Great episode Liz & Simon. Omg it made us laugh of you in the mud… things you do to keep the kids happy!! It’s really good to keep showing the realty and how it’s not always sunshine and roses. Subscribed to both of course. Love the channel for everything it offers to so many people for different reasons. Great job 👏 Alexandra
That track look amazing, will definitely be on the list to do with a group of friends. Definitely takes me back to my younger days, camping in a swag while working on stations in the territory. Can't wait to get back out camping after our trouble with the van coming back from WA.
Simon I just have a litre bottle of bar oil for my stihl electric & just tip what ever isn’t used back into the container when I’ve finished cutting. My stihl 390 pisses oil out & I always kick myself when I forget to empty that out 😏 Good on you guys for leaving your comfy van behind & get off the standard ‘big lap’ route that so many seem to do. It’s the upside of our soft floor Patriot camper, being able to take it down this and tracks like Baxter cliffs to cape arid among others. CSR is the best desert track hands down, but any of the tracks that Len Beadell created, the Simpson desert (both the French line & the madigan line), tracks in the Nuytsland are all worth doing.
Did the Holland track about two years ago, five weeks after that cyclone went through after devastating Kalbarri. On my own, in a fourteen year old Ford Ranger with 30"all terrains and a winch with a boat anchor. Took me two days and never used the winch! As you had, an epic adventure with great camping and beautiful views. Might have to do it again after seeing your trip.
Next time over east head to Lithgow and do Jenolan Caves (Not 4wd, but great for kids), and then Baal Bone Gap, Capertee Valley, Glow Worm Tunnel, Long Swaml, Lost City, Blackfellows Hands, Mt Walker, Newnes Plateau, Wolgan Valley, Turon River and a whole lot more. Visit Bathurst, Orange and there are loads of great places to visit there as well.
I seen a couple do WA old Telegraph track. Intresting. 4xoverland canning stock route. But i think buying one of those model rockets and firing off with the kids and watching the parachute open and finding it. They remember for life.
Your young bloke nailed it, just being away from everything and other humans is the best camp to do every now and then. A very care free feeling out there.
That did look epic, well done. I think you were brave (silly) doing without a winch or another vehicle, but alls well ! Have you read “a fortunate life?” If not, very fitting given where you’ve just been. Thanks for sharing
Part 1 & 2 on the Holland Track look to have been a brilliant experience and some non-tow time. Inspiring guys. Inspired to revisit some of our tracks on the east coast side. Loving the backing music too btw...
You have to do a trip on the canning stock route, maybe you could plan for next year and do it with some other you tubers. Got to be a trip on everyone's bucket list.
I bought a deceased estate warn xd9000 winch. Outer looked a little rough. But inside was brand new. A coat of paint it looks new for $350.00. A good buy.
I also love that area. Forrestonia pub, Holland track, woodlines track, caves hill, higginsville, dundus, telegraph track, Baxter cliffs, twilight cove, cocklebiddy and back home. Before it was permission to cross farmland and north to rawlinna then ann beadel to Warburton.
I've enjoyed being on the Holland Track with you. The more the boys DO it by themselves, the better their education. Well done lads. You have awesome parents. I did notice the "hygienic" fingers when the lads made their kebabs! Lovely your series.
Hey Simon & Liz, I love your work and consistency. The Googs Track would be a good one to try. I haven't done it, but it's on the list, as is the Holland track.
Hey guys was good to meet you in person in Kal today , we gasbagged in the car park for so long Woolies shut before we got in 😂the bush camping is epic , we are new to caravanning 99% of our camping so far is bush camping. The track east you were talking about look for Cardunia Soak for a nice camping spot and some Yabbies, the roads are all open at the moment , enjoy your travels might catch you around the tracks . The rocks were , Wallaroo Rock,Boondi Rock,Boorabbin Rocks,Karalee Rocks, this one has some great infrastructure there, these are between Kal and Southern Cross .then up through the northern weatbelt there is a bunch more. Sorry for writing a book , anyway have fun 👍
So nice to see the whole family enjoying themselves so much. Nothing like a good bush camp. Just wish my body could still cope with it. Great episode guys. 👍❤️👍❤️
CSR all day every day. Did it in 2019 with a couple of mates, looking at doing it again in 2026. The Hay River track is also a good one, between the Plenty highway and Poepples corner.
@ tricky yes, but not impossible. The quality of some off road vans can handle it like AOR - Track Trailer T4 etc. Suspension is easily the single most important component for these extreme off road tracks, and as such I think the Track Trailer T4 15” van with the military grade MC2 suspension is the ideal choice - which is why I bought one. The Tvan uses the same suspension, I had one of these and towed it across the Simpson, Hay River, Cape York etc with zero suspension issues for over 10 years. I have no doubt the T4 will do the same. Cheers
It's not suspension I'm worried about, I have no doubt the caravan would make it. It would be fuel range and towing a 3t+ caravan across sand dunes. I don't think it's really viable. With a smaller trailer maybe, but I don't see that in our future any time soon.
We’ve loved your series on the Holland Track but I don’t reckon Pam & I could tackle it nudging 70 years but we will be back in that area next year so will look at your recommendations in the area. Not sure if you have the space, but I store my chainsaw in a “Kelmatt” brand chainsaw bag. It’s oil proof and I put an old towel in it to absorb any oil and it has pockets to store a small oil bottle and spare chains etc.
Southern Cross to Helena and Aurora Ranges then upto Mt Elvere via Hospital Rocks. Great countryside and spectacular views from the top of the Ridge Track.
Hey guys we have loved this series and can’t wait to hit up the Holland soon. We agree it doesn’t get better. Can I ask what brand that bin bag is? Looks good quality and is that wheel cover part of it? Matt and Leisa
So whats does a very snaky area look like? LOL I have a formal garden and have seen 1 black and 1 brown snake in the last few days. The comment did make me smile!
I wonder whether John Holland would’ve taken the muddy hole option or gone around on the sensible track that doesn’t wreck your gear unnecessarily. Keeping in mind he wasn’t a RUclipsr.
From a WA DLPH website "The party, led by Holland, set off from Broomehill for Bayley’s Rush (Coolgardie) on the 14th April, 1893. The group had covered around 680 kilometres in two months and four days, cutting the longest cart road in Western Australia at that time and lessening the journey from Albany by a fortnight. Despite this achievement John Holland and his companions received no official acknowledgement and no compensation from the Government."
@@TheLifestylePioneers Yeah. The railway reached Southern Cross mid 1894 so you'd have to wonder why they did just leave it to being that the most practical way to get there
@ A bit? Don’t like to be negative. I love the woodlands and in a good year the wildflowers can be spectacular. Much of the damage is deliberste. And as you say no place for a caravan, or in parts even a trailer. Keep up the good work.

Glad you're enjoying the content! We love sharing the reality of 4wd adventures, not just the highlights!

Cheers for the tips, mate - we'll have to remember that for the chainsaw
The Old Coach Road, when you are back in Far North Queensland, is a great couple of days with some great history and camping.
Sounds amazing! Thanks for the tip.

That’s a pretty cool track. Some interesting history.

It sure is. A well needed break

Thanks 👍It's all about risk assessment, not that the kids help with that 😂👌 I feel like I've read it years ago but not too sure.

The Canning Stock Route is definitely on our radar!
Sounds good
Great episode just messaged husband and told him to put on list next year . Looks awesome thanks for sharing
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it!
We changed our ARB swag mattress for a zempire monstamat we use a blower to add some air then let it down to suit 👍👍
Nice one, cheers 👍

Enjoy your research of the history and storytelling

We try to keep things real, including the hygiene! 😂

The Googs Track would be a good one to try. I haven't done it, but it's on the list, as is the Holland track.

What an amazing adventure. I wouldn't have thought there'd be so much vegetation. I enjoyed that. Thanks team 😊
We love exploring the diversity of WA, it’s always a surprise!
So nice to see the whole family enjoying themselves so much. Nothing like a good bush camp. Just wish my body could still cope with it. Great episode guys. 👍❤️👍❤️

For sure, they're both on our list! Tricky to do logistically when you're travelling with a caravan though. Especially the CSR

Simply Awesome ❤
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. 👍
ryobi battery chainsaw doesn't need bar oil according to the manual and mine works fine
Interesting, I didn't know that.
Amazing track and scenery and camp spots
Incredible 😍
Bar oil. Use thicker mineral oil, not synthetic and adjust the screw to reduce the flow 😎
Good tip, thanks!
"That guy can get out and walk"
Ha ha ... good one. :)
Hey guys we have loved this series and can’t wait to hit up the Holland soon.

Cheers guys! It's a great spot. The bin bag is from PM Canvas 👍
@ thanks will check them out look strong.
So whats does a very snaky area look like? LOL I have a formal garden and have seen 1 black and 1 brown snake in the last few days. The comment did make me smile!
Lots of rocks and crevices with the warmer days!
Must bring the detector
For sure!
Hi guys, what brand of awning do you have on the cruiser?
It's a Rhino-rack batwing 👍
Hmm some pre-existing tracks with local knowledge maybe🤔
Not sure what you mean?
I wonder whether John Holland would’ve taken the muddy hole option or gone around on the sensible track that doesn’t wreck your gear unnecessarily.
Keeping in mind he wasn’t a RUclipsr.
It's all part of the fun though!
A question if I can. What driving lights are you running? Are you happy with them
They're LP9s by Baja Designs. They're phenomenal lights, easily the best we've ever had 👍
@@TheLifestylePioneersthanks, Iam looking for lights for my 200 series

Great Episode... Back to basics..... just ned a cumfy bed !!
For sure!
Who was that squatting on the side of road 10 minutes into your video
Some random 🤣🙌
Was a much nicer drive in 2010. Before the mudholes. Been back twice since but I’m too old for that stuff now.
Yeah we've heard it's been chopped up a bit.

I don’t know how you can do that without a fly net Your ex neighbour membinup beach phone signal
Cheers mate. You get used to them 😜
Wildlife?
Heaps of Lizards, bird life including emus, a couple of roos here and there
You are now camping not glamping, these are the times you remember the most ...
