I have been watching Kdrama and Kmovies for 20 years. As soon as they confess their love they then focus on their career, promotion, even leave the county. Flower Boys Next Door, Soulmate series, Someday series, What Will Happen to My Family, Oh My Ghost, My Golden Life….
I heard of stories where children are taken to the orphanage or get adopted without one of the parents knowing (like in the case of Kim Jaejoong) after a divorce or separation which I found heartbreaking and not done. But getting a divorce and then act like your child never existed and keep it hidden for your future spouse?! Are those people even human?! I know bloodlines are important in Korea but this is next level. How terrible for the child to know they are so unwanted and just thrown in a corner as if they where a broken toy they could throw away. How damaging that is for the child.

Education would be a great topic because I don't understand why kids have to go to schools until 10 or 11 pm (when did all this start). In America as you know we go to 3 or 4pm then kids might have a tutor at home. We have people going to Ivy League schools like Harvard, MIT, Yale, Brown, etc.
Ivy league classroom education is not the same...there are legacy students who are not qualified to be there. In essence they are just buying there degree for participating.
I agree with many points but the chore one is weird. Per observations Koreans would spend less time overall on chores as they live in smaller spaces in managed flats/apts (lawns, facilities mantained by specialists) and often have alot of home appliances like robot vaccum cleaners (which also mop), dishwashers, washing machines etc. Most things are delivered to door everywhere including online shopping, fresh ingredients, complete meals etc. People are generally spend less time on food, eating out is affordable, or they have a quick meal using prepackaged meal kits or instant food or delivery. I've observed people generall spend less time on chores overall in Korea, no lawns to mow, no shed to fix etc. It should be weighted as percentage against total time spent doing chores in the household.
In Finland (I am Finnish) people usually live together for several years before getting married (some never marry even when they have kids) and the good thing about it is that no-one can fake stuff for years everyday (unless they are some kind of psycopaths) so when you finally marry someone you already know how many times in a day they take a shower or brush their teeth.. 😊
This should be the standard for relationships. Get to know each other for a couple of years and see if the partnership is healthy before you marry and/or have kids. Simple.

Korean-American here. My parents divorced when I was young. My mom wanted all her kids, me plus my 2 sisters (typical American experience). Dad hardly ever paid child support. Fast forward decades later and she re-marries. My new Korean step dad also had a son from a previous marriage in Korea and I met him. He was raised by his uncle (dad's brother). Turns out the mom wanted nothing to do with her son for the sake of her future/new husband. When I pieced that together, I was shocked. Watching this video and now it makes sense. Damn, South Korea can be pretty savage. I'm in my 40s now and single. I've resigned to forgo marriage for the reasons you outlined here plus others.

Megan, what about divorce with foreigners and the Korean is usually able to keep the child/children. I think we are witnessing such a situation with one online couple. I even felt that he physically abused her, but no proof of that other than she was injured frequently. It's sad because the child was learning 2 languages from the parents, but now, she will definitely lose one of those languages and part of her identity.
its sad to see how women are treated sometimes but I'm happy to see them fighting for equality and to get rid of harmful traditions. Traditions should be a beautiful thing to want to continue not archaic ideas that single out a certain gender, or group of people.

Hey, I do want to know more about the children being “kidnapped” by one parent away from the other because I have seen a lot of the other parent venting online in Korea. I just want to know how it happened or what the parents are doing.
For that man with the wife giving his money away to her mom. Simple, he prevents her from having access to any of his money. He removes her from the process and only buys what they would need for the house. If she wants more she can get a job. Or he could move out and abandon her to the point she asks to divorce. At this point she obviously cares more about her mom and herself so he can use anything outside of breaking laws to make her leave. He can play the petty long game.
I'd rather see the divorce rate go up than women being stuck in unhappy marriages due to not having financial independence like our mothers and grandmothers did.
It was similar in Soviet Union when I was growing up my dad’s family was prioritized. I did see my grandmother from my mom’s side but only when she came over to babysit which was not that often. I spent more time with my dad’s side of the family, grandparents and cousins etc.

Very informative content Megan🤓… I wasn’t married to the father of my child, but we still had to go through all the child custody courts. U are absolutely correct,” u have to start slinging mud about the other parent “ to prove you’re the more fit parent.. the money in attorney fees will break ur bank and the process will break your heart. One thing that seems to be taboo to discuss, is that when you have children, you don’t put up with the 💩 that you put up with before.. lots of conflicts between families and hella stress.
Now it makes crazily sense with the K dramas, where mostly the boomer age parents are hating each other and disputing, where one character drops "I would have divorced you long ago!", whereas the other spouse smiles often in those scenes, and repsonds like "well, you can't really do anything big about it, as long as A) female wife character "I maintain the household in perfect condition and take care of my kids" B) male husband Character "I bring the money home and you can have everything you need!"

another reason to not want to marry in SK 💀 imagine you marry someone, for years you try to make it work and it doesnt. How do you and your spouse show up to court with just: this isnt working for both of us 😭 Its like gov makes it difficult on purpose to keep people locked in bad marriages which is worst than being single 💀 Thank you Megan for bringing light to these issues 🙏
Skincare routine added to cart 🎉 This was insightful since most dramas just show them going to sign documents and then their divorced. I know you spoke on mental health previously but I'm curious about the entertainment industry and the lack of support these celebraties have that "going to sleep permanently" seems to be their own form of relief. Like why is it this bad? Why are the expectations so high and they are only human too.
Simple answer cheating is like normal thing over there for some reason, too tired because long hours of work/studying, broke to even pay for entrainment and dates, dealing with awful in laws plus pressure from society. Yes so is a bad deal.
Anna the directors cut you have to watch. One prospective IL had checked the other partners education transcripts and all sorts of background check before the registration of the marriage.
..Cooking for your mother-in-law and monthly allowance for all FOUR IN-LAWS?!!! wtf now I get why they don't get married omfg also,I'd divorce the toothbrush guy in a second oufff 🤢🤢
I love these talks. You're a great story teller. Also, these topics are relative. My husband does gross me out but I'll definitely tell him to go shower and brush his teeth 😂
Another reason why people fight to get rid of the children in divorce is due to how expensive education is. Nearly a grand per child is invested in after school activities. My friends spend more than 2k a month in education.
my korean husband lied about his mom's health issues and then started a relationship with a woman he was clearly attracted to and tried to say she was his 'sister'. He decided to leave me when I was 7 months pregnant. Luckily, we had moved to America where the courts favor the mother and once he left I knew the custody of my baby was secure, but I just hate how Korean parents feel like they can interfere with relationships. If my mom and his parents had left us alone, we probably would not have been divorced. His parents told him to lie to me which caused him to emotionally drift away from me. My mom caused a lot of issues as well. I hate what the situation has done to my life, but there is no going back.
I love how you drop allll the South Korean tea like the South Korean Wendy Williams. How you doinngg 🍵 😂😂
That is a Good Comment.🤣

Oh llawd! 😩please don't become like Wendy Williams! Stay you girl! Informative and objective - and never messy! I love to hear your perspective along with what you've seen and heard - and you do it with respect! 🙌🏽 That's one of the many reasons I've watched you for years! ❤️
I dont thik she was messy she relayed the info in an informative matter 😮
@@ariel765 I don't think so either which is why I said in the 2nd sentence that I hope that she DOESN'T become like Wendy Williams....who IS messy!
I love this series!
another reason to not want to marry in SK 💀 imagine you marry someone, for years you try to make it work and it doesnt. How do you and your spouse show up to court with just: this isnt working for both of us 😭
Its like gov makes it difficult on purpose to keep people locked in bad marriages which is worst than being single 💀
Thank you Megan for bringing light to these issues 🙏
Thanks for the skincare must, and another great video 😊
Skincare routine added to cart 🎉
This was insightful since most dramas just show them going to sign documents and then their divorced.
I know you spoke on mental health previously but I'm curious about the entertainment industry and the lack of support these celebraties have that "going to sleep permanently" seems to be their own form of relief. Like why is it this bad? Why are the expectations so high and they are only human too.
The wig story made me laugh ! That’s crazy lol v interesting video . ❤
Megan please could you speak on the 4B movement going on in SK since we are on the topic of rising divorce rates!
Not only Korea, but the rest of the world.
Great episode. Very informative
I’m glad that you enjoyed it~~ 😢thanks for watching.
Korea is like an iceberg. All nice and pretty on the surface, but has sooo many faults and craziness below the surface..😅
Simple answer cheating is like normal thing over there for some reason, too tired because long hours of work/studying, broke to even pay for entrainment and dates, dealing with awful in laws plus pressure from society. Yes so is a bad deal.
Insert kermit drinking tea meme LOL. Btw just watched the vlogs when the fam came to visit you. You and your lil sis are ´jokes.
Ohhh 😂😂😂 yeah~~ thanks for watching and supporting
Wow. Thats a lot and crazy. Thanks very interesting.
Guessing the 3 year one stems from war time. There were a lot of displaced people at that time. Makes sense.
Anna the directors cut you have to watch. One prospective IL had checked the other partners education transcripts and all sorts of background check before the registration of the marriage.
Thank you Megan for your skin care. Does the package come with instructions on what to put on first, second, etc?
wow I am earlyyyy!!
Yaaay!! ❤❤
"Nobody is dirty here except for THAT man" made me giggle out loud hehehe

My aunt has been twice; I want to visit! Important connections from now on..
2 weeks is crazy
..Cooking for your mother-in-law and monthly allowance for all FOUR IN-LAWS?!!! wtf now I get why they don't get married omfg
also,I'd divorce the toothbrush guy in a second oufff 🤢🤢
Thank you
I love these talks. You're a great story teller. Also, these topics are relative.
My husband does gross me out but I'll definitely tell him to go shower and brush his teeth 😂
that man with the wig good Lord😂😂😂😂
I love your outfit 💕
“Nobody’s dirty here except for that man!” I spit my imaginary drink out when I heard that!
hahaha. Im glad the drink was just imaginary!!
This came right on time as there is a movement in the US right now about this! Very informative 🫶🏾💕
I just got the skincare set, hope this one works for me....🤞
I'm surprised people get married. I'd rather stay by myself.
Another reason why people fight to get rid of the children in divorce is due to how expensive education is. Nearly a grand per child is invested in after school activities. My friends spend more than 2k a month in education.
Read this video title too quick and almost had a heart attack LMAOOOO
It just uploading it on me 22:00 PM
❤❤❤❤❤ thanks for watching so late
I'm not marrying for that 😢
my korean husband lied about his mom's health issues and then started a relationship with a woman he was clearly attracted to and tried to say she was his 'sister'.
Girl these edits were too funny 😭
The South Korean Wendy Williams 😅
😂😂😂😂
