Just proves again that the measure of a man isn’t in his education…it’s in his humanity. Thanks for the great videos! They are the highlight of my day whenever you post them.
I saw a Richard Gere quote recently that goes “the facts are fluid, but the emotion is true” I’d say that’s applicable too in the way the Band of Brothers series portrayed “Doc” Roe
I concur with the many, many people who would have preferred the truth. Fictional heroes are not need. What is important is the truth. The acts these medics did to save lives would have been far more interesting than anything Ambrose could have dreamed up. Think of how interesting it would have been to have spoken to Doc Roe or to have read his diary. RIP Doc Roe and all your brother and sister medics, who tried to save a life at the risk of your own.
Stories about this generation never cease to amaze me. Thank you Mate. To be honest the Cajun issue is an honest mistake as unless you’re from South Louisiana it’s hard to articulate Cajun/Creole issue. Outside Louisiana everyone is a Cajun-😂. As always I totally enjoy your work.
He was a SHARP THINKER Because he started learning about life at a young man !!!!!! Think about all of the B of B men who started growing up early ???????? MADE THEM GOOD SOLDIERS, willing to go the extra mile ….. more great history !!!!!!! CHRIS 🇺🇸
Actually one of the inaccuracies I support considering Doc never got his due credit. The actor crushed that role. I remember him asking Joe Toye about his foot and just looking out going from hole to hole. You said it perfectly it captures his persona and caring nature and I don’t really care if he wasn’t Cajun technically
Not accurate, but Doc Roe's name famous from BOB... I guess he would be happy, the 'sense' of his life's work in WWII being portrayed. BOB was a semi real/fictional series and elevated and recalled the PIR ? Like many I loved the series and like your corrections although harsh but true at times. I thank you for your work on History.
After seeing all your videos on the B O B and what was and what is, Ambrose really twisted the truth….he was a good author but seeing and hearing all the truth I ask myself first why…and secondly why would you do this to these true heroes of WW2. I am in my late 60’s I have worked and lived and drank with many, many WW2 veterans. And know this…yes their stories will never ever be told. It was a horrific time for some of them and they all in one way or another stepped up to the plate,so to speak but to twist it onto a Hollywood plot is truly wrong. Some of those I knew had extremely horrible experiences. Horrible things to witness for anyone would make you sick. But I guess it war
It’s a real disappointment to know all the inaccuracies now. So many were correctable, but they decided to stick with their version and not be told how to make this series. I still love the series, but I’m very disappointed in the production crew.
@@petercurran3723 I agree with everything you said. I'm 63,and have known many of these men myself. Matter of fact, when I was younger, one of my old bosses was at Anzio, he used to tell me many times that The Joe's who fought in North Africa, or Sically/Italy are not given thier due for what they did. He said what happened in the ETO, overshadowed them all. Rest in Peace, Joe, you were a great guy. 🇺🇲
The truth about this man, should have been shown in the series.

Beautifully said
I appreciate that.
Great documentary!
Cheers
You have done great justice to his deeds, and to his memory.
Well said, indeed.
Thanks Colin

Thanks mate and yes, as I said to you before, its way over my head.
Is there much info on his fellow Medic Ralph F. Spina? He only showed up in Bastogne, but I think he was one of the veterans shown in the interviews.
Yes I will be doing a bio on Ralph Spina in the near future. There is a lot more information on him than Eugene Roe.
He was a SHARP THINKER
