It is great to see this in-progress restoration video posted. I am the same “Tim” who has owned this Omni2 for all this time. Got it about a year old as a rental from my local music store in Northern NJ, fell in love with The Cars tones and it’s been with me through kids getting raised and learning to play keyboards on it, chocolate milk and beer spills and more good times that I can post. Wanted to give a shout out to Nathan at Synth Chaser, for bringing this one back from the dead. From day one he explained the repair options, pics were sent along the way, and now that it has the LED mod and Filter mod, I cannot recall when this one sounded better. I do have a Roland Juno DS that can get “close” on the sound, but there is really no true substitute for a vintage ARP Omni2. Something about the tone particularly the strings that were so era specific. Heavy steel case on these, the repair work is impeccable, I have every confidence this Omni2 is gigworthy again. I could not commend Synth Chaser any higher for his thorough approach, work with you attitude and absolutely top quality, hand crafted work. Highly recommended if you have a special vintage ARP like this and need to have it restored the right way.
Thank you so much Tim! It was very satisfying to restore this synth for you knowing how much nostalgia you had associated with it. I hope you continue to enjoy it for many years to come!
WOW! You found one o' them Magic Smoke™ ICs! KEWEL, dude! That's like an Easter Egg in real life. Sometimes we're just lucky, and the parts show us what's ailing... ;-)
Outstanding, you really know what your doing.

Great work! What's your preferred technique for cleaning up corrosion on PCBs?
Thanks! I scrub with vinegar and a toothbrush, then rinse and dry with compressed air or denatured alcohol.
This exact omni 2 is for sale right now on ebay
