  • *Please watch till the end. Mistakes were made.
    I recharge the AC in my 2018 GMC Sierra SLT with much trial and error and some accidental knowledge gained.
    First it try out the average R134a coolant only to find out my truck takes the new R1234fy type that is a little harder to get ahold of and much more expensive.
    Please envoy the misadventures of Your Chubby Bubby Garage.

    I really appreciate your video showing the whole process just as any other person would diagnose and work on their truck unlike the expert mechanic vehicles that have quick cuts and translations that don’t show everything. Plus I had fun with all the commentary! Thank you and keep making great videos and enjoy the family time!!!!

    Thanks for the video this helped a lot, I bought the AC Pro r-1234yf from Oreilly’s and fixed my 2017 Sierra in maybe 15-20 minutes , had to go buy a better step stool and find some gloves. Saved my day. Been riding around for 3+ months with the windows down before this.

      Thank you, I was in the same position and it was getting way to hot. Step stools have saved me from falling or damaging something quite a few times.

    Haha great vid. I did the same thing. That low pressure one is pain in the butt to get to! The guys at autozone showed me where it was thankfully because I couldn’t find any videos about it until I came across yours.
    Got cold air for 1 day and then warm again. Looks like I got a leak. :(
    That yf is expensive too. Going to try the one with dye and see if I can find the leak.

    The low side service port is usually located between the AC compressor and evaporator. The low side service port will have a black or blue plastic cap that needs to be removed. The low side service port is the only port to which the AC Avalanche coupler will connect. Never charge through the high side port.

    Buy the quick connect one with the pressure gauge. Cheap enough and worth it. Don't want to over charge it

    • @yourchubbybubby6161
      @yourchubbybubby6161  Год назад

      Yes, I did end up having a small pin hole in my condenser on the drivers side. One of the welds broke and it had to be replaced. Thank you for watching the video.

      From what I could find out yes. I had a very small pin hole in my condenser. I would start it up after recharging it and could see smoke or steam come out.

    How long it last the AC that you put

    • @yourchubbybubby6161
      @yourchubbybubby6161  9 месяцев назад

      It only lasted a few days before the A/C was blowing warm again. I ended up replacing the condenser and it has worked perfectly since then with no maintenance from me at all.

    He just put the wrong refrigerant in, these take 1234yf

  • @thecuss6817
    @thecuss6817 17 дней назад +1

    If you add sealer or refrigerant containing sealer, you can ruin an AC system permanently !!! You have been warned, and remember that Autozone clerks (and similar) are NOT mechanics !!! And I'm NOT subscribing.

      Thank you. Good to know. I am learning a lot by doing maintenance myself and how difficult these things are to fix. I will watch out for that in the future.
