I can think of some reasons. But most seem to focus the Symphonia cast being so underutilized and the monster capture mechanic. Personally, though, I didn't find it bad. The sporadic appearances made me learn to like them more (no sarcasm) especially Collete. And it allowed Presea and Regal to have some much needed screentime (which was severely lacking in Symphonia).

BTW that skit with Mart-mart being a secret weapon is not about you completing the Colosseum without her it's about her being out of battle for 10 fights there is yet another one if you keep her out for longer about her plotting with Mr. Tenebie not providing healing anymore dunno if there is a third one but i know there are Emil variants of them (i used to get them all the time)
I keep getting the Marta one during my playthroughs simply by fighting enemies during the parts where Marta isn't in the party. Also I once got both the Emil and Marta ones at the same time by hacking to allow me to swap any playable party member into the lead slot.
Nikodem R It’s been like 5 years and I revisited the game. Anyone remember how to do the combo lmao. I know you gotta do an arcane spell and hold down B with red bar. But that’s it idk anything else, I didn’t even know you could do special interactions. This is for the Wii btw

It was boring compared to the rest of the tales games and lower quality.
