    I got my first AR-15 earlier this year. It’s a Del-ton 316L. So yes, a budget 14:30 14:30 entry level AR with the MLOK guard. I added MBUS 3 flip up front and rear sights, and a Tango Down PR-4 sling mount so I could put a QD sling on it. I later added the Sig Sauer Romeo Red dot on it. Like you, I only ever handguns/pistols. So, I signed up for an intro to AR-15 lesson. Even though I looked at different tutorials online, I was appreciative of the training from the certified instructor. I needed that in person 14:30 instruction. Be safe and enjoy.

    Never take weapon off safe unless you’re pointed down range and ready to fire. Putting the weapon on fire should be the last thing you do before actually pulling the trigger. Be aware of your target and what’s beyond…aim in…take weapon off safe…and then fire. That being said…nice firearm. I have two of them!

    Congratz on your first life and liberty rifle! Train well, and watch lots of content on shooting form and stance on RUclips, it's a great resource. You want to lean forward, get your elbow down (only because it's a pistol grip), and plant the rifle into your shoulder instead of floating above. Ammo and training is almost more important than the $ you spent on the rifle, as long as it's reliable. Good luck!

    I will not be critical as I understand it still a learning curve and you are still learning and have an open mind which is great, as you continue there are videos or if you have someone with real experience with AR15 BCG's (Bolt Carrier Groups) they can show you how to disassemble them for a through cleaning, to include the firing pin as it will require cleaning. Also view other videos or ask the gun store gunsmith how to totally remove the upper from the lower receiver, as complete disassembly can give you access to the chamber and barrel. Note your don't have to always separate the upper from the lower, it just makes it easy for cleaning, you can get a cleaning kit with rods and the proper brass head brush to remove carbon buildup in the barrel, first then use the patch attachment like you would on your pistol to make use it is clean, then run an oil patch to lube the barrel, or ask about a bore snake and how to use it. You are doing great just remember to have backup parts to include an extra BCG, and springs.

  • @hairydogstail
    @hairydogstail Месяц назад

    With much respect, you are doing it wrong..This reminds me of me when I first bought my AR15 back in the 1970's..Never clean the barrel from the muzzle if possible as it can mess up the barrel crown and destroy accuracy..Always clean from the chamber..You need to get a solid 22 caliber cleaning rod (like a Dewey) with and AR chamber brush and jag..You use the patches you were wiping the outside of the carrier with for the bore..You need some barrel solvent like Hops number 9 bore solvent (not gun oil) to soak the patches before using..Always put a clean patch in the bottle, never anything dirty or it will get contaminated..Follow up with dry patches..You need to take the carrier apart and clean the bolt, be careful not to hit the gas rings..Just use a paper towel and wipe the carrier down after rubbing the carbon off with a little solvent (not oil)..Oil the cam track in the carrier and put some oil in the exhaust ports..I find Q tips work great for cleaning inside the lower receiver around the fire control group (hammer/trigger)..There are great videos on RUclips showing this process..

      @yourchubbybubby6161 Месяц назад

  • @brudamiranda3314
    @brudamiranda3314 Месяц назад

    Cool video! I like to clean after every time practicing or at 500. You can pop out the front pin and it's easier to clean both receivers. I like to only brush going down the barrel the same direction the bullet goes but I don't think it matters much. I like using the rods too. And bores snakes after. Then take the BCG apart and clean the bolt tail with brash brush or scraper tools. The at 500 tap out the extractor pin and clean the whole bolt and extractor. Check the extractor plunger pin . Then scrape the inside of carrier with botech BCG bolt scraper tool. The reassemble

    • @hairydogstail
      @hairydogstail Месяц назад

      Never use scrapers on the bolt or the inside of the carrier..It will remove metal and change the tolerances that can effect the gas efficiency..The carbon will act like an abrasive.. The carbon on the bolt and inside the carrier hurts nothing as long as you keep it lubed.. I will soak it in carbon cleaner if I want to remove it..

    Good luck with your new AR. I'll put in my 2 cents of advice for what it's worth lol. I'd get some off-set iron sights in case your red dot fails. You look cool AF when using them too. I'd start thinking of getting an LPVO to replace that red dot. You can shoot out like 500 yards with that gun. To shoot it accurate that far you need to be able to zoom in some. I just got my first LPVO and I love it. Anyhow have fun dude. 👍

    That grinding sound you’re hearing will smooth itself out the more you shoot. Lube it as others have said if that doesn’t work you can always go to a flat wire buffer spring. My higher end ARs don’t grind like that only my cheaper ones but it should work itself out the more you shoot. A good buttstock placement tip is hold the rifle and make an L with you arm and extend your buttstock down until it touches your bicep. School of the American rifle has great content so does Small Arms Solutions and can’t forget the legend Paul Harrell. Best advice I can give you is stick with what you have and train! Once you learn more about the platform you will have an idea of how you will want to setup your rifle. Although I would invest in a sling and mags! Blueforce gear and trex arms make great slings. Magpul gen 3 windowed mags are great also. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have lots of fun! I’m sure you will.
