I have one and love it. I even listened to a CD yesterday 😂 I would not have bought it if it was a turbo V6. The competitors may be a better option for others but the IS500 was perfect for me
As a person who sells cars and owns a 23 IS500 premium. I’m really confused by the transmission gripes. If ur just cruising in manual mode giving the throttle less than 40% it’s going to shift slow and smooth. If ur in sport plus and u give it 40% or more as u shift it’s a solid stiff shift in a hasty manor if ur going slow and u down shift it will not rev match and will downshift very lazy. If ur above 4k rpm’s and down shift it’s fast. If ur above 5k rpm and downshift it’s instant and sounds amazing. A lot of what I here sound like none car guys who dnt now how to operate the trans or isn’t listening to the car. All that talk about the chassis being old, these guys aren’t even going to push any car to the limit on a circuit or on interchange on the highway. Rather is500 or M340i they aren’t drivers and are just wanting to be able to say “my car does 0-60 in blah blah”. The interior was ahead of its time first and foremost in 2014. Some of the Germans are assembled in Mexico and we know it’s gonna be noisy cabin with cheap materials in 4 yrs. Put the spec sheet down and actually drive the car
man I've been saying this for the longest time, how you apply the throttle is going to dictate how it's going to respond, not everything is about mashing the gas pedal..glad someone out there else notices this as well
Agree 100%…Having owned a Porsche Cayman with PDK, that car always shifted super snappy in all driving conditions. I never really enjoyed that around town driving conditions or cruising at lower speeds. When you are giving the throttle hard is when the IS500 shifts hard and snappy and gentle in low speed casual driving. I personally think this transmission balances both personalities of this car perfectly.
I'd rather take a dated interior with buttons than to have touch screen everything. There's no reason for me to have to go thru multiple screens to turn on seat warmers.
More technology means more data generation. People are already experiencing higher insurance premiums because of the way they drive. Ever wonder what the G-force monitors can be used for? Hard acceleration, sudden stops, and drifting increase G-force. That suggests recklessness at the wheel. More money for insurance companies from the Fast-and-the-Furious wannabes.
Last of the last NA V8s. I think 2025 will change it all. The 2UR is same as in LC500 and the Aisin 8 Speed with a decade long of tuning and refinement plus the lexus luxury. This is a real dream car one of a kind. Get it lads while you can.
As many have said, once you drive it, you will understand. I just purchased one with while and black interior. Having driven it on road trips to both the coast and Carson City, it is a comfortable road car capable of getting > 25 mpg when driven on cruise control at 70mph. Driven on Hwy 50 to Carson City it makes easy work of passing slower vehicles in the short length passing lanes. Contrary to many, I also like the ML audio with the CD player as I have enjoyed burning custom CDs . WAV files still have optimal sound characteristics. Overall, this is a nice comfortable vehicle that can be coaxed into either of its Jekyll and Hyde personalities.
I almost thought of buying the TLX type S PMC red but decided to wait for the 2024 Lexus IS500 F-sport, just love the V8 engine, I don't care about Tesla
Lol why would you ever need the electronic parking brake button unless it was a situation of the car being unable to drive? It automatically engages and disengages when shifting into park or drive. Also, dash plastic is just as nice as what you get in a 3-series. You have to get the optional SensaTec dash to do better. Besides, the IS dash has more stitching, which is not optional. But I mean, for someone who wants this car, these things matter very little anyway.
Did you know there’s a kickdown in the gas pedal? When you think your flooring it your not…push further with ur foot and you will feel a pressured click. When you push that down that’s when the beast awakes (down shifts to lowest gear for fastest acceleration at what ever speed your at).
@@JimmyMakI don't know if you do, in the video it's accelerating super slow in second gear, when your indicating to us your giving it full beans. Mine literally will not hookup in 2 gear unless I'm on the cleanest smoothest surface ever, even then the traction control light is on the whole way. Also a tip, if you want the engines full potential completely disable traction control, if you don't it will never give full power in 1st, 2nd and even sometimes 3rd. Also you lost quite a bit of credibility when you said to take it out of manual mode for the best experience unless something was wrong with your car I don't know how you could come to that conclusion.
@@85CEKR I do know and that wasn’t full throttle. In the video I sis demonstrate the vehicle in manual mode and since it shifted slower than most other modern day vehicle I didn’t feel a need to use it.
@@JimmyMak I'm coming from a 340i though and I can tell you it actually shifts faster, but its shift speed is completely dependent on how much throttle you are giving it, at half throttle yes its slower, at full throttle its the same or faster and definitely has harder shifts. Saying it's slow or even slower than the competition is completely false. I understand people not liking that it's speed is based on throttle input but at least say that, don't say it's slow. I personally like how it's slow and smooth when your causing but fast and brutal when your on it. If you prefer it fast all the time that's fine but I don't get why all these reviewers like yourself leave that pretty vital but of information out.
@@85CEKR it was that instance I wasn’t using full throttle. I’ve tried the vehicle at full throttle and manual shift. It’s noticeably slower than competitors with ZF and others with dual clutches. This is not just by feel but by specs as well. Please take a look at the transmission time from their respective data sheet.
Every reviewer loves to point out that the IS 500 is "slower than its competitors." That really needs to be qualified. Yes, the BMW M340i, Audi S4, and Merc C43 are faster to 60, but really, we're only talking about a half second difference. Wow, big deal! The IS500 has a sub-5 second 0-60 time, and that's plenty fast for a daily driver. The real problems with the IS 500 are the transmission (too slow), squishy pedals (especially brakes), and the cabin is too cramped up front (especially in the footwell).
I have one and love it. I even listened to a CD yesterday 😂

same here, picked one up in march, love it and watching DVD on the ML system
And it wouldn't have that wonderful V8 sound.

I don't think he was in full manual mode. Like, he left it in "D" drive and used the paddles.
@@ARentz07 smh lol, then how is he giving a well thought out review of the driving experience? I dnt get these guys that review cars.

Certainly the last of its kind.
I live this car I bought 2 is500 in 1 year.
That color is absolutely stunning in person
Handsome piece of kit really. Especially in this red.
The red really pops!
I have one in the same color. It gets so much attention.
@@ARentz07 hopefully not too much attention from the cops.

10:40 its faster in manual mode
Faster shift and gives you 500- 300 rpm more and lets you experience the 472 you paid for 😅😂😂

Thank you kindly!

I’m looking for my old CDs to reminisce in an old school V8 my dream car in highschool!!!

Jimmy - can you provide the baby seat names again? Considering this car, but need to make sure baby seats fit. Thanks!
For sure, the seats used were Clek Liing for infant seat and Clek Foonf for the rear facing convertible. HTTPS://www.clekinc.com
That color 👌
Love a good red car
This guy has a crush on doug demouro, I can tell😂😂😂😂

hold the advance track button for 3-4 seconds, you will thank me.
The Lexus ML system is CD/DVD, non ML system only CD
Would this car be fun on track, Jimmy?
I think we should find out 😏
95% of the interior looks like the 3IS250 from 10 years ago. Toyota:
Certainly aged interior. But for those who had those cars before they don’t have to relearn! That’s a positive…. Right? Lol
True but it's made at Tahara plant Japan. And 2UR GSE is on its way out.
