- Time to run through an Xbox One Blu Ray drive replacement. Nothing left out, full disclosure. Please leave me a comment or ask questions if you need to know anything and I will do my best to come back to you.

Please note the Blu Ray drives do vary a bit so please make sure your purchasing the right one.

Thank you for showing how to replace the print plate of the Blu ray drive!, our Xbox is working again. using the old print plate in the new drive is apparantly key here. Did not know that. Thank you for sharing the information

Great video straight to the point. Decided to boot my xbox one up after many years to play some older games. Lucky me it decided to eat one of my disks so this video came in handy lol.

What is the difference between the xbox one reader lens model DG-6M1S-03B and the xbox one lens model DG-6M1S-01B?

Sorry, the yellow cable makes some sense, to be placed, because I bought a new reader, they changed it and when it came time to insert a disc it doesn't suck it, so I went back to the other old one and the same thing happened. Could it be that I put it wrong and cause a short circuit?
So some people I see have done this and it works but then some don’t work. Would you think the board could be the problem in the drive for not reading games?

This was great. One suggestion though would be to do the de-soldering and soldering while the daughter board is still screwed in. It makes for a more stable platform to work on.
Oh, I managed to drop one of those tiny black screws into the replacement drive. I can't seem to get it back out :(

What kind of screwdriver do you use to take the pcb board out
Why when we buy a new disc drive for a xbox one and still have to change the board? It kinda doesn't make sense to me. Why it would work if it's made for xbox one?

Hey I was just wondering if I can replace it but with our soldering it just completely change the disk drive why should it matter to change the board ?
The board on the disk drive is linked to the motherboard so if you don't swap it you get errors when trying to play games.
I been looking on eBay to buy a disc drive for my Xbox one it won't play a game on disc sometimes it might load up a game
You can change it for any compatiable ebay one but you need to make sure you change over the PCB
Are there any specific tools needed for this and could I use a drive from a different Xbox one (it was fried by lightning) to put in my Xbox one where the disc drive is faulty
There are a couple of variations of the disk drive so you will need to open both to check the model of the drive matches. You will also need some basic soldering equipment as you will need to de-solder and swap the boards in drive. Beyond that you will need a small cross head screwdriver and some star shaped bits.

I did this repair on my Scorpio edition. I soldered on my original daughter board onto the new optical drive. My console reads discs perfectly now but I have a new issue. I need to keep a disc in the drive otherwise my console turns on and the drive makes weird noise. Does anyone else have this issue? Do you know the solution?
Never seen that one before, it's possible the new drive is faulty. Is the model exactly the same?
@@WeRepair The model is exactly the same. I guess it may have been a bad refurbished unit. So you have never seen this issue before?
@@cemsengul16 Ive not come across this issue myself. Could be worth trying a drive swap again? What was the initial issue with the old drive? Can that one be repaired?

What would happen if i dont replace the board and just swap the disk drives?
Then you won't be able to read any disks. You will just get an error on the screen. The board in the DVD drive is paired with the motherboard of the Xbox.

It's likely you have left the wifi Ariel disconnected after re-assembly or it's been damaged on removal

so I have a 2015 forza ed xbox one (base xbox one), if I bought a disc drive from like 2013 instead of 2015, would it still work? I remember hearing somewhere that different xbox one models need different optical drives is this true?
You will need to open up your Xbox and check which model the drive as there are two different models if memory serves me correctly and you will need to swap the PCB over from old drive to new.
@@WeRepair coincidentally I was just opening my xbox lol, the disc drive model is a DG-6M2S-01B and was manufactured may 2015
Ok cool, just need to check the one in the other Xbox is compatible, means taking it apart I'm afraid
@@WeRepair oh no I'm trying to buy a spare drive instead of another xbox, I'm guessing though that if mines a 6M2S, then I can't use a 6M1S on my one? On ebay everyone seems to sell their drives like "6M1S/6M2S" and idk if that means they're compatible with each other or something

My disc makes a clicking sound sounds kinda like a printer when printing stuck on repeat click click click but wont read anything games etc i think i need to replace my bluray.
I would open it up sounds like an easy fix inside the drive. Maybe a stuck laser.
@@WeRepair i did opend it up cleand it but the lazer disc was to high teck for me i thought the same (stucklazer) but i could move the lazer up and down when opend up so i closed it up again and stil ticking tick tick tick zz zz zz. Anyway thanks man
Your going to have to carefully power on the console with it open to see where the ticking is coming from that's my only other suggestion. Be really careful around live power though.
How did the test go for the drive in this video after replacing the board? Pretty sure I'm going to need to do the same.
