I wood like to see you talk about Topaz, if you can. I love that gemstone, but know almost nothing about it. Also, I CAN'T BELIEVE MY EYES!!! PETRIFIED WOOD IS AWESOME!!!! Keep making these videos, and also invite guests too, I love this dope. Peace!!
Sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Blake Conner I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
MatPat advertised you yesterday when he did a theory on where is the Soul Stone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also, could you make a video about Raritanium from the Ratchet and Clank game series?
hey that would be cool, i've always wondered what that stuff could be. in some of the games it's a brilliant gold colour with a hint of pink (specifically Ratchet & Clank 2), in most of the others it's a metallic blue-purple... so wtf is it?
So Raritanium seems to be an element judging by the name. It was mainly used for two things. One thing is that Raritanium is used as a currency to upgrade weapons and ships. In Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, you use Raritanium to buy upgrades for your ship in Slim Cognito's Ship Shack. You can also use Raritanium to upgrade different aspects of your weapons in games like Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, Into The Nexus, PS4 reboot, and I think the first Ratchet and Clank game. For example rate of fire, ammo capacity, range, and so on. The other thing is that Raritanium is used in alloys for armor, ships, and much more. Raritanium may form as crystals instead of a metal, yet it is capable of being used in alloys. So I guess the Raritanium has to be pulverized into a fine grained powder in order for it to be mixed into other things. I'm sure Natalie will make a video about it one day. :)
NAK ooo you just reminded me, in the first Ratchet & Clank raritanium isn't used for anything (as far as the player is concerned) other than trading to get the Persuader - more importantly; it's a dark blue-purple pastel coloured, porous looking rock, definitely rock. So we have 3 variations, a straight rock (presumably unrefined), a brilliant gold-pinkish crystal and a dark purple-blue crystal. *[edit]* It's possible that it forms differently in each galaxy, in Solana it's a crude rock that requires refinement, in the Bogon galaxy it forms those perfect looking gold-pinkish crystals, and in Polaris it's predominantly found in dark purple-blue crystalline formations. (Above theory only works if you disregard the reboot, because it takes place in Solana but the raritanium looks like the Polaris variant).
My great-aunt gave me a piece of petrified wood when I was a child, and it launched me on a lifetime of collecting mineral specimens. That peanut wood is pretty neat, and something I haven't seen before. Suggestions: Trilobites, ammonites (or did you already do that one?), Pennsylvania coal fossil, and fluorescent minerals (such as Willemite). Sure, OK, you might as well throw in coprolites as well.
Found your channel 2 days ago and really love it . I collect rocks and gem stones and not always know much about them but love to learn . Thank You ! Coprolite would be wonderful to see .
My favorite combo of host and guest! I say bring on the copralite, do long as Elizabeth comes back with it... Love this channel, and especially this video mentioning my home state and an awesome state park I've actually been to...
My favorite thing about petrified wood is when different parts of the tree break apart at different rates and you get banding that follows the different densities in the original.
sillicates are fantastic.. from opals to brnzeite to agates it's the most complex and variable of minerals. also geologically quite young. super rare super funky. the universe is full of diamond and olivine.. full iof quartz. sillicates require living planets.
I have a piece of petrified wood at home that has, some of the detail but not to the extent that the one that still looks like the actual tree. It looks more like the bigger piece. Coprolite, please.
I've found a ton of petrified wood in the different channels of my creek beds & I really wish I knew someone like you guys who could look through them. Im talking hundreds of pieces from small to large. Its almost as if the creeks themselves produce an endless amount of it. They're absolutely beautiful & strange at the same time... bc a number of them look burnt? I mean.. actually burnt. I haven't done a single thing to any of them outside of dippin them into tap water to remove the dirt & when I hold some of the charred ones, the black soot does rub off but then on others it doesn't. I found a few gray pieces this last time I went through to look for more. Anyways, thanks for your video! It was helpful.
Funfact- "Bobby Socks" trees found in active thermal areas (such as yellowstone), are a great example of holocene lithification and ultimately silification/petrification as the tree takes on too much mineral-saturated water to support itself and dies, only to be buried and preserved further by the same silica rich ground water. Also the tree casts were probably formed when lava or pyroclasts buried and completely carbonised the organic material, leaving an empty void to be filled by minerals :)
hard woods especially are great at bringing up minerals into their composition, when they later petrify and fill with sillicates their must be some amazing magic happen..
The gemology world sucks! They don't know anything. It's the secret society of gems and they will not help you in the slightest. This business needs to be rearranged!
I have a good sized piece and it’s the brightest most vibrant red and I just love it!! I never quite knew how it was formed until now which makes my little piece so much more interesting to me!!
Coprolite is mother nature's way of telling you that it is indeed possible to polish a turd! I'll be here all night; try the fish, and tip your waitstaff.
I use to got collect petrified wood as a kid with my dad. It made up a huge part of my childhood and a huge part of my rock collection like a pile as tall as me.
Wood when immersed in Water, will expand, thus allowing for mineralization to take place. The sudden change of; (say an inland sea); submerging a Forest, is what then allows the petrification to slowly happen over 100,000's of years. My question would be, can you carbon date Petrified Wood; & how many extinct trees are known to be found that are Petrified? Thank!🤌🫶👏🙌👏
i love you guys . nat and elizabeth have given me the confidence to spend more on my mineral and gem collection but also to get out and go specking myself.. however i do it in charity shops and flea markets.
Coprolite plz
