      I hope that you and your family are safe. It's unfortunate that in September 2023, Zelensky applauded the presence of a former SS member, Hunka, from the infamous SS Galizien, who participated in the Genocide of Wołyń and the suppression of the Warsaw Uprising. In Poland, we don't understand why your heroes are those cowards without honor from the UPA, who committed horrific crimes against entire Polish families, such as during Bloody Sunday, where in the single day 40 k Poles where killed in 98 Polish villages. Why do you have such heroes, instead of those Ukrainians, who risked, and often sacrificed, their lives to save Polish neighbors from the UPA, often being killed by it? Why are the red and black flags of the Banderist Nazis so visible everywhere in Ukraine?
      Why are the exhumations of Polish families, whose remains lie scattered across today's Ukraine, often left after torture, not allowed? And I truly don't understand why you accuse Poles of similar crimes. You know that’s not true; Poles didn’t have their own Nazis, and there was no Polish SS division. We didn't have anyone like the infamous stepan bandera. You are doing the same thing that the Russians are doing now-claiming parts of Ukraine as Russia and committing crimes against your nation while accusing you of the same. Yet today, you are as innocent as the Poles were during WWII in relation to you.
      That is why support for Ukraine from Poland has weakened (though it’s worth mentioning that Poland has provided $25 billion to Ukraine in various forms of aid). Check the Polish internet. I, too, offered accommodation to a Ukrainian mother with a child-wonderful people, by the way. This is how we think (of course, I don't speak for all Poles, but for those I know): if Ukraine takes pride not in bandera but in how it rejects its Nazi past, under the slogan "never again," it should be our strong ally in NATO and the EU. But if you cannot renounce bandera, the UPA, or the SS Galizien, then let Ukraine remain and defend itself from Russia, but as a weak buffer state with a small population and no chance for NATO or the EU, because we will not allow it.
      Would you forgive Stalinists for the Holodomor or future Putinists for Bucha? Maybe to Russians, but not to Stalinists or Putinists. Similarly, we will forgive Ukrainians if asked, but we will never forgive neo-Banderists and will always oppose them. Just like Jews and we, Poles, will never forgive German Nazis, and African Americans will never tolerate the cult of the KKK.
      I write not to condemn, but to clarify. For example, Zelensky told Polish media that he appreciates Poland’s help. And that was news only in Poland, because he said it to just Polish press. But when the whole world was watching, at the UN, he called us puppets in Putin's theater. How do you think we took that?

  • @Rubinrus
    @Rubinrus 2 месяца назад +4

    First, it isn't about "can" or "cannot" live depending on foreign support - about 60% of Ukraine government apparatus is funded through foreign support. Meaning if the money flow stops, it would become completely authoritarian, communist or dysfunctional in about a year.
    Second, Ukraine isn't "conservative" in the sense that was said. USSR was among the first countries to promote gender equality. While both Russia and Ukraine have some gender stereotypes, they're nowhere near conservative American families - I'd even question if the amount of men holding bachelors degree is higher than the amount of women. It is just that some jobs are looked down upon, and that includes factories.
    Third, most factories have tight connection to the government and you simply don't trust it. Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan - doesn't matter. They say one thing, but will always find a loophole or simply ignore what they've just said. If a commissar is said to bring 1000 recruits - he will bring them, one way or another, hence you see all those videos with army grabbing people off the streets. And if he still cannot meet the quota? - guess where he goes to grab the rest.
    Fourth, a 500 dollars per month per a mouth? In Ukraine? Like, really? People are paying amounts twice or three times larger sum BUT they're exempt from the mobilization permanently. What does it even achieve? Slave contracts? More corruption? Civil unrest because the average salary is 350$ per month and the government blatantly asks you to pay for you to avoid a significant chance to be blown up at the front? The best outcome is literally opening up more opportunities for the officials to cheat the system and lower the bribe Ukrainians need to pay in order to not be sent to the front. The only way how you can make it work is to allow young men (or their families) to leave the country for EU so they can earn enough to both pay the price and to not die from starvation on the streets. But how exactly are you going to guarantee that they'll pay? EU doesn't have a reason to send them back and Ukraine doesn't have any tools to call them back. And if those come to some form of an agreement you just grab all your money and go to Montenegro, Serbia, Thailand or w/e.
    Either way predicting anything with Ukraine is a fool's errand. It is a first-ever time when a country, in the current global economy, fights in a war it literally cannot sustain. Cut the support and in a few months half of the army will be equipped with helmets and shovels, while the government won't be able to sustain its own workers, not to mention soldiers. In a sense, it is one of the most significant experiments of 21st century - it was made so Ukraine only needs to worry about manpower while everything else is being provided, while Russia, a superior adversary, has to worry about everything plus quite a bit of extra because of sanctions. If successful and Russia overheats first, then it'll prove that money is the king that can beat even nukes. And if Ukraine overheats first, then people would question the purposes of EU, NATO and waste of money by their governments. And there's also an option that it would simply go on for far too long to pay off.

    Since when is a war economy sustainable? It only is sustainable as long as there are neighbors to loot for ressources. War equipment doesn't generate wealth on it's own except selling to others. And we are talking about Ukraine vs. Russia here. Outproducing Russia while itself is on war economy is impossible without help.

    The long-term problem for Ukraine is that they are becoming more and more reliant upon other countries to support them, added to which the most productive lands are the ones being fought over in the south and east of the country. Even if an end is brought to the war and Russia withdraw the land will be next to useless for years and will likely become little more than a demilitarised zone therefore reducing the future productivity and adding to their dependence on the West !!

A system where Norwegian employers pay 3150 Euro back to Ukraine's military and the refugees pay 100 Euro to the state, which in return pays the rent for these refugees, will remove the economic motive for staying in Norway. (or other EU countries) It will help finance the war without changing the competitive conditions in the international market, and it will move the potential for crime and corruption into countries that have better systems for detecting and dealing with such things without negatively affecting developments in Ukraine.
