The big downside for me is that you have to use their app(s). I record video using the Blackmagic Cam App on my iPhone 15 Pro and this presents a big issue. I need a wireless mic that sounds good and can be recorded directly not using another app. For me, these are not good for my requirements. I have both the Hollyland Lark M2 and Lark Max which each fill different niches in my video work and their combined cost is less than the Shure MoveMic kit. I could see someone who does Podcasts may find this new Shure offering convenient.
Yeah I would agree that this is meant for a certain userbase for sure. I will say, though, that I have been playing with the software and it is quite nice. allows you to shoot up to 4K/30 which, yes, is a loss on a phone that can shoot 8K, but I don't feel super confined by it.
What are your first impressions of the Shure MoveMic? Is it missing anything that you wish it had?
