Thanks for the review. I haven't yet found any reviews on this keyboard on how to work with Logic and external synths. Specifically through Logic. With vitrual synthesisers everything is clear, but with iron synthesisers I have not found any reviews.
It’s not really aimed at that market. Its midi routing is limited and mostly reliant on the USBc.
Midi out from logic can be sent sure. But your desired set sounds incredibly specific.

Space. 61 keys are huge if you don’t have a deck big enough or a dedicated space.
I very seldom need that range myself. And if I were playing say sonatas that had that range. I’d want something with after touch and weighted keys anyways.
If you have the space and need the keys for say key switching. Do it.

Can this control the komplete kontrol (software) ?
I am in two minds whether to get this of the more expensive S Series from Native Instruments. The Komplete Kontrol integration that NI provides sounds very good to me, but it is 2-3 times as expensive as well.
Yes you can, but nowhere as seamlessly. NKS keyboards are incredible an if you're a komplete user maybe worth the investment. I used my NKS for 9 years after all.

Does anyone else have problems in Live when in arturia program mode where the display and knobs not updating when switching to a different track with a different Analog Lab instance?

Thanks for this review! I'm looking for a new controller. Would you know if this is compatible with Reaper? I know a midi controller that uses normal midi protocol will work and be customizable. However NI's Kontrol that I had borrowed was NOT fully compatible. We used a workaroung called ReaLearn to make it work. I'd love to plug and play though.
Kontrol only really works if you're using their NKS system. When you are its amazing. If not its a very bare bones tool and shit to configure. This however is all internal. Now how it maps with reaper i dont know i dont use it. maybe check this thread - legacy-forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=108831.0
@@Unders Thanks for your answer! Yeah I'm going through forums atm and haven't seen any other threads like "it didn't work because it wasn't enabled/didn't map anything".
So I think it's looks good on the Reaper end.
Something else came to my mind: my old controller broke down and only had two octave buttons, two wheels and one fader. Would the Essential let me control Kontakt 7 and/or Best Service's Engine 2? I work with Dark Era a lot and would rather control it physically than with the mouse.
Would that be possible to control the digital faders and knobs with the MK'2 hardware?

The software alone is worth it. Kind of amazing. Sure i wish there was aftertouch. But i have other keyboards that have that and i feel most people complaining that this doesnt also have one as well. So i dont get the gripe. This is an incredible price for a new midi keyboard.
truth be told ive not even missed the aftertouch that much. Theres been a couple of moments where ive been like "oh right yeah shit" but so few that in between i forget. my NKS hasn't even made a return to the desk tbh.
@@UndersI do still love my novation impulse. But it doesn't seem to want to seamlessly work with Ableton these days so I basically just use it as an instrument and not a midi workstation. I just see more complaints about after touch more than anything these days and I don't think people realize that you can get one on eBay for next to nothing if that's what they really are worried about.

I'm sure I'm thick. The dial in the centre if I press prog button until it says daw when I turn the knob it does nothing do I need to install something to select the daws? Thank you ..
Select the DAWS? It just puts the keyboard into daw mode.
@@Unders thanks I'll just mess about with it. I'll try on a different computer I select daws on keyboard but can't scroll through anything? Does it only work when you have connected to your chosen daw that you use then.
Hi i have a problem with my keylab essential 49 mk3,it doesnt integrates to my logic(i cant control it),any advice you can give to solve it?
Update the firmware for the Arturia, I’ve had to do that with logic’s last update.

I agree, aftertouch would have been nice. But you can't beat the price for what you get.
taken my NKS off the keyboard rack and found this does the job. I remember when the Einstruments keyboards that had nothing feature wise would be £399 So im super happy with this.
oxygen pro costs the same and has aftertouch
It's a great controller. My only complaint is no power on/off switch.
In the midi control you can set it to turn off and not have all the wild flashing lights 👌
Melodics is a paid abo so to me its useless

Arturia keyboards are bad quality ... don buy ... also lots o software bugs..no support whatsoever keys hanging on Mac .. also company slow to respond .. bad components ... don endorse 3rd grade companies

Love your videos. Newer producer, trying to decide between this and the komplete kontrol s49. NI was super gracious and gave me a refund for the time I wasn’t able to run their plugins on logic, so I’m considering giving it another shot - is there anything about the komplete kontrol that particularly stands out to you to make it worth the extra $500 + membership, aside from the library?
the NKS system allows you to also load effects directly via the keyboard control and configure them using the controls. That is something i miss to be fair. The visual feedback etc of the displays means very little to me as my keyboard is on a shelf cani cant actually see it 😆
