My wife got me a Pelican Enforcer 120 for Christmas. Looks and feels like a quality boat. Can't wait for spring to come so I can get out on the water with it. If I like it I'll probably buy a couple more for the family to join me. They are priced right!
If anyone from Pelican is paying attention to this video's comments, you made a very good investment by sponsoring Marty and all of his fans appreciate the support you've given him. I've been a subscriber to his channel for a number of years and two years ago, inspired by this RUclips channel and by Pelican backing Marty, I bought my very first watercraft of any sort, a Pelican Odyssey 100x. Last summer, I bought my daughter a Pelican Trailblazer 100 in a pretty purple color. You make great products. One suggestion, though: an awful lot of people who buy kayaks do so at least in part for fishing (e.g. Zoffinger fans), and your 10-foot open-backed kayaks, like my Odyssey 100x, have a significant design flaw in that rear storage area that limits their usefulness to kayak anglers. The open storage area behind the seat is about an inch too small to fit a standard 16-quart (13"X13") milk crate, which many/most kayak anglers like to install for storage and for mounting extra rodholders. This did not impact me, as luckily, I had a rectangular crate, rather than a standard square one, that did fit that space perfectly, but most people looking to outfit a kayak for fishing probably are going to be pretty disappointed that a regular milk crate (or an identical-sized angling specific one like those made by YakGear) won't fit in their Pelican kayaks.
Hey Marty: Thanks for showing us inside the Pelican factory in Montreal. I live nearby, in Ottawa, and keep as a spare my 10ft Pelican aka Elie sit-on-top (bought years before they began the Catch 120 etc). Best feature: it weighs significantly less than my main kayak, my Tarpon 100.
My first kayak was a Pelican axiom 100x. My first boat was a Pelican Predator DLX! I saw you have one too. I did some pretty cool mods to mine. Would love to show you! Thank you, Pelican for all the fishing fun. Thank you, zoffinger for giving me the confidence to mod my kayak and boat!
Awesome to see how things seem to be falling into place for you. Just bought a Catch 100 in yellow, hoping to take it out around Longboat Key this weekend weather permitting.
That's so cool Marty. Next time I'm down south I hope to do a similar kayak factory tour here in OZ. Ps the video we shot together at your place will be live on my channel in about 3 hours. I hope you like what I did. All the best. and thank you again for your great hospitality and fun times. I really do wish I lived closer. What a great story you told there, it's a shame any people won't click on this video.
I'd like to thank Pelican, for their ability to stay fairly Subdued in their advertising on your channel, that's awesome that they allow you to come to be you, while supporting your vision... So, Thank you Pelican staff. If I need another kayak, I'll definitely be considering a Pelican, which I wouldn't have, without You supporting Marty's Dream!
What a cool video! Just look how far you have come since the little red kayak with the handmade pontoons! You will have a great business very soon my friend!
Like your idea to pre scout good fishing holes at low tide. Set a waypoint with your gps. Make up a detailed map. You can revisit best spots with accuracy at hi tide. Develop a good library of maps and charts of your own. Start from scratch and you won't infringe on anyones copy right. Make for a fun project on the off fishing days. I appreciate how clean your videos are. No bad language. Thank you. I also bought a house in 2005 St. Petersburg. Left it Spring 2014. Now in Victoria, BC . Lots of Kayaks and fishing here.
Should have tried snowmobiling while you were there.. not sure when this was taped but Quebec is a great place to snowmobile or even ice fish!! Living in Michigan its easy to get into the great country north! Keep up the great work!
Awesome! It's actually very interesting to see how pelican kayaks are made. I might check out their website to get a nice little fishing kayak to add to the arsenal.
Looked like a fun trip Marty. Good to see you enjoying life back in the northern lands. I bet the cool Canada temps were a shock to the system. Cant wait to get back to Ruskin and feel the warmth of the sun. February is getting closer every day!
Its too bad you don't see "Candian made" more often! Everything I have seen out of Canada is awesome! Rock on Pelican you are getting me more and more interested in your company the more I see the support! We need a Pelican rep to come down to Florida and show us how Pelican does it! That would be an awesome video!
I did not realize Pelican was in Canada. I am half Canadian. LOL Hey go for it. That is an accomplishment having a major sponsor like that. Be proud. Keep it up.
he definitely is one of the most chill, honest, and coolest youtuber :) love the videos man and don't ever give up on your dreams soon enough your company will be up and running :)
Happy new year Marty! Watched your vids through the last couple years. My love of kayaking started when I tried it on a small 8’ emotion. I looked it up for more user reviews which is how i found your vids when you moded out the 8’ emotion . I later stepped up to a pelican 10’ & love it. So neat to see the pelican factory ! Thanks for sharing & keep on living your dream!
You should be proud of the business, because this is a far cry from cutting your beard. Who knew this is where that video would lead. You are a success in my book. Your videos are 100% proof the "American dream" is still alive, keep it up bro.
Awesome life story so far. Thanks for letting us strangers peer into your mind and your happiness. Where are the dogs when you leave? Stay safe and healthy!
Good on you, Marty. Keep up the pursuit of the perfect dream so that we can all come down and visit you and your wonderful dream come true! I've loved watching your progress over the years, and recommend everybody I can to subscribe to your channel. Cheers brother!
Looks like you and I were both up there on business about the same time and drinking at the same bar. I was staying just around the corner from that bar. Out of the 2 weeks I was there, the sky only cleared up for a single day.
I'm a Hobie rider but my eyes would have pooped out of my head being here, I've become addicted to anything having to do with kayaking. Nice rod Pelican
Just became a Patreon supporter. Been with you since the poor man Kayak videos and, like you, relocated to Florida after growing up in NYC. Looking forward to seeing you through to your dream.
Marty, you are a great rep. for pelican to bring a Canadian brand/product to a very competitive US market. I'd sold my Native propel and ride 135 two years ago, now you've got me thinking about the catch 120.
BONJOUR!!! Marty.....love Canada, love Pelican and love the video. All you needed to do was catch one bass and it would have been an even better trip for you. Good job.
Can't wait to go to Florida and rent a kayak at your business! Best of luck getting it on it's feet, you're doing a great job! Also, seeing all those blank kayak shells made me think that Pelican should sell plain white kayaks that you can paint any way you like... that way you can really personalize it.
I would love to visit there someday as I'm relatively close by (punta gorda) your videos are awesome and so peaceful your an awesome person and I wish you and your future business good luck!
Keep that head up you'll have that business running before you know it. Can't Wait to see you running a successful business, and like always I always enjoy watching your videos.
Love my Pelican Catch 120. I did as much research as I could before I purchased it and that led me to one of your video’s. It helped me make my decision to buy one. Thanks for what you do with your video’s and good luck with your business. I hope it all works out great for you! Just a thought... it would be cool if Pelican would add a rudder or a factory skeg for the catch 120. Also be cool if they came out with a pedal version in the future.
So......you're a NYC transplant to Florida. I'm a Florida transplant to NY. I'm north west of the city about 1 1/2 hrs. On a lake in Sullivan County near Monticello, up in the mountains. Don't own a Pelican, but have a 20yr old Mallard and a 2yr old Ocean Kayak. I predict you will do well friend.
On my 4th kayak and downsized to the 10 fter at 45 lbs for the weight , the difference of 20 lbs is noticeable and feels like I am paddling a sports car vs a suv.
Pelican makes an affordable boat that should last a while, with proper care. I have been in plastics manufacturing since 1978. For my money, I went rotomolded. Weight is not an issue, for me.
My heart (a sucker for marketing) is for a Hobie PA14 to be acquired later this year; once spring arrives in the NE. What would be a comparable yak in the Pelican line to get my brain to argue with my heart? I’m fat, 260lb and 6ft. I fish Long Island Sound, back bays, etc and plan to eventually do some offshore (but always in sight) around Montauk Point. All saltwater applications. What’s Pelican got for me? Thanks Marty for another insightful, appreciative vid.
A man turns a hobby into a living...and still enjoys it! Hat's off to you brother! Keep up the good work!
I'm glad to see that Pelican makes their kayaks in Canada instead of China. Really makes me want to support the company!
My wife got me a Pelican Enforcer 120 for Christmas. Looks and feels like a quality boat. Can't wait for spring to come so I can get out on the water with it. If I like it I'll probably buy a couple more for the family to join me. They are priced right!

You've come a long way from your little red kayak..
been following you for about 3 years now, business is really taking shape...... Good for you..
I used to have one of those early paddle boats that thing was indestructible! Many memories when is seen that!
Great job Marty. I can see the cabins all lined up with a Kayak rack attached to every one. I need to send you another pen. Joe
Marty, it warms my Heart to see you walking out the Dream...!!!!!
I'm glad that you can say that you "get" to go to work instead of I "have" to go to work, you are one very lucky person.
Thanks for living the dream and sharing it Marty. The Pelican boats are light, durable, and inexpensive.
THOSE PELICAN KAYAKS ARE THE BEST they are really light weight and very very strong and make great beginner kayaks too!
I worked there for a few months in the past. Good to see you enjoyed your time in my province. :)
You're a great story Marty. From video one till now, very inspiring.
Oh so cool! I am from Montreal and always pass by Pelican on the 440 , really awesome !!!!

Awesome to see how things seem to be falling into place for you. Just bought a Catch 100 in yellow, hoping to take it out around Longboat Key this weekend weather permitting.
I didn’t know that Pelican was out of Montreal. Very cool Marty glad you got to tour the factory.
Thank you for taking us on that tour, Marty!

@Andy's Fishing
Did Marty record too? I'm watching your video but I'm wondering if he recorded either.
I guess I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Tanner Emery flixportal :)
@Anson Emmitt thank you, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it !!
@Tanner Emery no problem =)
I'd like to thank Pelican, for their ability to stay fairly Subdued in their advertising on your channel, that's awesome that they allow you to come to be you, while supporting your vision...

So glad you have enjoyed my town!
Lost my brand new rod a couple of days ago, but then watching your videos makes me feels way better cheers man.

Yep I have two pelican kayaks. Great little boats
Pelican, it was Zoffinger than brought my attention to the great quality of your products!!
2:16 Reminds me of a printing company I used to work for! Except Pelican is printing Kayaks!
Awesome! It's actually very interesting to see how pelican kayaks are made. I might check out their website to get a nice little fishing kayak to add to the arsenal.

Recently bought my grandson a Pelican Apex100. Nice, light-weight rig for him to learn in.
Hi from Canada ( North bay, Ontario) I really like what your doing. Keep up the good work.
MJP
I picked up a striker 11.5 from pelican absolutely love it!
Its too bad you don't see "Candian made" more often! Everything I have seen out of Canada is awesome! Good action pics of you. Man, great you are following your dream.
I did not realize Pelican was in Canada. I am half Canadian. LOL Hey go for it.
That is an accomplishment having a major sponsor like that. Be proud. Keep it up.
Great video tour and history of Montreal, you should do a video trip of New York where you grew up!
It’s so relaxing watching your videos
he definitely is one of the most chill, honest, and coolest youtuber :) love the videos man and don't ever give up on your dreams soon enough your company will be up and running :)

I actually did some of the communication wiring in that building when they built it. I also winter in Englewood. Small world.
Keep up the good work man..when you open I'll be down there tonight with you and have a nice cold bud light...
Planning on catch'n a Pelican Catch 130 Hydryve sometime in the spring of 2109...
Looks like you and I were both up there on business about the same time and drinking at the same bar. I was staying just around the corner from that bar. Out of the 2 weeks I was there, the sky only cleared up for a single day.

I actually bought a pelican after I saw your videos man! It's great.
Marty, you are a great rep. for pelican to bring a Canadian brand/product to a very competitive US market.
I'd sold my Native propel and ride 135 two years ago, now you've got me thinking about the catch 120.
Awesome video brotha ! Love to see more simple fishing man !
Awesome! so cool to see a kayak factory!
Those sleds are great for ice fishing, but they can be used snowshoeing, or pulled behind snowmobiles, or basically anything else you can think of.
BONJOUR!!! Marty.....love Canada, love Pelican and love the video. All you needed to do was catch one bass and it would have been an even better trip for you. Good job.
Tour of the office trailer😂 and my aunt and uncle live it st pete so hopefully I’ll get to come by. Go luck👍
Can't wait to go to Florida and rent a kayak at your business! Best of luck getting it on it's feet, you're doing a great job! Love the video! i can’t wait to go to your spot and be able to kayak.....Congrats and keep up the hard work.. all the way from Miami...👍🏻🎣
Love your channel mate, I feel very happy for you!
Love my Pelican Catch 120. I did as much research as I could before I purchased it and that led me to one of your video’s. It helped me make my decision to buy one. Thanks for what you do with your video’s and good luck with your business. I hope it all works out great for you!

Awesome kayak acreage !
Great video, thank you Marty!
Holly crap u were close to my house !!!! Hope u injoyed ur stay
Very cool business trip.
hah I saw your pictures on the Pelican website when I bought my catch 100
Do you think Pelican might come out with a Pedal drive kayak? That would be great!
Just picked up a Catch 100 a couple weeks ago. We're going to catch a lot of fish together.
Based on what you showed us Marty, when I do get a kayak, it will be a Pelican.
That’s awesome I hope you enjoy your time in Canada you should try coming back sometime and try ice fishing I think you’d enjoy it
So......you're a NYC transplant to Florida.
I can’t wait until it opens
You might have just sold me on a Pelican. The Tarpon 120 was what I used before, but was too heavy and bulky for me to lift on my car.
On my 4th kayak and downsized to the 10 fter at 45 lbs for the weight , the difference of 20 lbs is noticeable and feels like I am paddling a sports car vs a suv.
Thanks for sharing, great stuff.
Safe travels : )
So, it was too cold in Tampa.
So you went to Canada, to go fishing??
Coming from Canada id love to try out your new business, looking forward to it starting up :)
Pelican makes an affordable boat that should last a while, with proper care.
I have been in plastics manufacturing since 1978. For my money, I went rotomolded. Weight is not an issue, for me.

Thanks Marty for another insightful, appreciative vid.
Did they ask you for any input as far as improvements, ideas or changes? I would think they would. Thanks for the trip.
Zoffinger, you should do a video explaining how you got into RUclips, and how you obtained sponsors along the way. It would be interesting
Very awesome Marty, very awesome!!! 39 is a nice moderate temp. I'll trade ya! :-)
