    Thank you for posting this! I had to replace my silicone toggle overlay. Part was $25 and your video talked us through installing it. my wife actually did it. And cleaning the black tarry substance off the pc board made a huge difference!

    Thank you for this video! I was having to smash one of the buttons to get a response, and cleaning fixed it. I also swapped out the buttons for quad switches. FYI, if you have a swing-away joystick mount, you can open up the ICS box without taking off the joystick. I discovered this because one of the chairs I was modding had a rusted out screw holding the bracket on and we could not remove it.

    I keep a roll of blue painters tape handy for holding screws. When in an area where the screws can fall off. Also when putting plastics back together, the screws for plastic augers into the housing, if your able to start the screw by turning to the left you may be able to feel the original start point where the screw was previously and put it back in the same groove. Why that is important is because plastic housings that require frequent service may wear out from the screw essentially reaming the screw hole so the screw will no longer hold.

    Nice video! I use rubbing alcohol and Q-tips to clean the contacts. Sometimes people split the plastic pillars on the case top that the screws thread into, because they cross thread the screws into the already stressed pillars. If you gently place each screw into the proper hole, then slowly rotate each screw COUNTER CLOCKWISE, while applying light pressure, you will feel and maybe hear the threads of the screw pop into the original threads in the pillar. Then you can safely start turning them clockwise to close the case. This is a good technique for avoiding cross threading any screws that fit into threaded holes.

    • @stoneygator
      @stoneygator 3 месяца назад

      Yeah. One of my plastic pillars broke off just loosening one of the four screws. But three screws seems to be holding it all together OK.

    I know you generally focus on Permobile but I would like to know if you dabble in invacare because I have a TDX SP that has a switch box cabling short what is part of control box as it's hardwired and not a separate standalone cable the wire has a short but unclear how to fix. eBay has some parts for roughly 40 to 60 dollars however dealer numotion wants to charge $3,000 for suggested MSRP. There should be something against charging that much for a single part especially just for a bad wire. But it shuts off all power so I have to do something. Was out running it and thankfully I had somebody with me because when it went bad there was no notice chair completely shut off would not power back on but noticed wiggling the wires what causes you intermittently fash to life. Oddly enough my permobile has the same issue and it's due to I think the chargers overheating the remote socket getting all the way back to the 2.5M 89.5 R-net cable causing a short or break. Because the charger socket jacket getting hot damaging remote in both chairs possible top left pin but then after socket damage doesn't matter what charger you plug up to it they too will overheat not sure why. It's the new style chargers that you spoke about in another video but the problem is supposedly was supposed to be fixed.

    Great idea to split two types of videos; Mr Fixit and Mr Life and Times in a Wheelchair... are you going to have two channels? Hardcore cleaning of circuits after Alcohol wipes would be using the end of an eraser gently, it will break our crud alcohol won't, blow off residuals.

    I'm a amateur wood worker. I've had to clean my buttons 3-4 times in 2-1/2 Year's. However I've snagged the wire on something and damaged it. I cut the bad spot out and soldered it back together. Did a good repair, i thought. I have a ICF bad wire code that flashes on my screen. Do you know how to clear the code? Tripping the power switch doesn't do it. Thanks in advance. Love your informative videos. Chair is a 2020 permobil 300m

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  Год назад

      hmm my other reply disappeared LOL
      id check and make sure the cable didn't come disconnected inside the ICS switchbox - and also use a meter to make sure there's continuity on the entire length of the cable. (from switches to inside of seatback cover on chair) if it got caught and ripped something, its entirely possible that other wires are internally broken as well
      do you have the error code from the screen? sometimes those help narrow things down

    Hi TN, hope you are well. Just a quick question for you, where is the video where you showed how to get into and change some of the settings on the R.net controller please? I did look but couldn't find it. i recall that you have to hold down 2 buttons at once, but i don't recall which ones ha ha?
    We have an old Centro by Magic Mobility ( an Aussie made chair) that was given to us, not working, when we went to pick up other wheelchair related bits. It has an r.net controller. Recently my husband and i have been doing a ton of work on it. I totally disassembled it, NOT FULLY INTENTIONALLY, but I got carried away with cleaning everything and to do that properly, i think, it has to be at least partially dismantled. Unfortunately after taking it all apart I didn't recall how it all went back together. Any way, we though we had it running, well it was def running but when we took it outside we realised it was going extremely and annoyingly slowly. I do recall you saying that the r.net could be speed limited and if that's the case, we might need to take it to a dealer to get it turned off. How ever before I do that i want to exhaust all other options. i only assume it has to do with the r.net, not so much the chair. it seems to turn and start to take off quickly but then goes extremely slowly. It does this no matter what speed profile it's on.

Well come on, I have a C500 vs. and an M300 HD, both with problems in the ICS system. I have an OEM Rnet Dongle, but it is very confusing for me so far. I'm trying to access the Master module, through the 6-pin port and usb - serial rs232 adapter. with the wheelchair builder programmer. but only able to get the product information, but not the “.icsconfig” file. so that it configures to transfer data to another module. you need a USB dongle that connects to a computer, or a hand held programmer. OR sometimes (very rarely) on-board programming is enabled! and if that's the case, and you have a color LCD joystick, ya can program it right from the screen

    hi TN, so glad to find this. I dd end up buying a used circuit board off EEEEEEBBBBBBAAAAAYYYY, lol but it had to come from the US................waiting isn't my strong point lol. So while I waited I cleaned all the bits and pieces with cue tips and metho, yep and the gunk that came off all of that was indeed disgusting and I am super careful with spilling stuff and not using things when my hands are not completely clean.Oh yeah, I am self confessed germaphobe, but in my case being on immune suppression it is completely warranted.
    Any way the circuit board eventually got here and it didn't work. Lots of under my breath cussing and muttering ensued. When checked with a multimeter it turned out the wires/cord were not conducting properly either, my husband did some kind of black magic on the wire, then we had connection. When the lights lit up I did a little happy dance. (it's a big deal when you have never done stuff like this before. My husband is Mr fix it around here but not being able to do so many things due to my conditions it's a big deal when you learn new things and carry them out AND they save you money. Oh and it stops you being reliant on others and most importantly you don't have to wait on things.......lol
    OK So then the lights lit up but when we pressed the buttons nothing happened. Before I saw this I wasn't keen on cleaning the circuit board because I thought they were far more sensitive than they obviously are. I have some individual alcohol preps I used for my injections so I will go and try that now. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers and thanks for putting this content out there, it's extremely helpful.

    Everyday that goes by my ventor takes away features he said i could get. I told I was going to be able to get those permo style switches and now I can’t them. 9pin issues. I have to settle for the Amy blue seat push buttons. If you ever get around to it I’d love to see you demo those round blue seat control buttons/switches. Now I was just told by my Vendor that I weigh too much for the 8.5mph. I’m so pissed I feel like nixing the deal. Apparently you can’t weigh more than 250 pounds to get the faster 8.5 motors.

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  6 лет назад

      yea - when i got my amy it was the same issue.. i weighed too much for the speed option. those blue buttons are annoying.. the chair has to be completely stopped before they'll work, and its one function at a time... and cant move the chair while adjusting the seat

    • @StarTrooper
      @StarTrooper 6 лет назад

      Is there any way to work around their weight limit? Can I get the 8.5 & tell them to lock out the speed level?

    • @TotallyNormal-
      @TotallyNormal-  6 лет назад

      problem is, the higher gears they use, put a lot of extra load on the motors - and weight, or hill climbing etc puts an exponential strain on things.. I'd worry about overheating the motors, and the controller.. my permonil C500 that i swapped high speed motors into, wasn't designed for them with how much the chair weighs, and i have to be careful about overheating things. it goes into thermal lockout quite easily- even at low speeds!
      wish i had some better news for ya...

    • @StarTrooper
      @StarTrooper 6 лет назад

      Thanks for the input. I never thought about overheating. I guess I won’t push Amysystems too hard on it. I sent a email earlier to Amy systems to find out why they would not allow someone with my experience to use the 8.5 motors.

      that error is saying the seat lift isn't connected... so something probably happened to the wiring etc.. those cables can get screwy if the cable ties and clips aren't 100% in the perfect spots...
      also sometimes simply unplugging and re plugging in all of the seating ICS BUS cables can fix things.. esp if there's been water or dust / dirt around things...
