So instead they made Sonic3 then later on they made "Sonic & Knuckles" as the cartridge that enables u to connect "Sonic 3" which thus fully completed the story. More so if u get all 7 emeralds from Sonic 3 (when sonic 3 is connected to Sonic & Knuckles) u will find a secret entrance knuckles is guarding. Go to it, lose ur emeralds, then they'll be upgraded to "Super Emeralds" when u regain all emeralds u will unlock: (play as Sonic or Sonic&Tails to unlock Hyper Sonic, play as Tails only to unlock Super Tails or as Knuckles to unlock Hyper Knuckles). Sonic 3 was the first part of the game where Knuckles isn't playable and has only like half amount of stages compared to Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but then Sonic and Knuckles comes in and I guess you can call it an extension without Tails where Knuckles is playable, but Sonic and Knuckles still are like rivals or enemies, and then you have Sonic 3 and Knuckles which is basicly Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles combined and the only difference in this game and other 2 seperated is that you have super emeralds and that you can turn into Hyper Sonic. Are you talking about the prophecy on the wall in the Knuckles fight? It's just The Doomsday Zone in an Incan style, Robotnik with the Master Emerald against Super Sonic. Robotnik pretended the prophecy was him protecting the emerald against Sonic when the Death Egg crashed on Angel Isle after Sonic 2 hence the animosity from Knuckles. He uses the distraction to rebuild the Death Egg and later, the distraction from Knuckles fighting Sonic to steal the Master Emerald.

It's good practice for if you have to do it without a flame shield. The flame shield trivializes what should be a tough boss fight.

Sonic 3 was the first part of the game where Knuckles isn't playable and has only like half amount of stages compared to Sonic 3 and Knuckles, but then Sonic and Knuckles comes in and I guess you can call it an extension without Tails where Knuckles is playable, but Sonic and Knuckles still are like rivals or enemies, and then you have Sonic 3 and Knuckles which is basicly Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles combined and the only difference in this game and other 2 seperated is that you have super emeralds and that you can turn into Hyper Sonic.

Are you talking about the prophecy on the wall in the Knuckles fight? It's just The Doomsday Zone in an Incan style, Robotnik with the Master Emerald against Super Sonic.
Robotnik pretended the prophecy was him protecting the emerald against Sonic when the Death Egg crashed on Angel Isle after Sonic 2 hence the animosity from Knuckles. He uses the distraction to rebuild the Death Egg and later, the distraction from Knuckles fighting Sonic to steal the Master Emerald.
