i found that using chewies made the pain go away much faster after each new tray! It hurt a bit at first but it went down a lot quicker.

    Hi Dr Bailey,
Thank you very much for your videos. I am 58 yo. I have just started Invisalign treatment for 10 days. I was told by my dentist to chew the chewy at least 1 hour a day. I already have had broken iChewey. Am I chew too much? Please advise.
    Thank you very much.

Great tips, thanks for clarifying how & exactly how long to use chewies.
Can chewies be adequately cleaned in an ultrasonic machine with Retainer Brite-type tabs?

That’s likely fine or soak in hydrogen peroxide for 5-15 minutes. Change them out periodically.

Hi doctor, i wore braces before the pandemic and my alignment has been fixed, but while i was wearing rubber bands to fix overjet the pandemic start i got depressed and loss compliance. I stopped visiting orthodontist and stopped wearing rubber bands. At one point my orthodontist said my gum and tooth decay was too bad that I could not keep wearing braces. So I am now 2 yrs without braces but still with an overjet. How should I go about fixing my overjet now? My front top and bottom now has 3mm gap. Is Invisalign an option? How much longer would it take to fix my overjet?

Thank you far all Melissa ! For the superb app and all the answers you have given me.
My treatment is finished today , the result is perfect and I now have to wear my retainers at night only .I've read so many recommendations to wear retainers 22 hours for the first year or at least the first few months...I don't mind wearing my retainer constantly and I'm thinking of wearing it constantly for a while.I did ask my dentist but she didn't seem very sure of her answer. Maybe because she doesn't have enough perspective with this technology and she 's not an orthodontist.
How long do you think I should keep my restraints on for 22 hours a day before wearing them only at night? (sorry for my english ).

Congratulations on finishing. The scientific literature suggests a minimum of four months of full time retention (4-12 months for most patients) followed by night time wear indefinitely.

I got some munchies on Amazon and prefer those over chewies. They are silicone and I feel they are easier to clean. I soak them in retainer bright when I soak my trays. I find myself wanting to chew non stop the first 3 days of a new tray but I’m guilty of over chewing.

I'm on my 19th tray, the new set of trays are of a very thin material and doesn't feel any grip.
I can't find información about it.

Are there any chewie brands recommended by orthodontists?

Hi, I’ve been using my chewy on a regular at least 3 times a day, or more, and my orthodontist is still saying that the aligner is still not flush. When I did my recent scan, I made sure that I used the chewy b4 doing the scan with my aligners in. There is still space between some of the teeth and aligner. Any tips, or thoughts?

I have what appear to be power ridges, but I thought they were just bumps to hold the aligners in place. I have never seen halos and have had almost no pain, except for the first couple of days. I tried chewies, but my aligners go right into place and do not move when I chew them. I did have to get some wax because I was getting small cuts inside my mouth behind my upper lip. That is working well. Thanks for the tips.

I prefer munchies they seat my aligners way more accurately than the chewie did!

I started my first tray last week. With attachments and rubber bands to correct a minor underbite. I never had jaw clicking or pain but I started to wake up with a locked jaw and pain in the mornings. I was told to just take a break from the rubber bands. No further insight nor did they care to ask me more or follow up. I need help can this get better? Is it just part of correcting the bite? Why is my jaw swaying from one side to the other while I sleep. My bottom teeth were crowded so the rubber bands are pulling my bottom K9s back but one side is slightly more forward so it pulls my jaw one way. I hope this makes sense. And talking to my orthodontist won’t help as they just gave me a generic answer but I’m in pain every morning and need help.
