What is J.R. happier about? Having a new son to love and nurture or having a new Ewing heir? Sometimes it's hard to tell, but maybe it's both. I love this rare scene of pure Ewing joy.
That part after JR hangs up the phone, I can totally relate to how he was processing the news. When something good of that magnitude happens, you sometimes delay outward joy because it can take a few moments to fully comprehend it.
When you sow your seed too often, it makes successful conquest less likely, or maybe you end up with a slew of daughters. It is wise to keep the stud in the corral, to build up more potent steed. FACT!
LIONSMANIAC I fell tf out when he said that while hugged up with one of his whores😂😂😂😂😭😭😭. I'm guessing after hearing the news, J.R. had to go out with a BANG.... LITERALLY😂😂😂
I wish I could feel sorry for sue ellen, but I honestly can't anymore. She made it clear that she married for money & she continued to STAY with him after he continued his affairs & horrible treatment. A man is only going to do what a woman ALLOWS him to do. He saw that she had no self worth & he took advantage of that. Then she went a step further by getting pregnant from him? So she has now brought an innocent child in the middle of their mess. Nope, I can't feel sorry for her.
@@justinp5661 Yes, and the episodes when Jock was in South America and how he was talking to Jock over the phone or wanted to talk to him every time Miss Ellie was on the phone with him was a bit disturbing.

Did something that simple really go over BOTH your heads?
Sue Ellen outdid herself a few years later too. She miscarried a baby that could have been fathered by either J.R, or her toyboy lover, Peter Richards.
Zita Carolina. Jr finally admitted he truly loves Sue Ellen in a letter before he died. He asked for a 2nd Chance. Sue Ellen. So sweet even too late to confess after so long.
As a character he had quite a powerful presence, his morality though was something different. Part of the family's dysfunctionality was never recognising how crooked Jock really was. You could see this when Jock was dealing with J.R. I specially liked when J.R tells Jock that he will put a a skeleton in Cliff's closet and Jock says "Whatever". Clayton, to me, was weird. J.R..."What are you doing calling me at work?" 🤦♀️ J.R. is having an affair when she calls him to say she is pregnant. Sad. Glad they made her more bold after this.
It was evident when he fought dusty and the other dude he threw off the balcony in Sue Ellens apartment. Also the letter he wrote her , the one that Sue Ellen read at JR's funeral in the new series. He just liked multiple pie.
Larry Hagman may have been 47 or 48 here. JR would have been a bit younger. In the Early Years movie, JR appeared to be 15 or 16 in 1951, which would make him 42 or 43 here. And it turns out JR did have a child, James.
Absolutely NOTHING wrong with being a later-in-life parent. My dad was going on 47 when I was born. I'm 51 and I still plan on having children. The problem is when a guy like Donald Trump who already has adult children and he fathers a child in his mid 60's.
Yeah, you're right. But, couldn't he be nice, especially when he knew that Daddy was there, just to put on a front for the family to make Sue Ellen happy? Even though he knew that the child could possibly not be his, he had to play along at this point.
I never liked the studio version of South Fork in California. When everybody is so happy for Sue Ellen, you can hear the actors voices echo. That was in fact a terrible set, and that is really sad. The fake South Fork fence and Miss Ellie were really right beside each other.

deb310red I doubt that very seriously. I believe he loved having an heir to the Ewing name. There will never be another Dallas!!! I love it still!

Sue Ellen: I love you JR
JR: You take care

He could have said, “I know,” but this was a year or 2 before Empire Strikes Back.
@@septiawoman2911 Later, way later, before the Southfork fire when Sue Ellen was in a wodka coma. This was the first time I believed him.
Sue Ellen and JR made this series
I would say, it was an ensemble of all of the characters.
All he cared about is what his daddy said.
Mind you it was his daddy that called him vs Sue-Ellen.
Anyone notice JR didn't tell Sue Ellen he loved her?
But he did love her. Stupid move but it was because he would bang that other lady.
Yes
Of course!
Sue Ellen didnt seem bothered. I guess she was used to it.

Well he always loved his son
What made him happy was the approval of Jock. That was the one and only thing he craved above all else.
❤I agree 💯👍 Jr loved his blood ties of becoming a father of a son too inherit what the ewings accomplished for the generations to come.
That's a nice shot of Jock reacting when he realizes JR is asking about him on the phone with Sue Ellen.
That part after JR hangs up the phone, I can totally relate to how he was processing the news. When something good of that magnitude happens, you sometimes delay outward joy because it can take a few moments to fully comprehend it.
Trust J.R to be with some bimbo, when Sue Ellen breaks the happy news.
I always thought JR was scared he couldn't get Sue Ellen pregnant because they had been married almost 10 years when it finally happened.
When you sow your seed too often, it makes successful conquest less likely, or maybe you end up with a slew of daughters. It is wise to keep the stud in the corral, to build up more potent steed.
FACT!
How she told him in one episode they barley made love anymore?
Sue Ellen tells Jock and Miss Ellie, Bobby and Pam she’s pregnant before she tells JR!!! Even Lucy knows first 😂😂
"Sue Ellen, what are you doing calling me at Work?"
Just classic JR. :D
LOL !!

"at work"
That's the best scene out of the entire segment!
That’s f-Ed on so many levels. He didn’t say “I love you too” and he was more worried what “Daddy” said. Lol

I miss my Dallas!
Miss it too ,now 2024
At 1:51 and onwards was one of my favorite scenes of Dallas.Loved the show and main cast.
Why are calling me at work. JR you are a toad! SMH
You notice how a girl is leaning on JR? He asked Sue Ellen why she called him at work. Well, maybe he's afraid she'll catch him cheating!
Sue Ellen: I love you JR.
JR: Take care Sue Ellen.
What a bastard!!
Melanie Biggins oh how I despised that man.....😁😁😁😁😁
You'd love to get on your knees for JR.
Can you imagine how much Business JR would have given a Drugstore if he was having affairs now. He'd have to buy boxes and boxes of Condoms.
Plan B more than likely
Yeah, JR looks hard at work! Lol!
Sanjay Yago trump 2020
He's trying to remember the last time he came in Sue Ellen.
JR's the daddy! Always!
if they were expecting twins, JR would probably be sitting with two women instead of one
They cut the scene in the hospital:
Nurse: Mrs. Ewing, he is wonderful! He has your husband's eyes.
Sue Ellen: Yes, and he has his father's nose.
J.R Ewing is the greatest man the world over😇
Sue Ellen outdid herself a few years later too. She miscarried a baby that could have been fathered by either J.R, or her toyboy lover, Peter Richards.
I was surprised that he was happy to hear the news
I look at old episodes and still love it !
I noticed that. I felt sorry for her in that instance.
Yep, most of the time he completely ignored her, except when she got out of line.
What are you doing calling me at work? :D

Jocks pants ALWAYS make me laugh!!!
He only loves himself
Jock said "Booze Broads and ..booty".
wtfat the end WHOWEEEEEEEEEE
The background music stating at 1:40 sounds like it came from "Rosemary's Baby". I wonder if that was intentional. LOL
Not a jerk, the best ever jerk... ;)
This was Season one (or Season two according to DVD)
1978/79
On Dallas, you NEVER know for sure who the real father is. It could be Cliff Barnes.
1:51, well, at least he took it well.
Jr pushed Pam, so Bobby wouldn't have a heir smh, she lost her baby
And this s/l was key to so many other important s/l in the rest of s1 and all of s2.
Yeah....Jock was an old buzzard. lol
J.R..."What are you doing calling me at work?" 🤦♀️
J.R. is having an affair when she calls him to say she is pregnant. Sad. Glad they made her more bold after this.
Jr barely says I love you to Sue Ellen
Lucy was the first Ewing Grandchild...John Ross Jr was the First Male Grandson...
Yes she's going to tell him
He was so cringeworthy in Dallas
What season was this?
My thoughts a well.
I NOTICED THAT!!!!!!

I thought Sue Ellen told J.R she was pregnant when he was in a hotel with a bathrobe with some unknown woman.

J.R. had that moment of doubt wondering if that child was really his or Cliff Barnes.
