Not trying to be pedantic but just want to set the record straight. It was a German submarine, not a German ship, that's why it was able to torpedo the HMS Royal Oak and get away. And the Royal Oak was torpedoed while docked in Scapa Flow, not at the beach nearby.
Thank you for these Orkney videos! My partner and I are planning a trip to Scotland (in Sept/Oct - we're Aussies so definitely not up for an Arctic blast! lol) and seeing your experiences has given us so many ideas!
