You gotta admit man this album grows on you QUICKKK
definitely quicker than HTSD did
@@killswitch2408 Some of the songs feel like legitimate """sequel"""" songs to the ones they mimick rather than a fucking hardwired copy that self destructs unless it's Hardwired itself or Spit
Inamorata quickly became my favorite song after a TERRIBLE first listen
Idk what I missed the first time but it's such a great song. You can tell when Kirk actually cares about his solos, this was one of those times
@@fansee1368 same case with me...first I was like..fuck that's long, but when I listened to it carefully couple of times, I realized that this song is gonna be one of the Metallica classic's
At first I was like, bro this is hardwired part 2, now all the songs are so catchy and I can't stop listening to it.
Room of mirrors solo is definitely the best one in the album because of this part.
yeah its up there for sure
Yes! The last three songs are my personal favorites. Those harmonies made those songs for me
same
Definitely going to be “crowd singalong” leads as people learn the songs. So excited to hear pretty much everything off the album live.
@@jd0879 that would be so sick dude!
The main riff in chasing light tho 👌
not bad not bad
It's horrible
what about main riff in shadows follow
that chorus is sick too
The chasing light main riff is one of Metallica's best riffs ever. It's badass.
The bridge in Inamorata, the outro in Screaming Suicide and yeah, the harmony in Room of Mirrors
James sounding like he did on Nothing Else Matters during that bridge threw me for a loop!
I did not expect that vocal sound, but it was so good.
Inamorata definitely deserves Metallica Hall of Fame status for sure
Straight fax. I love how the last three tracks have cool harmonies.
Harmonies are a plus
I love that ending riffs of Shadow Follows, that goes after the solo. Also Crown of Barbed Wire verse riff is quite interesting.
The harmonies made me tear up like the ending Fade to Black harmony
The more I listen to this album the more I love it.
YES!
As a big iron maiden fan, i approve this album with crazy good harmonies
Chasing Light: first riff after intro - killer!
Just listened to these 2 songs and then your video came up. I totally agree!!
When they break it down in Shadows Follow is my favorite part. Gives a Damage Inc bridge vibe.
The opening line of James blowing at the crowd is the best part
Sick tone match, tight playing. This is some fuckn sick work man!
Mirror and too far are actually really good after listening again…the chorus in too far is super catchy
that Room of Mirrors harmony is something. i gotta give the album another go to see if i can catch some more goodies
I like the 1st riff of shadow follows
Chasing Light! Holy shit that song's good!
Honestly I love the whole album. It's no thrash record but it feels like if Kill Em All and Load had a baby and I just groove with the whole damn thing personally. I think its much more consistent than Hardwired was as a record.
Almost every song have something special !
1000% AGREE! love those songs
These were definitely the best parts in that album
Too Far Gone? was great. Couldn’t stop head nodding when it came up. Room of Mirrors swept the floor with that redemptive solo.
The guitar harmony in "Room Of Mirrors" really reminds me of "Spit Out The Bone," only I find it even better, and that says a lot.
That one riff from shadows follow, too.
Amazing parts
Yes my dear man, YES!
Room Of Mirrors harmony part is LEGENDARY
Exactly!!
Even I loved those two parts❤.
That riff from "Shadows Follow" gives me scrunchy face.
Really like the intro of sleepwalk my life away. Nice to hear something a little different lol
That tone is so hot
Shadows follow, Room of mirrors and Chasing light are my top 3 with honorable mentions of Inamorata, Too far gone? and 72 seasons
Absolutely agreed! These are the two best parts of the whole album!
Fsfs
The end of the solo on crown of barbed wire sounds super good also
Literally thinking the same thing!
love it!🤘
Some top riffs on Chasing light
NOW WE 'RE TALKING ! (...and Inamorata middle to end)
liked before I heard it, because I knew.
you me...same.
Yes, those are 🤘
ye boii 🤘
Too far gone, Shadows Follow, Room of Mirrors and Chasing Light
Couldn’t agree more. I was up at 12:30am the night this album dropped. I was laying in bed with my headphones in just listening and taking it all in. When I heard the first harmony riff on Too Far Gone, it genuinely made me so fucking happy, damn near brought tears to my eyes. Shit like these two riffs is whats been missing in their music since hardwired.
Too far gone, room of mirrors, chasing light, inamorata. Love all the songs though
Love it all . Could put them in my own order for sure, but anyone else LOVE Sleepwalk my life away?
Shadows Follow just chugs soooo hard tho
We just need James to keep writing cool ass parts for Kirk to play.
Just let him write the solos at this point
Weirdly enough, Kirk some great ideas for riffs but is pretty hit or miss with the solos. Would be kinda nice for James to leave out his comfort zone in that regard
I woluld add the solo for Too Far Gone? which is the best improvisation Kirk has done in years imo, and the harmonies section after the bass breakdown in Inamorata
I agree, these parts are the best
🤘
Screaming suicide is my fav off 72 seasons
Highly agree with this, even though I adore every song on the album
🤘
I'll just say that... welcome to where time stands still.
welcome to where time stands still
Welcome to where time stands still
Welcome to where time stands still
Those are my favourite songs of the album, the endings of Room of mirror is just brilliant
Really like also Shadows follow despite the main riff being a bit too cliché, but the song is cool
The album is growing on me. My first listen felt like an 80 minute song with near exact 0-1-1-0-1-3-1 riff progressions and Kirk still stuck in Wah Wah Land. I think Ill always have issues with the lack of dynamics, range and the repetitive nature of endless E chugging in the same tempo in most of the songs, but Im loving the new highlights coming out now overall.
Room of Mirrors has indeed a lovely harmonized section that, I also think is all too short. The song itself should have leaned more with that style, rather that Hetfield club out another battering of F sharps in the songs first half. That, was already used many times in the other songs. I like the sleazy strut and groove of Crown on Barbed Wire aswell.
Room of mirrors gave me 'spit out the bone' vibes
You must burn is a song that would be perfect for a 90s female band Drain STH. They only had 2 albums but this would definitely be in their alley.
I'll admit I was kinda unimpressed with the album when I first heard it but considering a few days later I was humming the room of mirrors harmony to myself at work, I'd say it's a good song on a good album. It had me itching to get home and learn it on guitar
We need this Too Far Gone's Riff on AJFA tone!
BEEN a fan of yours for a while now... Never have I ever commented on any of your videos and here I am today... to ask you for something, a favor of sorts. Is it possible for you to rid those BATMAN NANA, NANA, NANA, NANA, NANA, NAAAAA riffs or chords on SHADOWS FOLLOW? I think that song would be amazing without them. Thanks! Great work, as always!!!
I thought you would've liked *that* You Must Burn riff.. (alongside both these harmonies!)
I didnt mind that one for sure
I think I need to give the album a few more listens. There's one thing I have noticed though, Lars seems to love riding the hi hats before the drums actually kick in. That and the Hi hats seem to be really loud in the mix also. Maybe it's just me.
That was one of my few true issues with the album is the drum sound and the mixing of the kit in general. If I could do one thing to this album (other than maybe chop down Screaming and Darkness by a couple minutes or more), it would be to turn the hi-hat down a bit, especially during the bass section in Inamorata
The one time that the Hi Hat really bothers me, is in Inemorata. Its the lovely lull mid way, when that much welcomed dip in tempo suddenly deeps you down with Rob in full on Geezer Butler chill mode. Its an awesome Sabbath woozy interlude - chilled, dark and still. But the fecking Hi Hat is completely unnecessarily rudely interrupting the moment! It has zero business being there, stupidly obtrusive in what is supposed to be a super chilled moment of clarity in the song.
@@kylereece1979 ah im so glad it wasn't just me thinking that then
@@mattspence1337 I dont mind the Hi Hat behind the reigning of riffs when the songs are loud and driving forward. I dont notice, care. But that lull in Ineamorta is the single only piece of music on the Whole album thats chilled and introspective after almost 75 minutes of having your head Chuck Norris'd in.🤣
The last thing then, it needs is a completly unwarranted Hi-Hat happily hissing away over it. The single moment of clarity, reflective calm on the album near its end, and the Hi-Hat wants to still say Hi. 🤣
I hope somebody uploads the song with that Hi Hat removed.👍
Lux Aeterna and Room of Mirrors are the 2 best songs of this new album.
Second half of You Must Burn is a highlight
top 3 - 72 seasons, shadows follow, chasing light
Thin Lizzy is in da house! 🤘🏽🔥
🤘🤘
So you're the grand master of recreating Metallica tones... What is the tone for The Prince from Garage Inc? I've always thought the songs on Garage Inc had a black album type tone but I was just struck by The Prince and thought, this sounds just like the Justice tone and drums, just with bass audible in the mix. Curious on your opinion
Looking at the rest of disc 2 b sides like breadfan and stone cold crazy I think The Prince is the only one with a specific AJFA vibe. Whatever is going on the production and mix is killer.
You must Burn second part is INCREDIBLE!
This is the video on youtube so far
Most metallicastylish moments of the album... Twins of room of mirrors reminds me of to live is to die.
trudat
You Must Burn from about 3 : 35 on is magic
how do you create IR’s?
These are definitely the best Metallica songs
But I love the Black Sabbath and Grunge groove to songs like You Must Burn! And Crown of Barbed Wire
Room of Summer
Lords of mirrors
%100 accurate opinion
🤘
Clearly AFJA is your favourite album :-)
Assuming you aren't trolling about Too Far Gone and Room of Mirrors, those were my favorites too. The rest was just luke warm to me. I didn't hate any of it, but nothing stood out enough for me to remember it. Reminded me of Megadeths new album, in that I can't remember most of it.
72 Riffs
I couldn't agree more \m/
Good old mundane lars
TOO FAR GONE? IS THE BEST SONG!!!!!
i'd say the interlude of Inamorata and the intro of Sleepwalk My Life Away are the best moments of the album
(guess what instrument i play (warning: impossible))
edit: are you wooshing me?
Definitely drums
flute
Skin flute
Triangle
I actually like the title track a lot.
Album is fine.
It's not Justice / MoP, or even DM, but it's not St. Anger and certainly not LuLu either IMO.
72 seasons’ best songs are in the back half… contrasting hardwired, which had the best songs on the front half. For me, I would take hardwired, keep tracks 1-6, and add Spit for track 7, and end the album there. With 72, I’d cut tracks 1-5, start the album with Lux, and keep the rest. Maybe swap out Darkness for one of the early tracks, I dunno…. In both cases, you end up with tighter 7-track albums, IMO.
First three songs on 72 are total trash. Start with Lux and go into You Must Burn. It would be way better.
Sounds kinda like maiden
Oh... I thought it was gonna be one of those funny meem things that just showed a picture of a bass and maybe Lars making a funny face or whatever
How you gonna leave out the "bow weeny wow, bow weeny wow, weeny wow" from you must burn!!
Bruh, how do you just ignore the riff from Crown of Barbed Wire?
It's only me or Too Far Gone sounds a little like Holy Wars?
Faltó una parte de Inamorata... De resto no hay mas nada que rescatar
Is it just me or is 72S not as bad as we thought? Maybe on par (or a bit lower than) with Death Magnetic?
Why does nobody talk about “Sleepwalk my life away”? The song’s just great…
Its aight
Vocals and bass work on that song is incredible. Rob seems to have such a high level of presence all over this album and it shines the most in songs like sleepwalk and inamorata
whoaoaoaoaooaoa where tf is Inamorata
Meh. I like the last 30 seconds of Crown of Barbed Wire the most, the mid-section riff in the bridge of Sleepwalk My Life Away, and the last 3 minutes of You Must Burn. Those harmonies in the video are alright I guess, but they also sound like Metallica wrote them 30 years ago, not in a good way.
Both are amazing but come on, how can you not include the part after "NOT WHY IM LIVING"
Do " what if Mustaine was still in Metallica" ?
The harmonies toward the end of the album reminded me of what was missing from the rest of the record. There are some good moments on the album but they are few and far between. Mostly
it is full of filler. Felt like a cut and paste job with no discipline for editing down and cutting out the fat. Still love the band but I can’t pretend I like it just because I really wanted to.
Thats a fair statement. Some of the riffs in general are the same E-F-E-F chug that, tag along to end many of the songs. It is repetitious and stale. This is hammered home by Hammet's hammerings on the same stagnated scale over and over each song. My first initial listens, I thought I had heard an 80 minute long song with no breaks.
Two days later, and Im hearing great flashes of things that, chugged and grinded past me before. The album is a grower, that I look forward to working with more over time.
But I agree with you aswell- the harmonies are missing from the rest of the album and it lacks dynamics. Side 1 of Hardwired had 6 songs all different in time, tempo, mood and melody from eachother that flowed nicely when listened all together. 72 Season's lack of dynamics, range, tempo changes, clean tones and harmonies made me fell that it all meshed and muddled together in a blur at times. But Id like that to change.
Don't forget CHASING LIGHT and it's badass chorus
I can’t get past Lar’s drumming to enjoy the riffs. Wished he would learn to add some fills.
real
72 Seasons blows Hardwired out of the water imo
