I like how u summarised each phone with a specific superior functional point, for examples, "Best Voice/Call Functionality, Best Powerhouse, Best Multimedia Quality & Best Value", and tink u should keep that as a constant summary in ur "Dogfights". Either way was a quality FOUR phone review, so thanks.
Got my Evo a week after it came out and I have not been disappointed yet.
cool vid Noah ..... it's hard to pick one in a bunch of great phones. I have to give Evo the edge based on size and raw power but the Epic got my eye too. Time for a 4g dogfight Evo vs Epic.
oh on a side note turn off the screen shut off during videos.
um, thankyou so much for posting this video! I'm with Verizon. My contract is up this month and I was considering switching to at&t for the iPhone but was trying to stick with Verizon by going with one of the Droids, so this video is really helpful! :)
i only watch it when Noah does the video reviews..=) good stuff
Great info. If he did not say he was a iphone 4 owner I would not know. I appreciate that. This makes me want the epic 4G even more
Can't wait to get my Evo! I've been waiting patiently a good month now, and i still have to wait until April 1st :(
Nice video... I had the Incredible and I switched to my Droid X that I'm using now... Honestly I'm an HTC guy but this Droid X is making me wanna name it the best phone I've owned..Even though the screen size is huge, it rarely feels that big it's something that you get used to... I think overall, and I've played with all four devices and I like the X the most...
Got SE X10, and I love it! Good screen, good battery time, good enough calling and no gimmicky videocalling.
you should make a internet speed test among these phones over the cellular network and wifi
Do a dogfight between:Maemo 5,Android,iOS4 and any other os available..pleaseee and besides it would be really cool!!
Wouldn't you say the carrier plays a part in this? reliability, service, coverage, etc.?
Also where is this guy getting his info? it's already been comfirmed that 2.2 froyo is coming to sgs at the end of september.
I like Noah the most out of everyone Noah could you do a Iphone 4 dogfight with Thunderbolt and Drod incred 2 or could you just tell me which is better because im getting my new phone in 2 weeks and idk which one to get
I own the iPhone 4 (from day one of launch). Very satisfied.
Owned the original iPhone. I skipped the 3G and 3GS because those upgrades didnt have the features I wanted. With the new 5 megapixel camera and led flash I was sold. Great picture quality and truly amazing video.
I was annoyed with the antenna problem but always used a case so it wasnt an issue. However, apple's hubris pissed me off and I considered returning it. If I were to buy a new phone today, I would get the Droid X.
Used to be a BlackBerry fanatic. They are so lagging behind in today's technology.
Went with the Evo 4G and will never turn back.
I am a T-Mobile user. And the Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant) is an ABS. AMAZING. I LOVE the interactive wallpapers. They're so fun haha. You could literally sit there ALL day and play with it hahaha :)
Make a review of the Galaxy S, more in depth review.
@Croozer why is it because that boring grid layout is so fresh and captivating?
i dont get it. if a power user will be happy with the EVO 4G. Wouldnt that make it the winner?
can u do a dogfight between the captivate and the vibrant
dude when are we going to see the T-mobile G2?
I've had the Galaxy S for about 2 weeks and my only gripe with it is Touchwiz. I really like HTC Sense but no phones in Canada that are overly powerful had Sense. I'm still really happy with it though =)
Love my Evo! Preordered the Epic and am looking forward to it but I can't see it taking the place of the Evo as my main device. I used to carry a phone, an 64gb iPod Touch and a GPS. The amazing screen on the Evo has allowed me to do away with the GPS but due to the limitations of memory cards I still carry my iPod Touch for music & audiobooks. IMO, if a 64gb memory card were available for the Evo it would be the perfect device and that is all I would have to carry!
I have the droid X. Got it on launch date (so just over a month now). I love it so far. Some screens take a bit to load, but that is the only complaint I have. Verizon signal is great almost where ever I go, and when it isn't I have the Wifi to help me out. It's by far my favorite phone that I've messed with, and it seems like I find new and cool things on it everyday.
The EVO has been great, no problems with it since I got it in November.
Damn that vibrant has a live wallpaper and it's still kicking ass lol
@ 4:30 you say captivate, did you mean vibrant? an old OS system on a new phone is definately a deal breaker.
hey Noah i have a sprint htc hero for and my service sucks around my area would getting a evo 4g make a difference or should i just just got to verizon and ger a droid x
@iGatorNation yes. I'm running a stock 2.2 ROM and it really brings out the potential of the phone. It's like lightning.
Samsung Vibrant or Samsung Captivate, which one is better?????
i purchased the EVO 4G about 2 wks ago, and its a wonderful phone however, for me, in my opinion, its not what its all cracked up 2 be. I am not the hardcore geeky phone guy type of person, but i do love the fact that u can pretty much customize the EVO any way u want. Coming from a blackberry(which i used for 3 yrs)its quite a jump going from a smartphone to an android phone. In some ways, i think of the process of going from a blackberry user to an android user is like going from a pc 2 a mac.
i've had the evo 4g for awhile now. it's a powerhouse of a phone. only problem was that the build quality was kinda cheap. i put phones in my pocket wherever i go, and i don't know if my pockets have more dust than others, but 3 weeks later i had dust under the screen.
I love my HTC Evo 4g i have had it for about a month now only thing i hate about it is the life time of the phone i really think they need to come up with a update for that so it can be used longer
good job noah! i love my vibrant just wish it had a ffc and flash. but we need some one to do a dog fight showing off the cpu and gpu of each android phone. i wonder who would come out on top... my vote droidx and vibrant for the cpu.. and da vibrant blows every android phone out the waters with their gpu!
I wish Noah would have said what phone he would choose if he could only pick one. I own the htc evo and have been really happy with the phone since I bought it. I live in Chicago and the 4g has gotten better/faster since I first bought the evo. One app that every evo owner should check out is swift key keyboard. One thing I hope htc makes is a physical keyboard similar to the iphone 4 that I could use to type long things. I bought a freedom pro keyboard and it sucked
@mizank1
Hotspot refers to the ability to to use your phone essentially to tether or act as a router. So if you're out somewhere and need internet on a larger device like a laptop, it can provide wi-fi for that laptop. Mostly a Verizon and Sprint thing.
I've had an EVO and got rid of it specifically because of sprint. Now I have a Captivate and I actually like it more. It fits me more than the EVO and is just more user friendly IMHO.
Hey Noah whats the live wallpaper on the vibrant called?
Thanks
i heard that froyo 2.2 will make the video recording better. is that true?
@Croozer wrong. i am very familiar with iOS and iphones in general. i have used several iphones and use to jailbreak all the time. jailbreaking is nothing impressive and hardly compares to android even out of the box.
My opinion:
1) Evo 4G
2) Vibrant
3) Droid X
4) iPhone 4
I currently own a Evo and previously owned both iPhone 3G and 3GS.
there should be an all Galaxy S phone dogfight Epic 4G, VS Captivate, VS Fascinate, VS Vibrant!!!! :D ...PLEASE!
I got a tmobile galaxy s and i can't stand the touchwiz interface, so im currently running open home on it so its like a standard android device with a pull up menu and everything. I love how fast it is. Makes my old mytouch look like a snail when it comes to speed.
My iPhone4 keeps losing reception when I hold it. What's up with that?
1. Samsung Vibrant
2. Motorola Droid X
3. HTC Evo 4G
4. Apple Iphone 4
Android comes first and then display is the next most important thing to me and the Super AMOLED display is amazing! I had the Droid X but got the Droid Incredible instead because I couldn't stand the LCD display and it was a little big for my pocket. :P
I got a Vibrant to replace my 3G about 4 months ago. I like how much more free the market place is, and I was astonished by it's screen. To be honest, I'm getting a bit bored of it, but that's only because I have too much time to think about it. My family and I have been with sprint before, but the Evo looks nice, but it's on Sprint, I have very little experience with Droid phones, and I would like to play with the iPhone 4 a little, but iOS is no longer for me. It all comes down to preference.
Ok, enough withe touch-only phones. Noah, next Dogfight: Epic 4G vs Droid 2 vs BB Torch vs myTouch 3G Slide.
I think the Vibrant is under rated in this review. The Vibrant is an extremely good phone. Yes the back cover is plastic but the rest of the phone is metal. The resolutions on the Vibrant is second to none. Plus for web surfers, loading webpage on android is faster than the Iphone 4G. Bottom line is the Vibrant has all the feature Iphone has plus more.
How long do you get to keep the loner phones?
wait so if its 2.1 would i be able to update the vibrant to 2.2 in the future when it comes out for it?
1. EVO
2. iPhone 4
3. and 4. i dont really know enough about those other two, but from the facts stated in the video, the Droid X doesnt have a front facing camera and the Vibrant doesnt have Android 2.2
Opps I meant Galaxy S (captivate, Vibrant)...
@jfwalken I'm not saying the hotspot doesn't work, I'm saying the internet speeds won't be good enough. On 3g, that is. I'm sure when 4g is standard and battery life is significantly improved, the mobile hotspot could be practical
i was skeptical about getting the iPhone 4, and hearing the problem with the antenna didn't help either. after the 3gs, i went to the sony ericson xperia x1 (EW), hated that, so i was like oh screw it, ill get the iphone 4. I loooooove it, i dont even get the antenna problem. the screen is so smooth, cameras great, super fast browser, overall an amazing phone. Best I've ever had. I feel like I can never use a droid, is cause i hate the touchscreens for them. apple has the most responsive ones.
@redspade04 what phone did you have it on?
Ugh. Information burn out! I can't keep up. I love my iPhone 4....probably not the best phone, but I am familiar with it and it does the things I need. The Evo 4G looks like it has the most appeal.
wich is better droid x or galaxy s?
For writing? Easily the Galaxy , It has a small vibration when you hit every "button" and also it has swype.
Duuuude no. The Evo 4G is the 'weakest' phone there. I'm not saying it's not a good phone: but the two power horses are the Vibrant and the Droid X. And they aren't even on 2.2. Their huge GPU power mixed with the 1GHz processor makes them a lot snappier especially concerning 3d rendering, such as running the PSX emulator. The Evo however is still a marvelous phone all around.
Where am I getting this from? The Evo 4G gets half the FPS of the Droid X and Vibrant on Kwaak3 Arena (Quake 3 port)
I've had my Iphone 3GS over 1 year. Its jailbroken and unlocked.
I've had my HTC Evo 4G for over 3 months.
In the next week or so, I'm going to activate the Evo and switch it over as my main phone.
Enough said.
I had all four of these Noah is pretty right on except I think the Evo has a way better camera then the vibrant and droid x
hey uhh is vibrant better than evo 4g?
maybe john from phonedog can do one?
I have a Evo 4G, im also in a 4G area so i do take advantage of the 4G service, so that is a plus for me. Of all the features this device has i have to say thou that the mobile hotspot is the best. Im saving close to $50 a month on home internet service because of this. Yes i know that the range might not be the best for a full size home but for my personal needs it works great. For someone in an apartment i think this would be great, and thats value right there.
I never understand why Samsung did not include camera flash for Vibrant and Captivate. But they included it with Epic 4G. WHY!!!!!
wow Noah, way to please just about everyone who has one of these phones by pinning a 'best' title to each one...lol. then again, you are right. iphone 4 does about everything well except making phone calls. I got a Vibrant and I can honestly say it is certainly a best value buy.
i will never buy an iphone....unless it comes to Tmobile then maybe...just maybe I'll try and see what the fuss is all about :-)
I have bought the droid x, iPhone 4, and the htc evo and I have to say the evo is the best phone out of these three.
HTC EVO 2.2 it's solid and it's great
people who talk about the antenna issue in the iphone 4 must have never used one before. since ive had my iphone ive never lost reception. the reception loss is due to death grip, who needs to hold a phone that tight.? honestly
is the samsung galaxy s faster or fast as the IPHONE?
i have an iPhone 3G and im on raincheck for an iPhone 4. I used a Galaxy S for about 3 weeks before giving it back and ordering the iPhone. There was nothing actually wrong with the phone, i mean its a good phone, but somehow it was just underwhelming. It felt both unfinished and unrefined. so there's my personal choice. i'd go for an iPhone over an Android based phone any day :)
that said, i see where android users are coming from, i just like the iPhone better
iPhone app selection is the best but it feels outdated with the tiny 3.5" screen and all the problems with dropped calls and having the person on the other end of the line asking me to repeat myself because i'm "breaking up" when just trying to use the phone normally kills it for me.
I ended up with an EVO 4g and am extremely happy with it, call quality is great and 4g speed is insane, if you tether your phone to a laptop at all the the EVO wins, with 4g it's like being at home on WIFI.
I have my vibrant at 1.6ghz stable running 2.3, it is a performance jugernaut and highly modified, fast as hell.
Own the EVO...love it but one drawback not really mentioned by reviewers much...camera lens sticks out...mine just scratched the other day after just a month...other than that, lovin 2.2 and everything else about it
For movies and eBooks... I would really have to say a big screen is a huge deal-maker. I still can't understand how some people watch movies on those tiny screens... It reminds me of the videos I used to watch on my Nano. In a word, Painful.
@dalesalsa wrong Froyo 2.2 allows you to store apps on the memory card. I have an EVO with 85 apps and she works great. I have an iTouch and much prefer the EVO once you use the BIG screen you will never go back. I also bought a 16GB memory card fr the EVO on Ebay for $20 a new battery charger with 2 batteries fo $10 shipped this gives me a weeks worth of battery life. Also 2.2 Froyo and the FW update greatly extended my battery life plus Spints great and my monthly bill is$25 less than AT&T
Love Sense UI, But don't like the Evo for my area and the Android 2.2 will be coming very very soon. So i'll be sticking to my Droid X. Love it above all the others.
got the evo 4g. had it since it came out and still having a blast with it. network is fast and 4g works well in my area(d/fw) had blackberries and will never get one again because no one i lnow uses those things. either iphone or androids. but all in all EVO FTW!!
@superlinkx18 unless you don't have the 4g service in your area. Sprint's 3g coverage is terrible as well. Verizon has the best 3g service though.
Another Pro for HTC, Droid, and Samsung...they make multiple kinds of phones to satisfy different people. Apple really only makes one kind of iPhone for the masses.
You're on RUclips! I like your tanktop! :-P
Epic 4g or Evo 4g?
I have the iPhone 4. Love it to death. I had many android devices Palme pre and blackberry's and when I finally went to the iPhone 4 I fell in love. But I wish the screen was a 4 inch screen and had a dedicated camera button and had free turn by turn gps. Other than that this device is amazing. I don't have any antenna issues either. But all these devices are great. Yay for everyone with one of these devices. :)
Decent review for the looks and stuffs...but not a great one as it's not detailed in processor and stuff.
Got the evo and loving my decision
how do you do Swype with a double letter like cheese
Which phone has the best web browser?
I've had the iphone4 for a few months now and i have never had a dropped call before. I do live in an area that has great att service but i have also worked for verizon and i would never buy into a verizon phone (i realize that the others are exactly the same). I got to use the droid x and to me it just felt a little rough around the edges while the iphone4 just feels like it is much better quality and much more refined
@AccidentallyFunny agreed. it's so amazingly thin.
@rawrrrOH one of the major reasons i dont like android phones is because it does not have as responsive as touch screen as the iphone 4.
just wait for the ipod touch with a camera to come out, and buy a phone that can actually...well.. be a phone.. you know make calls. I have the Droid X, I've never not had service, never dropped a call with or without the case on, and I can always hear what people are saying and they can always hear me perfectly. With 2.2 in a couple weeks, it'll be hard to beat.
i got the droid 2 two days after it came out. it has pretty good video and pictures i use it to film videos. the only problem ive ever had with the phone was that there are a few bugs wih it because of me geting it only a couple days of its release so they had no chance to update it. im currently waiting for android 2.3(gingerbread) to come in a system update. i think i would be willing to trade for the incredible or x or the samsung fascinate if there are anysuggestions on bug fixes message me
I want to see a dogfight between ios4 vs android 2.2
what's the deal with all the ah, and um?
@kalobad fyi none of the phones here is japanese the motorola is american the htc is taiwanese and the samsung is korean i hope you get your facts right before commenting next time
@Spense626 HAVE U USEED FROYO ON GALAXY S, IT IS BEAST
whats a geeky power user???
Power users root and OC. The geeky power users are distinguished by their custom ROMS. The X with a separate graphics chip running @ 60fps with a longer battery is a powerusers phone, but the locked bootloader is a turnoff to geeks.
i have the htc evo and for me especially is the best phone yet and i think yopu should do a comparison of the o phone 4s vs. htc evo or the htc evo 3d ok thats my comment for me the best phone is the htc evo although you need to pay for the premiun data
i'm actually getting sick of my iphone 4. i really want a android phone now. i need some input on the best android phone for the money.
