If the us loves taiwan so much, why not build formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan?
Because there is no Taiwan as a state. It's Republic of China and that's against one China policy.
US builds formal diplomatic relations with most countries in the world, but only grants the privilege of visa free to some 40 countries, including Taiwan. And, they are all important allies.

What a biased point !! All Russia wanted from Ukraine was for the West to honour the Minsk agreement which Ukraine/France/Germany agreed with Russia..ie that Ukraine not join NATO and be neutral !!!
