I really hope Andrew Yang won't stop pursuing this issue. Someone really should lead and start the change so the talents will have the balls to speak up. We don't want retired wrestlers making a GoFundMe page when WWE should have taken care of retirement benefits and giving their royalty checks. If they're truly independent contractors, they should be treated as such and be allowed to use their free time on twitch, youtube, act or host. It's time for the wrestlers given what they deserve when they've sacrificed and risked their body. So many wrestlers died so young.

You do realize that AEW treats its wrestlers the same as WWE? AEW wrestlers are considered independent contractors (so they don't get the benefits that come with being an employee), AEW wrestlers don't get retirement benefits, AEW wrestlers don't get health insurance. If anything, WWE is better because they offer free rehab to anyone who ever worked for them.
@@TJSpyke no, they're not the same as AEW treat their "independent contractors" legitimately when the talents can do indie bookings, do twitch, cameo anything they want. AEW pays for all travel expenses book the flight, hotel and pick up their talents unlike in WWE where superstars need to spend for hotel and book their own car.
Some talents in AEW also have access to health insurance if they're hired to do an office/backstage work.
So no, they're not the same. WWE is claiming their superstars are independent contractors on paper only when they basically own their superstars who cannot even take sidelines like Twitch/cameo.

Well Vince has had a monopoly on wrestling in the US for almost 40 years. He's crushed any attempts for unionization and for wrestlers to have rights. Its no shock Vince would be shitting his pants if Andrew Yang can actually help give wrestlers some kinda power.

AEW can afford it, they just don't want to. The only reason his other athletes have insurance is because they have unions and force him to give them insurance

And presenting the same product that PWG and ROH produce with added indy horsehit redish is the way to do it? If it was the ROH would have already done it. TNA would have already done it. Its almost as if the millions and millions that used to watch dont want WWE, ROH, AEW or TNA and I don't fucken blame them. Mark shows produced for less than 1 million marks that watch wrestling no matter what it is or how good it is. Khan pissed away any chance he had to breaking the monopoly because he's a mark and only cares about fluffing the Young Bucks.
Bookmark this and come back in a year when AEW has been moved to a 2 am Sunday night slot and then cancelled with 6 months.

1985 was the start of being a wrestling fan. Hulk Hogan, Big John Studd, Rowdy, Rowdy Piper, Andre The Giants, etc....... Those were the stars of that day and that era.

it's not normal that many wrestlers die too young from mental illness, drug problems, medication problems, suicide, heart failure. And the worst are the stories of discarded wrestlers who developed health problems rendering them wheelchair bound that have been left completely forgotten by the WWE.

worst part of the travel arrangements is that everyone must do it. Even if they know there's no plans for them to be on the show that night. You have to make your way from town to town on your own dime knowing that there's the big tv show and 2 untelevised nights and unless your in the top 1\3rd of talent you'll only work one of those nights for 5 minutes.

Great interview. I love when people talk about debt because very few actually understand it. The dollar is a fiat currency based off reversed fractional banking aka debt. The dollar today is backed literally by debt not gold, silver etc... We owe more in debt than what is currently in circulation (which is by design and the point). NO they actually made a profit because they made $800,000 From your transaction. What gives the loan value is your promise to pay it back. Ever noticed that your NAME is always capitalized when related to banking or Government (IDs, SS card, Credit and Debt cards etc...) this is not by accident in law it is capitis deminutio maxima. Your NAME capitalized is not actually you but a legal fiction (strawman, artificial person, corporation name etc...) created by your parents signing your birth certificate (which is a certificate of manifest because you are property... cattle) so a contract you never signed controls your finances. Look into John Witterick he explains how to use this information to your benefit and scam the scammers... Think of your NAME as your token (like monopoly) to play the game.

That's crazy I didn't know that they have to pay for the hotel they have to pay for car rentals comes out of your pocket but they do get big contracts so they do get big money to compensate so that I guess that's the trade-off so the trade-off is they get big money but yes. The top tier guys make big bucks , but the majority of them only make $100, 000 / year. Still sounds like a decent amount, but not really once you take expenses in to account never mind the fact that it's a short career due to the abuse on their bodies.
@@brianbenoit6883 the wrestlers starting out in the company doesn't make $100,000 as that is mid tier talent level pay. The travel and hotel is deductible on taxes. A lot of the talent also have travel, car and hotel rewards cards with them.

Is AEW REALLY that different from WWE when they also classify their wrestlers as "Independent Contractors" and also don't have a union? Yeah they may pay some expenses for wrestlers but only do the top stars get to work for other companies and that's only sparingly

The problem with WWE is that it has lost it's passion. No competition, lame storylines, bland wrestlers, it resembles WCW in the late 90's.
If I was in WWE I'd just hitchhike everywhere and let the person who drove me be in my walk out and hit a pose if they wanted. I'd go with like a Huck Finn gimmick.

He's explained it numerous times on him helping the actual employees getting a structured health plan or at least able to work as an independent contractor with the benefits from doing so. Vince and WWE has already exposed themselves. Andrew is just bringing it to the much needed forefront. Only ones upset about this are the obsessed followers of WWE thinking they are being "attacked" which is hypocrisy at its finest.
@@Nick-7 fair enough however i want to know what he will do for all of pro wrestling don't get me wrong if he is successful and to me it's a big if but if he doest accomplish his goal then what next what about helping the smaller companies that havw suffered over the pandemic that need a leg up is he gonna help them or just leqve them because they aren't as recognisable as WWE or AEW has he got plans for a union and to help victims that came forward during the speaking out movement and to make sure it won't happen again or is he doing this because he could be pals with TK and the higher powers at AEW so they can stick it to Vince thats what i want to know is this a sincere thing or has he been given a heads up by others to do this

@@harrybanner170 All wrestling companies need to have these standards so the athletes can be not struggling with financial issues. It's an insurance policy that will provide stability for the talent and make sure that they are treated right and happy.

I don't believe AEW fairness until there's a union and other health/retirement plans to protect workers tbh.... Might be more caring and open but that only goes so far.
That is a good point. Although I don't think there are any employers who would willingly unionize, the best strategy for them is make it so their workers don't WANT to. Health insurance though, exactly right.
It’s a shame how the wrestlers in WWE are treated like such jokes on television, you got great talent but Vince and the writers put them in horrible dumb ass storylines , like that Retribution bullshit what is that shit ? WWE stopped being wrestling about 15 years ago or so , NXT is the only good thing they have going and even NXT hasn’t been that great this year .
