- This week we take you behind the scenes of our recent Bathroom Makeover! This was the smallest room but one of the hardest to renovate as there was a lot of hard work and DIY involved. To save money we decided not to make any structural changes so this was a ‘simple’ renovation but had one of the most impressive transformations! Originally the bathroom was dated and daggy, our goal? To transform it into a contemporary and welcoming retreat. Did we pull it off?

Amazing! I've always wondered how to update bathrooms/kitchens etc in a period home but not go too modern. It's a perfect blend of traditional and modern here. Thanks and well done.
I think painting that shower frame black also would really add to the look.
I can't believe the transformation guys. Well done, I personally LOVE the stained glass original window, the black leadlight picks up on your black features and the green you've picked up in the plants!! You've got the perfect mix of modern and heritage. X

That huge wall that has the towel hooks is SUCH a good space for some black and white art prints! Love this bathroom, some prints would (imo) really finish it off!
Yeah this is the only room in my home not filled with art! Ha. But prints here would be great. That's why I liked the hanging towels as well as they broke it up a bit

I think it would look even better with more plants maybe some hanging plants for those high sealing otherwise i think it looks really cool
Loved this, it turned out beautiful! I've learnt so much from watching this, as we are thinking of doing our own bathroom too. We are novices and was torn between retiling and thinking of maybe painting the tiles but from watching you it seems possible to paint it. Thanks for all the information and providing the paint brands, colours, showing us your thought process and getting down to the nitty gritty!

Great transformation. The bathroom is narrow but who cares if you are happy with it. I am a big fan of all white bathrooms with black touches. I think it looks very elegant and sophisticated.
Bathroom makeovers are my favourite!!! And I agree, the stain glass is amazing!

What a transformation!! So much fresher and cleaner... phenomenal impact for when you don't want to invest in a structural rebuild.
I understand colours are subjective, and I would have gone for a slightly warmer mid-tone grey on the floor, to ground that space better. At least the tap-ware is easy to replace, because that black, although fashionable now, will soon be frowned upon like the gold 80s stuff we are ripping out nowadays.
Haha, our next generations be like "urgh... matte black, so lame" ;)

It looks really good! Thin picture frames on that large wall would really look great! Perhaps a deep grey on the ship lap panelling would help draw the eye in

Hi Lucy, the bathroom make over looks fabulous. I love the very clean whites and black detailing.
Can you include information on the colour white used (there are so many of them).
Also, how do you find the painted tile floor? Is there any wear and tear? Also, would the tile paint assist with making the original tiles (I am thinking for my self) on the floor non-slip? I have kitchen tiles that are very slippery when wet and they are a ghastly colour, so would love to give the kitchen and bathroom floors a lift, Des
We would have wanted to see more of how You did the changes instead of hearing you talk.
We have just bought a very dated early 2000s home which needs so much work. And sadly, doesn't have the inherent character you have in your home. Still, having watched through a huge amount of your videos, we are able to get a lot of inspiration for our house. This transformation was fab, and doable for the DIYer too which is what we are after.

Some peel and stick floor pop tiles would like really nice on the floor. Very nice transformation!
Floor would’ve looked better black. As well I think a black feature wall would’ve looked good. High ceilings utilise that! Hanging shelves, hanging plants! Good job. I personally would’ve changed the whole layout :)

I just found your channel.. so I’m late to the party.. but a large piece of art above the tub with a floating shelf under it painted to match the cabinet would be a great place for a few plants and rolled face/hand towels for you to reach for while in tub..

Very nice. Did you paint the tiles on the shower floor or would it be better to lay new tiles on top? Hope are the floors going now.
The shower has a solid base. We left it as is. The tiles in the room were painted and are holding up great. ⚡️

How has the painted floor gone a year on? Interested and I’m trying to work out to paint or not to paint our tiled floor. Ive just used the Dulux Reno range on my vanity and love the finish.

If you want to ground the accents of black while keeping the current color on the floor, I would paint the cocking in between the tiles black! Good job on the reno :)

For this small bathroom, I would have changed the layout by getting rid of the tub, building a really nice shower against the back wall, then moving the toilet to the space between the vanity and the new shower. It would have cost more because there's more plumbing to do, but it would have a better flow for this long and narrow space.
Yeah, could be done. We didn't want the extra work or costs to move things though.
@@Huntingforgeorge I'm so glad you guys kept the layout (maybe in the future you can change it if you want) because for those of us who CANNOT afford to do so, this gives us much hope that we can make drastic changes without gutting it! Thank you :)
@Chi Le not an option for most people on a limited budget. I’d struggle to keep this under 4K...

What a transformation! The panels on the walls make such a difference. Well done! The only thing I'm not convinced of is the mirror. It's cool, don't get me wrong, but it looks a bit too small for the room. You have such high ceilings, I would have gone with something grander to make a proper focal point of the vanity area.

I've never seen such a deep and extremely narrow bathroom. It needs about 5 more feet in width. I'm going to fast forward to the end result.
My favorite change is the dark fixtures. Those are beautiful.
It’s an old small space. Not sure why they used to do it but it’s all we had to work with.

It was pretty scratched up and dinted. What’s wrong with the nice clean new white one?
The room now has black accessories so I agree that the gold vents were clashing and needed to change. I probably would have gone frameless shower to open up the sight line and avoid another colour (silver).

Good work. We did the same in our bathroom but I still have to get rid of black fish border tiles. Did you just paint out the floral tile only, or all the tiles?
All tiles were painted. Took an extra 3rd coat to really hide the pattern in the tiles. But looks great now.

Well I for one enjoyed your banter lol. Tall sould put in ship latter on the wall with window or the opposite wall of the tile. That room is so tall it would look amazing. . Amazing 👏 job....❤

These are easycraft panels we got through Bunnings. Look them up. They come in large sheets, very easy to install.

How’s the dulux reno range holding up on the floor tiles? Considering doing our ensuite.
Heaps of questions about this. We will address it in a future video. But it’s holding up fine and just the same as the day it was finished. Very happy for a quick budget makeover. ⚡️

I had no idea you could just paint tile and it doesn't just scratch off, is that some kind of special paint?
Yes. It’s called the Reno range from Dulux. Normal paint would flake off.

Beautiful transformation. Congrats. I loved the idea of painting the tiles 👏🏻 One question - to change wall-mounted faucets you used the same company as existing one (so the internal part inside the wall was not necessary to change)?
Inside the wall is generally just a threaded copper pipe here in Australia. So almost anything new will fit up when the old piece is removed.
