RAV4s are great cars. When looking at reviews most of the bad ones complained about it being "boring". As I don't need the excitement of going to the auto mechanic I took that as a good thing.
lmao u funny
I literally have fantasies about this boring car. It seems to work well
AWD is a game changer. This was my first winter with an AWD and it seriously goes right through snow like its not even there. I didnt even have to shovel my driveway, I could just go right through it.
Same here. Got my First AWD Car like two years ago, im not going back for my daily driver!
@@lofthousehh how’s fwd in the snow?
How much snow had fallen?
AWD + Snow Mode enough to get through the snow even without winter tires? I just picked up my Rav4 2022 last week, came with all seasons tires (M+S). I would mainly be driving around city town.
_I just test drove the XLE Premium and loved it! I feel like it was very stable (didn’t sway around corners) which I like how it did._
AWD good, decent snow tyres even more good, both very good together
Love my rav4 handles great in the Michigan winter slight upgrade from my Subaru Impreza hatch.
Thank you! I just bought a 2024 RAV4 AWD with the weather package since I live in a snowy area and normally leave for work before the plows are out. I slid a lot in my old GMC Terrain in spite of the AWD, so I was hoping that snow mode would equal better traction. I'm glad to see that it does help.
For remote start you need to hit lock lock and hold down lock a 3rd time for 10 seconds. You should have it with that package
May i ask why you chose the non-hybrid as everyone seems to gravitate towards?
I live in Colorado at 7000ft of elevation and drive a 2001 Chrysler Town and County Awd and its amazing how well it does it the snow. The weight and length help and so does having my kids in the car to weigh it down. Even if you put just a lil extra weight in the back it would help a bunch. Especially in pick up trucks but it does help in awd vehicles too. Love the videos and can't wait for more!
Jeff check your app for the car. You may have remote start and not realize it. My ford has it through an app not the key fob.
its intresting that it dosent seem to common to use winter/snowtires in US when temputures are below freezing point. In sweden its law that you have too use it between 1 dec and 31 mars. Seem like risky business too use summer tires in the winter, will effect the stopping distance big time
What is the rule on All-Terrain tires in Sweden? All-Terrains are better in heavy snow
@@jacobpoucher bruh you get rear ended in a snow storm and your first instinct is beat the shit out of someone?
He said he was driving on all season tires? Of cxourse, dedicated winter tires would be better but Jeff said that basically as well.
@@jakeganey7032 all terrain tires are definitly not better in the snow than winters. They may be better for crawling over large mounds of snow, but are nothing compared to studded winters for stopping power. That layer of ice under the snow is what kills, not the snow itself.
@@jacobpoucher So you’re willing to assault someone over it? WTF! 🤣
Glad you enjoy the Car! Thanks for the Review!
Michelin Ice-X Snow are the winter tires to get.
RAV4 does perform great in snow and ice it does a lot better with snow tires
Looks like car did good in the snow 🌨️.
Great review. I’m planning to get a rav4 and im really hoping the 2023-2024 rav4 improved their wipers going more far to the left.
Do you have a dash cam Jeff? My sister got me a Vantrue for Christmas. It’s definitely something worth having!
You might have remote start built in the keyfob. Press Lock, Press Lock again, then press and hold lock for 10s
thanks but I dont its only available through the upgraded stereo package...NOT part of the winter package I do have lol...strange huh...Thats trick is for people who dont know as much about vehicles and buy a car without researching every single thing 1st...
@@cutlerylover aww man that’s unfortunate. I wonder if 22 model has it
When you mentioned standard and at snow mode , did you disconnect the screen settings on the dash screen ?
Summer here in California, I drive mostly on Freeway with AWD disconnect and start stop dis-engage, wonder if I doing right or wrong. Never own a AWD before.
While I appreciate this demo, I’m not sure what anyone expects to happen with only a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Any AWD vehicle is going to have no issue, with slight slippage here and there……
thats a good assumption but just that, and assumption ill probably never have to drive on roads with more snow than this...BUT to be fair this RAV4 WAS different than my Challenger which had ASD and although I liked it, it slipped around way more than this, and there are many different AWD systems that work different to transfer power when tires slip some are better than others...For example my mother has a Suburu, I believe it has a 50/50 AWD system so 50% of the power is up front and 50 at the back at all times but this RAV4 is 2wd to saver gas when the AWD is not needed...AWD is better than front wheel drive and 4wd is better than AWD but a FWD car with snow tires can perform better than a 4WD truck with bald tires so there are lots of factors when your talking about whats "good" in the snow...Im comparing this to a FWD car and a AWD Car and a 4WD truck, the truck was best for sure but this comes in second above my other AWD car experience...
I've seen an inch of snow, on top of an inch of ice.... so it can be very deceiving. By the time I was done with my left "turn", I was facing back the direction I came so I decided to go back home.
Good video, you did what you set out to do, showcased what the rav4 can do in moderate snow conditions. I'm from central Alberta and drive in 2 to 3 feet of snow sometimes but I find the slushy/ice conditions you are driving in are the worst to travel in. Definitely snow tires are the best option.
That is where you are wrong. The snow mode just about cuts out slippage all together. So not all AWD vehicles will do as well on ice/snow as he RA4 does.
@@MikePowlas so you think the rav4 is worth getting?
Great video but I must say the drivers side wiper should push a little more left.
Not enough power goes to the rear wheels, even when the fronts are spinning more from lack of traction.
I'd say with DEDICATED SNOW tires--- (which are BEST for winter--) it would be as good as a jeep-- or maybe better...
Nice dude! Does it do well off road?
I hope to never know, lol...I wouldn't drive offroad with it unless it was totally necessary...
Better off getting a 4x4 vehicle
Jeff what's up with your wiper not completely cleaning the snow off the windshield, that would bug the hell out me.
thats where the system stops its normal and it bugs me too lol...
Please sub to this man......with gas prices now days this video probably cost him a good $100 👍
_I know! 💰 Gas is getting expensive quick!_
I have drove my 2020 RAV4 with all ECO on with the delicate foot I can do (All Gas Powered) To get 45 mpg out of it.
Sounds really loud? Do you have a window open?
Whole time I wanted to reach into the video and just smash the gas pedal and really see what that baby can handle. That's how I tested the limits of tractor trailer. Had that puppy spinning through a few gears around a corner . She handled it too, perfectly. Never lost control.
Love taking my RAV4 on the beach. Even been on AZ rocky hills.
Have you tried the ghost remote start ?
I'd love one of these- but it's UNDERPOWERED.... take off is WAY too slow- and getting on a freeway could get you hit!!
Plenty of power. I regularly floor mine entering the freeway and have no problem keeping up. Go buy a TRX if you’re bothered.
@@FYMASMD As I said- it's ME- a "feeling" of that happeneing that I can't shake- just can't get past that. I sold them for a few years back in the 80s and I KNOW them to be good- but I just can't get past that feeling.. and after getting mashed between 2 trucks in 99-- well- I have to feel confident in whatever I get.
What's up with the wide area on the left of the windshield where the wiper doesn't reach? On most other cars that is much thinner and parallel to the edge of the windshield. It blocks out a large part of the windshield and makes it hard in mountain driving. Check POV videos from other cars (Toyota or orhers) to compare.
I thought it was only mine.
Gotta scrape it, never had a car that wiped that.
@@TeddytheCorgi1i took mine in and they adjusted the wiper and made it significantly better. can't make it too good since the range is not configurable, they just offset it. if offfset too much it cleans the edge great but no longer rests on the de-icer, and probably also starts getting in the path of the wind
Same weather pattern down here. The daffodils even sprouted. 🤣
Transverse engine = not real awd, more like fwd with rear assist. You can feel the fwd torque steer and no power going back
Is that what the rav4 is? Mostly fwd with rear assist?
@@simd510 yep. open hood, see transverse engine, walk away.
@@keponen331 subaru better?
@@simd510 yes. Subaru has one of the best awd systems. You thinking Forester?
@@keponen331 I'm trying to decide between the rav 4 xle or subaru outback premium. Really like the subaru but I'm a little concerned about reliability. Heard about some people cvts failing
Thanks for the video Jeff my mom is actually looking at getting one for these
works well int eh snow but you cna really bump that up to amazing with a good set of dedicated winter tires...
Good video, I’m looking forward to picking up a RAV4 soon…….
Does this have the 19 inch wheels on?
I would assume in snow mode the engine will rev less high, distribute it's powerband differently and will shift earlier. I can imagine the brakes would be less acute as well.
Mostly this makes me grateful I don’t live in the snow.
I'm in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania it's amazing how different your weather is than ours
Next winter buy steel rims and winter tire ..total different driving
*British battle march music starts playing*
Heated windshield wipers?
Good job getting a Toyota! I bought a Silverado because it was 10k cheaper than the tundra and now I’m kicking myself. The Chevy is 7 years old and falling apart right after the 3 year warranty
Sorry to hear it I had my Chrysler 200, did everything possible to maintain it properly and it just had cooling system problems i could never get over, thousands in repairs later its an old regret...I hope your Chevy gets fixed, I miss my 86 K20 :) Thing was a tank in the snow...BUT it rusted so bad when I shit the door chunks fell off, lol
That’s too bad about the Chevy Silverado because they seem like really amazing trucks when they are new but the people I know that have them deal with rust and fall join issues almost all the time.
@@johnsguitarmusicanddemos I love the looks of my Silverado but it’s a money pit. After 25 years of driving Chevy trucks I’ll never buy another
Mom loves Rav4's as do I, slightly small these days but worth the money, this is her 3rd, she just bought a 2022.
congrats to her :) great vehicle they sell a lot of them for a reason
Best word advice is get snow tires
Can't go wrong with a Yoda
does this have auto stop start?
yes, it was very annoying at 1st but then I got use to hitting the button to turn it off as a routine after starting the vehicle ut every now and then I would forget and then be shocked when it shut off lol...Ive sold this and got into a tacoma without it, its not the end of the world but not great either...the vehicle was awesome besides that...
How fast can I go on snow mode
I want to put a lift and off road tires on my outback
I live in Mn nuff said
Get stuck... please get stuck... only joking lol
it would make the video more interesting but im glad it didnt lol
My 2000 Rav4 does it better. And cars ride better when the bank doesn't own them
Wipers causing a blind spot @ your right A-pillar. Good job engenineers. 🙄
There's been maybe two Mercedes ever built that clear the entire windshield. The odds of not seeing something in both that three inch pile of slush or your side window is incredibly low so if what Mercedes designed didn't catch on there's probably a good reason for it.
