I wish all animals got help like this! :(
Turn that frown upside down. :)
Everyone would have to stop eating meat and dairy products for that to happen :(
@@anna040598 what does eating meat and dairy have to do with helping sick animals?
@@anna040598 You do realize that farm animals won't exist at all if we stop using them as a food source?
What you suggesting will guarantee their extinction. Or you think that cute small pinky pigs, adorable cows, and happy sheeps will jump freely and happily in the wilderness?
Well it's complicated and would take all the screen space to even explain the fundimentals but suffice it to say yes eating less of diary and animal products would help and improve all wildlife, in including this fox. It also greatly improved your health as well.

@@laurag1406 - too many humans should never be allowed to procreate. Including my own mother. I’m a damaged human.
I have mixed feelings about humans encouraging wild animals to trust humans. It could, and has had in the past, some disastrous consequences. Help them, by all means, but try not to "tame" them in any way.

I know right bless that poor animal 💖🐕
it looked like the piece of bread i found in the back of the fridge the other day!
You can tell from early on, when she had her eyes open, she was ready to begin healing and was excited to be taken care of. I’m so glad she was saved.
What makes me so sad is that there are so many other animals with mange out there who dont get found. So it makes my heart sing to see one get saved.
My family took in a mangey pitbull puppy who was rescued by someone we knew. They'd seen someone throw the puppy, tied in a plastic bag, in to the dumpster. It was a small town out in the country and the person probably didn't call the police. But they knew we often would take care of strays for a bit and brought the puppy to us.
We already owned another pitbull/chocolate lab mix named Scooby and so we named the tanned puppy Scrappy. We tried to keep them apart so Scrappy wouldn't infect Scooby but Scooby just wasn't having it and would cry for hours to get to his friend. When we finally allowed them to meet up, you would've thought they really were family as Scooby loved having a puppy to play with (he was less than a year old himself, so also still a puppy). I felt bad for him when we had to give Scrappy away but happier still that we'd saved his life.
If it makes you feel better, most foxes are able to recover from mange on their own. As long as they're able to get a little bit of food and water, they'll likely survive on their own.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley thank you for your service.
@Kathia Amaro Yeah, we were shocked. Clearly, the last person wasn't even going to try taking him to the vet. We didn't have a lot of money and technically, we weren't supposed to have any pets (we hid Scooby during apartment inspections). But we still took Scrappy to the vet and it wasn't so bad. I was at a cheap summer camp my junior high participated in at the time so I came home to be pleasantly surprised by the arrival of Scrappy. I could see where his fur had come out at and was scabby but he was full of life and love. We got some type of "dip" for him for his skin and fur to clear up the manage and he took a liquid medicine that smelled like candy and might have tasted like it the way he always eagerly ran to the syringe we used to measure out his doses. It didn't break the bank, likely cost less than $100 (which still was a lot for my family, back then, but the alternative of saying no to that puppy just wasn't in our hearts. I was the main animal lover in the family but my mom has a soft-spot for them too, so even with me not present, she still wanted to help the little guy).
Lots of people want nothing to do with animals if they're sick and especially in locations out in the country (by "country", I'm not just talking about the region, but also low education/low job opportunities, so a lot of poverty. Caring for animals properly wasn't common, most dogs were outside animals only and fed on scraps. This, by the way, would be how we came to own another puppy who was the runt of her litter and close to death, but that would be years later).
My family were the odd, "bleeding hearts" of the neighborhood, that's why people brought a few pets to us or we'd take in strays, get them healthy again, and then try to find new homes for them. It wasn't much and we were very far from perfect...such as how we tragically lost Scooby six hours before his first birthday. But we tried. I hope Scrappy lived a long and healthy life after that.
@Kathia Amaro I don't know, but my experience is that "most" people are inherently good. Some are taught by others to be bad or indifferent. The rest can just be evil. It's a mixed bag. Please be a good person. Others will learn from you. Peace and Love. :)
2:56 the way she turns around for 1 last goodbye is so sweet :)

I know im 3 years late but i belive that it was not only a goodbye, it was also a thank you
These people are special hero's, to respect nature like that is a great gift.
Foxes are smart. Even if she couldn’t completely understand the situation, she seemed to know she was being helped.
Yes, we are and thank you for your kind words
Lol they are smart, they wait for pregnant animals to start giving birth and then eat the newborn as it's coming out, that is smart. That's what foxes do, seen it happen when I was checking the calving cows
@@Elabastayoul And the even smarter humans have enslaved the cows already and feel like they own them so take issue when another animal tries to 'profit' from their bodies. Cattle in the wild wouldn't be predated by foxes - they're too small a predator. Captivity makes the cows more vulnerable.
@@rutheames979 cry harder!
Scott Agnew yeah it’s pretty weird to apply human morality to foxes...
I am shocked that she's had gotten so ill when her look is so young. Thank you guys for helping the fox.
Wild Foxes actually don't live that long anyway because they're more likely to catch mange and diseases thanks to a lot of what they do and eat.
@@silentgamer4368 hmm, I did not know this. Thanks for the info.
Yup, especially because of stray dogs. There are a lot of diseases that are not natural for them and started affecting foxes and other wildlife because of abandoned dogs getting in national parks, forests and other natural reserves. That's why you can't go to national parks with pets, they can introduce diseases to the ecosystem and severely affect the wildlife.
The change was amazing! She looked like death warmed over and now she’s a BEAUTY!!
I'm delighted that she wasn't made into a pet. Wild and free is better than toy for me.
If she was somehow limping or blind or any other reason they'd probably transfer her to a sanctuary and if that didn't work out too well they would be looking for wildlife fosters.
@@WhiteWolfos Your definitely right❤️
But if she was too tame to be released? What then?
@@greenapple9477 If, big if...if she had returned to her carry cage for security when released, I would agree but fortunately, in this case at least, they didn't try to domesticate her and she ran free.

These videos remind me that people can be good and helpful and there is a reason to keep believing we can do better.
Below I replied to “WupperElfe” when she asked "
The mange is caused by a parasitic mite and lots of animals get it in the wild. They also get lots of other diseases that infect domesticated animals. Every creature deserves to be loved or cared like this.

What a sweetheart she is! I, with the help of a wonderful man from our local wildlife rescue, named Buck, trapped two mangy fox pups sheltering at one of our local high schools. He brought them to Blue Ridge Wildlife Rescue Center where they made a full recovery and were released. What’s funny is a few years later someone found a phone I had where I had a card of his in the back. That person called Buck who tracked me down to return it. Sadly, I read Buck passed away a few years ago, but I also heard there’s an award given every year by the local police / animal control, called the Buck Taylor Award.
Thank you, Buck. There are a few people who make the world a better place just by virtue of having been a part of it. And you are one of those special people. Edit: For those interested in being inspired by a wonderful human - see below
"When Buck sold his last business, Paddock Dry Cleaners in ---, Va. he found his one true passion in life, the rescue and care of orphaned or injured wildlife, first volunteering as a transporter with The Wildlife Rescue League of Virginia. Soon he became deeply involved with all aspects of wildlife rescue that included, in addition to transporter, the capture, relocation and rehabilitation of animals in need. To honor his contribution to this effort, in February 2018, the Fairfax County Animal Services Division awarded Buck the “Volunteer of the Year” award which was renamed “The Buck Taylor Award”. Beginning in 2019, “The Buck Taylor Award” will be presented each year in his name to one deserving recipient who displays the same compassion and commitment to helping the wildlife in our region. ".
If she was such a sweetheart, she wouldn't have run off into the forest, she would have hung around the humans that helped her and not wanted to leave them.

@@KOT-br3tk haters like you have a place in hell all ready and waiting. Remember this warning when you're there.
Animals are probably like, "why do hoomans have such high pitched voices?"
Nope, they don't. Foxes and cats are tuned into hearing high pitched noises from their prey. So, when you talk in a high pitched tone to your cats, say, they can hear you better and react better. Same with foxes. 😊
@@carolstrachan4197 That was very informative! Thank you.
You should see "Save a Fox". I watch it all the time. A young lady that saves foxes and some other animals.
@@carolstrachan4197 Foxes have such good hearing that they can locate prey under the snow. Cats also hear well, much much better than we humans. We do not need to increase either key or volume. The squeaky voice we unconsciously produce when we care for animals, we also use for our toddlers.
@@hepaticanobilis9700 Nope again! The info in my comment came from research done a few years ago by cat experts. They definitely hear higher pitches better in all the tests. I've had cats all my life. I don't talk to them like I did to my children. Oh, and argument for arguments sake is petty. 😁

@Brandon Wiley Humans aren't emotionless animals. Death and suffering moves us and we often attempt to prevent or delay both from occurring. Would you apply the same logic to humans?
All they did was help the animal recover into a healthy state. I don't think they interfered with its lifetime otherwise as in, prolonged it unnecessarily when it was nearing inevitable death in a matter of hours or days. I think they did the right thing by giving the fox another shot at life. It can still be hunted and hunt with other animals. All that was done was the inevitable delayed.
