- The ever so popular Redline Torpedo Barb or Denison Barb had been in my wishlist for quite some time. I have had documented these underwater at Sullia, Karnataka in the past, but the overnight rain made the river very murky and the video quality was disappointing. Words cannot express the happiness of finding these adorable barb in nature.
Species that coexist are Pseudetroplus maculatus, Salmostoma sp, Mesonemacheilus guentheri, Awaous sp, Glossogobius sp, Dawkinsia filamentosa, Systomus sp, Channa pseudomarulius, Lutjanus argentimaculatus, Rasbora dandia, Devario aequipinnatus, Barilius malabaricus, Hypselobarbus sp, Garra sp, Sicyopterus griseus and Hyporhamphus limbatus.
Thanks to Naveen and Vineesh for making this happen!

So many beautiful aquarium fish come from your country.
Two of my favorite fish together...Denison barb and D. filamentous...in nature with
sparkling clear water. Absolutely phenomenal video. This should go viral worldwide.
You must be so proud and happy about this. I'm so happy for you.
Thank you. Let your Fish keeper friends know and help make this viral ;)
Actually, I already have. Specifically, I sent it to Aqua Kri who has posted
an orange chromid breeding with fry. ruclips.net/video/yblxWBUlw7Y/видео.html
Take a look. I think you'll like it.
@@Fishplore just praying these fish should not go extinct because of over exploitation by Aquarium trade
So beautiful. Good to know that here Denisonii is succesfully bred by locals. I hope they thrive in their natural habitat
Thanks Shankar for giving me a wonderful opportunity to come along with you. It was an awesome experience to see such a gorgeous fish in its habitat.
I love these fishes. The elegant beauty that shows within their colors. Truely an amazing creation. So i went and got 40 of these fish. 1 word to describe them, "Amazing."
What to see more videos of this kind! I'd rather watch them in the wild once a year than putting them in aquariums!
Can you mention the rivername or co-ordinates of the location?
Great footage. Thanks for sharing 💝
Requiem for a dream is an interesting choice of a sound track . Love the video and the fish are beautiful .
Even I was thinking the same, requim for a dream and the way the pitch/tempo varies when he found them.
@@aquaholicindia thank you for the observation! I try to use a soundtrack that syncs with the fish movements. Check Nano fish, Orange Chromide, Predator and Prey and the most latest Killifish video for the sync attempt
@@Fishplore sure thing. Thanks a lot for the videos.
What cam/equipment do you use ?
Nikon AW130
@@Fishplore Thanks a ton

Great video bro..god bless you..may they grow enough and enough..such a wonderful creature..
Are they proected by locals there? I just love the location.
I recently picked up 8 denison barbs...great fish
Awesome, thanks for sharing! Subbed
Same here!
Beautiful video, the first time I see denisonii in nature. I learn now from your video, that they live in flowing water. there are suppressed plants in the biotope, if so, which species. thank you

Full grown Roselines sell for $50. Large Mascara barbs even more and much harder to find small.
Very nice video. Lots of Hard work in it . I think u should also mention other fish seen in this video. And music is too loud hope u hav soft music and mentioned other fish it will be great
Actually, puntius denisonii already captive breed fish in Indonesia.
We send this beautyful fish, hundred thousand to worldwide every month.
Omg, they look great in the wild
very nice 👍👍👍
Where is this place in Kerala?
Beautiful video. I have 6 of these beauties in my 150 gallon. They are stunning and I absolutely love them. At 4.20 what are the other fish with the Denison barbs ?
Dawkinsia filamentosa
Thank you I realised later that you have mentioned it in the chat earlier. Sorry for that. Do they have a common name? Would love to add some to my fish room
Filament Barb
Leave them in natural habitats.. They are nearing extinction.. They are not adapted for aquariums like other imported fishes..
@@creeper9650 yeah I feel same .. they should thrive more in nature
my heart beat so fast for my no.1 fave fish - the denison barb! ?😍
Wow!! Big denison barb in a wild
Nice find. What were the fish feeding on?
Dead mollusc..
Nice barb , in my village in Central Borneo Indonesia we have to,like snakeskin barb, tiger barb,t-barb and many more ❤️ 👍.
Lets we support each other to conservate all kind wild barb 🙏
Amazing video Shankar
Fish love amazing
A combination of Habitat destruction and unsustainable harvesting for the aquarium trade have almost driven this species to extinction. Are there any reintroduction programs taking place?
Yes . The government has banned the exporting these fish.
Beautiful video
Very very cool video.
Bro, from which place you got these? I am trying to get my hands on these, I know they are near extinct and my plan is to find an effective method to homebreed these so that fewer fishes will be caught from the wild, thanks
Btw I live in palakkad
A river near Kannur
I saw them in the wild they're nice to see living the best life they could ever have
That aquarium is about 20 miles long?😁
@@StanTheObserver-lo8rx oh hey there stan
Awesome 👍😊
Awesome work!
The fish is now bred in captivity. So I guess these fishes will live to see an other day.
really ? how many
@@ChaitanyaArige This was done by Dr Anna Mercy in NATP project. Has stopped the wild capture almost completely.
Any tips on the temp? hardness? pH?
The fish you get in the fish stores do not require any certain parameters..cause they are tank bred..so jst keep them cool and in a clean tank with lots of oxygen
Denison barbs should not be kept in aquariums! let people know about that they are endangered!
Fuck you I have two in my aquarium & they are doing just fine.
I keep captive raised dennison barbs here in Australia.
@@MadCaleb same here in Germany. I would never buy Denisons from the wild. But they are so awesome
We can breed them in aquarium so how can it get Extinction
Yeah I got 6 🤷🏽♂️n they doing fine in my tank
Send me some
Please guys do not destroy the natural environment of India anymore. Stop over population and save their natural habitat
