- Former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert called upon UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Thursday to boycott a planned visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the United Kingdom in the coming weeks.
Olmert, who led Israel between 2006 and 2009, called Netanyahu’s government “anti-Israeli” and criticised it for its treatment of Palestinians, calling it a “shame to the basic values of the people of Israel and the Jewish people".
He also called upon other leaders of countries friendly to Israel to boycott Netanyahu, saying that “those who are in favour of the state of Israel should be against the prime minister of the state of Israel"

A lot of pro-Palestinian people such as you and I aren't fully aware of Israel's internal politics and different strands of Zionism. There are 3 main strands of Zionism, Labour, Generalist and Revisionist. Historically speaking, such as in the 60s and 70s Israel was mainly Labour Zionist. Meaning they were mainly seeking to secure their borders rather than continue to further occupy Palestinian and Arab lands, however of course the Arab's at this time were still shocked by the British broken promise of that land to them, meaning that at that point in time Arab nations wanted to dismantle Israel completely. However once Israel got the atomic bomb they no longer faced any existential threat something they pretend they still face as an excuse to carry out genocide and further occupation, hence Labour Zionism went out of fashion. The Israeli right such as Netanyahu are revisionists, meaning they believe in genocide and occupying all Palestinian lands, beyond their internationally recognised borders, this is a view that I think most Israelis today would support.
