Great footage. I remember going on Goldmine the first year it opened. The first drop with the wind blowing in your face was quite scary for a 7 year old. Interesting that the lights were on. There’s a full video of goldmine with the lights on somewhere.
ikr!! it was so exhilarating as a child, wind in your face, that distinct smell, no idea which way you were going. In this video it looks a lot slower than what i remember
Me and my dad rode this when I was either 10 or 11, so either 2004 or 2005. We went to the cafe that it ran next to afterwards for a bite to eat. If I remember correctly, it still had its original decor at that time and it looked nice.
@@simonp7095 it’s not a shorter ride. I believe that that section of river caves has a starry led lit ceiling so you can’t see above :) not sure what happened to the cafe tho

My 1st visit to Blackpool Pleasure Beach was 1988 when " The Avalanche" opened and the second reminded me of BTTF pt3 (1990) "The Gold Mine" 😂❤

Me too, it was great to wave to the diner's in the chicken place and shout to riders on the river caves.
Looping Lee Theme parks, Roller coasters and more yep that was my favourite part about it :(

Not sure what happened to the cafe, used to be very good waving to diners though. River caves is still the same route.

Its amazing how they changed this ride into Wallace and Gromits Thrill o Matic
It was a big project, I like the old and new versions of this ride

They really should’nt remove that ride it was amazing.

If I go on Wallace and gromit and close my eyes and wear ear phones I might be able to image what this ride was like
