid
i was so hyper when i heard this music during the game, the music is like pushing you to come out of the shadows and blow up some zombie heads!
Ahh, nothing like going on a zombie killing spree to this BGM. Bonus points for using the revolver.
I love this song so much ^_^
my fave song on the sound track good job valve on a great game
The AWESOME kind. That kind of hospital.
After you finish off the Strider Wave at White Forest, he appears on the screen as the crowd is cheering.
Pure badassery.
Played this in VR mod, didn't get as much fun from a videogame since 2017.
Blasting zombies away in an abandoned hospital is one hell of a first date
Is it me or does it sound like Smooth Criminal at the start
a lifetime of a barnacle trying to kill freeman-freeman pulls out crowbar-the end
this song and sector sweep, best songs in HL :D
imagine you going to work and u work at a hospital, you walk in, you go to your room/office and then you are like WTF cuz the combines took all of your projects and they were due that day...
that would suck
OH! OH! That's right!! I frakken LOVE that.
I love the series Half-Life and Halo, it's so hard to admit that both have excellent quality?
possibly my favorite track from half life 2
My favorite EP1 song :)
If you've watched any episodes of Freeman's Mind, you find that he actually points out in one episode that the soldiers are so distracted by the bright orange colors on his suit, that that's usually where they tend to shoot at.
its so convenient that Gordon still manages to keep his glasses.........
The suit is a full-body defensive platform.
Even if he doesn't wear a helmet, the suit will still sap damage and act as armor.
Case in point: Headcrabs and how, even whe they hit the head, they just pop off.
Later turned into the Barnecycle and used by the combine as killing machine on two wheels.

By the way, that Barnacle is toying with the wrong crowbar-wielding Theoretical Physicist.
Due to the resonance cascade, the times when Gordon and Barney are on Xen, The portal to Xen would provide personal atmospheres to the Humans.
I agree with you, it's just that in the very beginning of Half Life 2, you have no heads up display, even for health. Then, when you put on the HEV, you get the display.
Zombie, alien, robot, hospital attack sequence -- GO!!
Nurse shotgun(like one user said)
Nice music. One of my favorite hl2 music
i felt like such a baddass slaughtering zombies with my shotty with this playing in the background
I cant even describe how badass I felt shooting and crowbar-ing zombies while this song was playing.
He scares the bullets away.
The aura of badassery seems a pretty sound argument to me.
no, the headcrab acually sucks that area to devoure becuase it needs alot of energy to take over the host/body
thumbs up for the designer
