    kind of unrelated but, there is this mineral called bournonite which grows in some very wacky cog-wheel shapes. though that's not really one crystal. it's multiple "fused" into one. they're twinned. another example of twinning in minerals is staurolite which you've talked about before,
    and of course there's ice, which takes symmetry to a whole 'nother level. truly magnificent.
    loved the new video, as always! lots of love. ❤❤

    I’ve always loved the synthetic Bismuth , for me it’s one of the only synthetics I actually like because of how complex and different each specimen is , super cheap & easy too make at home and they give some excellent results too those with patience.

    Can someone explain why these crystals grow? Since they are inorganic what is the mechanism for it? How does it "know" which way to grow?

  • @bluewhalestudioblenderanim1132
    @bluewhalestudioblenderanim1132 2 года назад

    it's not exactly "crystal grows towards it's minerial"
    but more like "crystallization moving trough a pocket of that type of mineral that specific way"

    The light smoky elestial skeletal didn’t originate from Germany. It was first found and named in Africa and it’s a VENSTER not Fenster.
    I was corrected a while back by a very famous rock hound supplier from Africa

    Water actually is a mineral, but it's not a crystal. Ice is a crystal because it meets the requirements of mineral crystals.
