i always like to call this type of jazz fusion "Circuit Jazz" because of how much it really does coincide with motorsport. love the title to this video and love the playlist
I love what you did for the background for this compilation, I always love when people who make music comps on youtube take the time to have clean visuals to accompany the music. :)
@@Wuss2ns Do you remember what you played? I think I recognized some but I want to know since I've been wanting to look at older games for a while and I wanted to know what seemed like a good place to start. Also, the use of CRTs was genius, nice attention to detail.
I cannot believe how good “Calm” is in the Ridge Racer 7 soundtrack. Absolute masterpiece of a song. Then again, it is Ridge Racer, they never miss with the music.
Love that there's San Fransisco Rush footage in the background, the game whos soundtrack is probably the most Anti-Jazz fusion you could get lol, great collection of songs!
@@Wuss2ns If I had to pick a favorite racing series I'd put that at #1, the fact that even in the attract screens the cars are flying all over showed how much fun it was lol
You’d be correct, actually. The first song, “Go Go SEGA Rally” was arranged and performed by the Minoru Mukaiya who used to be the keyboardist for Casiopea.
This is a mix that I keep coming back to. It's very upbeat, it has great variation, and it's shown me several racing games that I would have never tried otherwise. Excellent work.
I've come back to this mix like 5 times now. Excellent mix of chill, eccentric, and bangin' tunes that are so often overlooked and underappreciated in these games while one is perusing menus, customizing cars in their virtual garages, or most obviously, driving like a lunatic. Awesome stuff. Favorite tracks: 8:47 Turning Point (Arrange Version) - So chill, great tune. Probably going to chart this one out if there isn't already one available 28:54 Beachside - Wild changes and that MELODY, in a cute little chibi racer RPG?? 59:46 Colorado - Hilarious. The Mickey's Speedway USA OST did *not* have to go this hard, but I'm so glad it did 1:30:43 Opaque Air - Dat bass. In all the tracks really, but even more so in this one. Also the string shouts and unison runs, sick.
This whole video was me trying not to put 5 choro q songs in it so im glad the one i chose still resonated! appreciate the kind words. the enthusia and auto modellista tracks are really good, shame i don't think either of those games are supposed to be particularly great. really was a time when they would throw a lot of money and effort into non-franchise racing games.
I commend you for including "Best Tone" from Driving Emotion Type-S, as I have that song in my private funk playlist. Besides that song, I have "Extra Time" from Alarm für Cobra 11: Crash Time, which I hope suits this playlist.
that is definitely a video game i have never heard of lmfao congratulations. im not sure if i would call it jazz fusion, seems more like a rock track to me, but im no arbiter of truth on this stuff.
@@Wuss2ns I'm also a little clueless when it comes to genres. I used the Cyanite AI to categorize the songs within my playlist, so of course it wasn't accurate. Another suggestion that I have is the Drift City soundtrack. It contains a very SEGA sound at least, and a few songs do fall in the categories of jazz fusion and funk.
Auto modellista has a bouquet of tunes worthy of a check, just like racing lagoon. You could set the entire rr4 album in between on shuffle here and no one would differ lmao. Great mix.. a superb start with go go sega BTW 🔥🎉✨
This mix was amazing, but I think it should have had music from Sonic R. Maybe the credits theme or the Options music could have been nice to listen since they sound more like jazz fusion
I thought about including Number One, but I feel like the sort of jazz funk house stuff Richard Jacques was doing at this time at least in that game and Metropolis Street Racer might better be saved for its own mix down the line.
"Track 4" from F-1 Challenge at 1:40:54 has some serious bass! I really feel it through my headphones. That bassline reminds me of MJ's Thriller. Funky and powerful.
Glad to see ya saving the best for last with a Sega GT 2002 track. There's not a game series I yearn to return more than SGT, so much soul for a game often seen as a "Gran Turismo clone".
been listening to your playlists and only just realized whos behind the account because of the amy picture, love both these and the smash videos keep killing it
Its always the racing games that have such good jams in them. Also don't know if it means anything but the b-roll was so worth it. Don't have any of my old systems anymore so I got vibe out to some guuud music and get nostalgic too lmao. Cheers man!
YOU ARE SO COOL FOR THIS this might just be my fave music comp on youtube. This is the kind of music that scratches my brain. I got to discover so many bangers through this video. Thank you so much for this absolute blessing
There's a slight transparency to it, so the pixels do subtly change color - shouldn't burn in. Also it does start to wiggle and change colors occasionally starting close to 1:14:00 and thereafter.
I'm so glad you asked! That is Smashing Drive, a Spanish developed Year 2000 arcade driving game that kind of plays like an Endless Runner. It's really fun!
