I think it could be due to more difficulty extending drive shafts - they have to be precisely balanced after welding in an extra segment to prevent vibration. A pretty high-tech procedure, that not every workshop has.. Perhaps the reason isn't technical at all - it just became their style
@@wheelsaroundtheworld I'm guessing style, after market drive shafts are common everywhere, also a V-block makes welding 2 cylinders in line not super difficult.
