Beautiful! My father bought the only Figaro sold new in Portugal back in 93 and we still own it today. It is a garage queen, having traveled only 7 thousand kms from new (around 4 thousand miles), making it a perfect time capsule. It is such a joy to drive, a true event every time one gets behind the wheel! I'm thrilled somebody has finally given the Figaro a thorough review, having approached it just in the right way. Great job, Tedward!
I bought one for My girlfriend a year ago, it was sold on e-bay some 300 miles from me.The deal done, I arranged to have the car driven to Teddington ( she was flying home from looking after her mother in Portugal) She loved that car and recently took it to Nissan Figaro specialists to have a cosmetic and mechanical evaluation, the news wasn't good as the entire sub frame was severely rotted and would not pass it's annual MOT without significant cash injection. Needless to say she is devastated, so if ever your father wants to sell it send me a message, we intend to live somewhere in or around Torres Vedras near Lisbon her name is Maria Luisa Almeida Pereira, ps, normally before I buy any car I get the RAC to do a pre purchase inspection and unfortunately, I didn't have time on this occasion to put that in place, a lesson learned
Amazing. I never thought they sold here. Never seen one in the wild as well. And in the classified ads the ones i see are clearly imported. Such a fun car though.
@@MrCarGuy I can't imagine owning and a car and not driving it. 7k kms is nothing, wow. Even my older cars I've driven because that's what I like about them, driving them, not watching them sit. Different strokes...
You made my day when you said the cars personality. I have always said that the cars from the earlier days showed the true feeling of their designers if you look closely at cars and trucks from the 50s 60s and 70s some even seem to have smiles or expressions. And this little car certainly seems to have a smile.🚘
A car that reminds you to enjoy the drive and take in the scenery. But what's better is that this car is lovely inside too. AND it was back when Nissan made reliable cars.
Absolutely LOVE the retro style and details of this car. WHY oh why can Nissan not re-imagine this car onto Sentra or Ultima platform? Picture this against a Miata, Subaru BRZ, or Toyota GR86, think $25k-$35k, keeping all the cute style points.
The perfect weekend car. Quirky, small, convertible, but oh so fun. I love this thing, and I would totally buy it. A summer drive to the countryside in this convertible,The Marriage of Figaro blasting in the background, perfection! It is also great because it can somewhat get up to highway speeds, and it is not totally stuck in the dinosaur age like classic vintage cars are. It is a simple, honest, but brilliant looking ride
It's sad I can't get my hands on one in Russia. Not only because it's rare, but also because of a rather bumpy roads in many places of the country. Thanks for the review! It made me so happy!
Same, our roads in Saint Lucia have a few unavoidable potholes, thin speedbumbs and bumpy roads. I want it but I'm not sure how much it can take on a road with such conditions. ^^''
I’ve always loved the Fugaro, I wish I had one to drive around ( like you did in the video) and put it in classic car shows. Those Nash Metropolitans were cool too, I’d love to have one of those also.
Great video! I love the fact that you get the feeling of a 1960s car in a semi-modern package. I’m in the same boat. I want a RHD Import in my garage. I have the Nissan Pao on my list because I love the hatchback and it comes in a 5 speed
咦?車主是在美國開車嗎?在美國,汽車的方向盤應該在汽車的左邊吧!這輛車方向盤在右邊,美國汽車監理機關會核發牌照嗎? Huh? Does the owner drive in the US? In the United States, the steering wheel of a car should be on the left side of the car! The steering wheel of this car is on the right, will the US motor vehicle supervision agency issue a license plate?
Not gonna lie, as much as I love this car, it’s definitely not something I would drive in the motorway (or if I did, over take anyone)...they’d be so peeved at being passed by such a small ‘Noddy-esqu’ car they’d want to regain their man/woman-hood......and that’s before we get to passing /getting passed by trucks etc....it’s definitely more of a city car, that said driving a car like this makes one realise it really is about the journey as much as the destination.
"... how much you rely on markings as a driver"... About 10 percent of the road network in my country has those white line alongside the edge. If not less than that :(
I want a fun to drive rhd jdm car, and I was really down to the beat or the cappo (my friend has a cappo) . But maybe I should add the figaro to the list
Its funny the car must be terrifying to drive on the highway. It is low to the ground, and unlike a Porsche trucks go zipping by you. Also I found a car more attention getting than my mk 3.5 VW Cabrio. Girls especially like my VW, and Im sure they would be all over that figaro. Lol but no manual and the 2.0 4cyl n/a makes twice the power. However heavier car, but I can get mine up to 80 at least. If I keep my VW I think I may do a VR6 swap. IDK why VW did not make a gti version of the cabrio. It would be like a poor mans front wheel drive 996 or something like that. Somewhat fast, but fits within the parameters of a front wheel drive gulf platform.
For cars with digital displays 50 frames seemed to reduce the flickering compared to 60 frames. Flicker is more a function of shutter speed than fps but locking shutter on a GoPro is asking for trouble in variable light
I own one of these and I’m 5ft 10, I fit, if I sit more upright my head sometimes touches the roof pillar. It’s not a perfect fit for a taller person but I’d rather have vertebrae removed than sell it

reminds me a lot of the Fiat 500 Cabriolet. got to drive that one through small towns around Madrid.

The cool thing is that this isn't even a 50s or 60s car, in fact, it was designed in the early 90s!
I am trying so hard... but I can't help but secretly like this car!
This car aged well, when I see it on the street here in Europe I keep thinking its a new car
Hahaha i liked the "if u do the math & slaped a bunch of keys= 75 hp per liter" 😂😂🤙. Ove never heard of this car. Thnx for showing us this beauty
I’ve lost count on the amount of times I’ve watched this video and the 67 fiat 500 vid I love these low horsepower town cars 😂😊
ya know, I’ve never really got to appreciate these little Figaro’s but i lowkey want one now
I want one of these so badly everything is perfect style wise

10:24 The truck drivers are a little crazy there, you go to almost (tachometer speed) 120 km/h and they overtake you !!
Duncan Imports may have more of these for sale than anyone in the US. They are currently listing 140 of them, in all price ranges.
The figaro makes sense now! I didn't realize they were a convertible!
5:55 Would love to drive through a crowd of people :O
he thought he was driving mustang
He would end up injured. Not those people. :D

Driving this car is just massive overdrip!
Love it
watching you drive give me so much joy
The more videos I see of these cars the more I want one ! Thanks
It really deserves a manual transmission. Fun shifting through the gears and better highway cruising.
I had the 1 litre Nissan Micra this is based on ( also a Mitsubishi Evo 4 320 Bhp at the same time 😂) loved it This is cute and very smooth
Their based on the Micra from the 2000s, so is front wheel drive, and is super lightweight so is actually really fun. What an icon, too.
Wasn't it based on the 1st gen Micra? It was made in 1991, so...

just watching this made me smile the entire time! Tedward, what modern vehicles do you think bring similar joy?
I’m glad! I’ll have to think on that. I really can’t call out a modern car that makes me feel this happy and silly.
Maybe a Vw beetle? beetles and figaros are my dream cars
The Dahiatsu Copen! It's also very similar to this but more modern and with much less chrome and has a manual transmission
Looks quite nice and new even today!

No doubt Nissan would have a WINNER copying this for U.S. with regular left side drive, updated stuff-not TOO much.
