Bill still sings this song in his show and ends it with “Bobby’s got a helluva band”. On Bobby’s grave marker is “If you believe in forever, life is just a one night stand”. They were a bit ambivalent about the song - it was a hit for them but it wasn’t “a Righteous Brothers song”, but they knew most of those artists.
I cry every time I hear this song because Bobby is up there too. The brothers said in an interview that this was not a typical Righteous Brothers song.
I love Bobby,s voice when he comes in on this, I’m 72 and heard all these through the years, I played lead guitar so my ears were always tuned to the radio. Subscribed , love your reactions.❤😊
Great song. I'm glad you covered this song. "Rock And Roll Heaven was a hit for the Righteous Brothers in 1974. It paid tribute to many of the great rock and roll stars that we lost up to that point. It's my favorite Righteous Brothers rocking song. Great idea, Baby Gap. Since we've lost so many other music legends since 1974, I always felt someone needed to record a sequel Rock And Roll Heaven Part 2.
@@affirmedny I never knew that they ever updated it. Thank you for posting the link. It was great that they paid tribute to Elvis Presley and John Lennon in their updated version.
It was updated to include various artists that died after '74. I used to hear it on a radio station up in Pittsburgh. Never found out if it was cut as a single or just on LP. Anyway, very good job reviewing a song that doesn't get enough airplay on Oldies stations.
My family and I saw them and Sonny &Cher at Magic Mountain in 74 while on vacation they were great. The Mc was Mr Haney from Green Acres and other person was tyhe U.S. Hula Hoop champ from Hawaii. All good.
Such a cool song. It never reached the popularity of their earlier 60s hits, but still great music. Stephen King did a short story based on the song, about a couple who get lost in Oregon, and drive into a small town where Elvis is sheriff, Ricky Nelson is a short-order cook at the diner, etc. One of my fav stories of his, and it of course goes hand in hand with this song.
Great song. Makes you appreciate all the past talent that shaped our lives. Ooooooo..., the fashion styles back then. Leaves NO doubt of the decade.Gotta love it. ;-)
Jim Croce has fun fictitious character songs and heartfelt meaningful songs you will love. Janis was a force and just poured it all out there. Hendrix was a trailblazer. Jim Morrison and the Doors' haunting sound still lingers. There's so much classic music that's been recorded for posterity. It's an almost endless journey.
The 70s were a completely different musical experience than the 1960s. By the late 60s the music scene began going more rock and pop and this was definitely pop music.
I will say it again their rendition of you’ll never walk alone on the Ed Sullivan is a must hear. One of the recordings on you tube actually shows a snippet of Ed Sullivan. I will bet most people today have never seen him. .
Great reaction and thanks for doing this song! In my opinion, this song is often overshadowed by many of their other (better known /more popular?) hits! It is deserving of it's own merits and attention. I am really enjoying your reaction journey through these great oldies. Excellent song selections!
Great song! And you should look up the other versions. They redid the song to add Elvis, Roy Orbison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lennon, etc. Also, it was released by a band called Climax before the Righteous Brothers did it. The song was co-written by Alan O'Day who had a hit of his own - "Undercover Angel." Great song too.
Love you guys reactions, well done..I grew up in the 50's and 60's and a big fan of the early Rock n Roll and Doowop. a few recomendation, The Skyliners "Since I Don't Have You", The Crests (one of the first Interracial groups) "Angels Listened In" and The Cadillacs "Gloria" I once read that Doowop music was the recorded style music. I don't know if thats true but theres is a ton of great Doowop out there
Great review. Thank you for doing this. They did a live version of this song on a Dick Clark special with updated artist, including John Lennon and Elvis Presley. You might want to check that out.
What a great song! Always enjoyed hearing this on the radio, and afterward it made me think of all the others who have joined the band in Rock and Roll Heaven. Yes, they do look so handsome in this video. Great reaction!
You two, both need to look! at this 11 year old singer on The Voice Kids, as she sings Jessie J.'s "Flashlight" in two languages at the same time(English and ASL)...
Love the Righteous Brothers, they have amazing voices. I have always enjoyed their music. This certainly shows that we will never forget these wonderful singers. Thanks for your reaction!
Can you imagine the “band” that heaven has now….Robin, Maurice, Andy, Freddy, Bill, Bobby, Jimi, Jim, Kenny, Naomi, Olivia, Loretta, Eddie,….the list goes on and on….can you imagine the music that is being made up there? That’s one hell of a band!!!!
Yall need to listen to one of their early hits. Bill wrote it. It's Little Latin Lupe Lu. Look for the Shindig! Performance. They dancing. There is a Rock and Rock heaven 92 version.
If you want some Jim Croce suggestions, beyond Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown that was mentioned in the song, try Lover's Cross, One Less Set of Footsteps, Which Way Are You Going?, Have to Say I Love You in a Song, or Time in a Bottle.
Please play You Will Never Walk Alone by the Bros. This is amazing. You ladies are great. The diversity of age makes it interesting. It also shows how age doesn't mean you Can' t enjoy the same music, if it is good
Climax band sang this song in 1973, but it did not even make the top 100. Then the Brothers sang it in 1974 and it was a hit. Reaching number 3 on the top 100.
A tribute to Stars that they are not really gone. Just playing somewhere else. A great tribute song. That nobody has reacted to that I hope you consider. Reunion, Life is a Rock, but the Raido Rolled Me.
If you want to do a song that will mess with your mind do a reaction video of I love rock and roll music by Peter, Paul and Mary. Far from their usual folk music.
My husband was sanctimonious prig. He hated this song for the line: If you believe in forever then life is just a one night stand. He zeroed in on one night stand instead of the whole concept of the song. Personally I love this song.
It's sad to say this but Bill Medley actually did a later version of this song which includes a picture and a mention of Bobby Hatfield shortly after Bobby Hatfield passed away. You'll have to search on RUclips to find that exact one if I knew the year I would tell you to look for it by year but I honestly don't know I just know it's a later one and Bobby Hatfield is definitely one of the photos and one of the musicians mentioned in that later version of this song.
Wholly total and absolute cow, girdles; you did another great reaction but I'm thinking you left something out. I'll mention that at the end. 'The Sons of Mrs. Righteous' is the only album I had of theirs and this one was on it. I don't mind this song but the really great one from it was a song called, 'Dream On'. I think you would like that one. It would be remiss of me not to mention that this song is permeated with the idea that many people have that everybody eventually ends up in Heaven. According to Jesus Himself, that is not true. There IS a way to know. How come girls always look at a guys' jaw and guys look at............?? Keep playing the good ones.
You are correct about Bill Medley. He had a wonderfully strong, masculine face and jawline. Quite a man!
Check out Bill medleys song SEE THAT GIRL you will enjoy that see if mom remembers that one lol. bless you ladies!!
Be assured a person's spirit never dies. I very, very, very strongly believe in forever.
One of the best songs ever written. Imagine all those amazing singers and musicians that aren't with us playing together in heaven.
Back in the Seventies it was my favorite.
And just imagine that the Rock 'N' Roll Heaven Choir now has Bobby included in it along with a bunch of others.
RIP BOBBY 🙏💔🥲✝️
I cry every time I hear this song because Bobby is up there too. The brothers said in an interview that this was not a typical Righteous Brothers song.
If there's a rock n roll heaven, Bobby Hatfield is surely there.
Wow haven't heard this one in quite awhile. I was 14 when this came out
I love Bobby,s voice when he comes in on this, I’m 72 and heard all these through the years, I played lead guitar so my ears were always tuned to the radio. Subscribed , love your reactions.❤😊

The 1970s mastered music, nothing today comes close, so sad, but we have the music and memories , Thank you
They went their separate ways for a few years. This was their first hit song when they got back together.
Luv u kids👌

It was on the juke box in my Grandmothers diner. I played it a lot.
Yeah, if there's a rock 'n roll heaven they do have a hell of va band. Bobby Hatfield is their lead singer. RIP Bobby
Watching their clothes and hairstyles change tells you something about the eras in which they perform.
Great song. Makes you appreciate all the past talent that shaped our lives. Ooooooo..., the fashion styles back then. Leaves NO doubt of the decade.Gotta love it. ;-)

God bless you Bobby, damn cocaine and booze !!
This was popular when I graduated from high school. I liked their other song that year, Dream On, really well, too.
Or try this one from the Voice Australia, Blind Audition: Maddison McNamara sings I Will Always Love You | The Voice Australia 2018....

What a nice tribute song! Can’t go wrong with the Righteous Brothers!
The cover they did of You'll never walk alone on the Ed Sullivan show is worth watching, it's beautiful !
Thanks for a great review!!!
A later updated version mentioned Elvis, John Lennon, and Keith Moon, who were still living when the original was recorded.
As someone else mentioned, their performance of you’ll never walk alone on the Ed Sullivan show is fantastic. It takes their vocals to another level.
I agree, it's an absolute masterpiece !
