Per Newsweek: _Three people, 22-year-old Jesse Ray Hooker, 23-year-old Aimee Cummins and an unnamed 31-year-old woman were charged in connection with the meerkat's disappearance._ That all happened in 11/2018. Man was fined $4205 AUD which includes court fees. That's about $3064 USD. One woman got suspended sentence; the judge bought her diminished capacity defense. No word on the third woman. Per police, they thought the meerkat would be cool as a pet.
@@hlcepeda HTF were they able to get inside the enclosure? The keepers should never have these animals in a situation where visitors can just come in and take an animal. How incredibly stupid!
@@randomvintagefilm273 My understanding is that the enclosure fence was low enough for Hooker to simply reach down and snag the meerkat when it got close enough. There were no keepers nearby at the time.

Why do they have to have a repulsive American accented narrator? Surely a series with Australia in the name can have a narrator with a pleasant accent, not the hideous one here.
