    I have been using the canon pro 100 for well over 7 year have been printing on a daily base . When you tried to swap from oem to Third-party Inc. when you use a oem cartridge and try to fill them with third party ink will screw up your print head . Being the oem ink Cartage will react with the ink causing the sponge in the cartridge too hard and like plastic and plug up your print head . But if you start with third party ink in a new printed and use third-party Inc. it works very well as long as there’s no MEO ink in the printhead to prevent any contamination .

    On my Pro 100, I have tryed diferent inks, and I found that with all time spend, and foto paper prices, I will not use cheap third party inks, the PC, and Octoinks UK. I found ok.

    Full of really good information that I would probably find out by buying the wrong ink. Thank you!

    Great video and very informative! I've been printing professionally for about three years now with my Pro 9000 mkII and my customers are always in awe. But with ink prices continuously increasing, my prices go up and people tend to go to big box stores instead.
    I'll give a try to refilling!
    Also, I wish my city offered money back for cartridges. Everyone just throws them away :(

    I used third party inks and they messed printer head by time. I wondering if there is any canon level quality third party brand that I can trust. ?

    I was accidentally ripping ppl off selling them art prints using the generic ink sets, i did a longevity test on 10 prints and most of them faded within 2 months. Nowadays I use a hybrid of OEM and third party, usually i'll do 4 OEM & 4 generic tanks. The quality is good and the longevity is much longer, some prints started fading after 6 months, others are still going strong after a year using my OEM & generic batch. Price per print is way cheaper though i've heard you shouldn't mix OEM & third party ink but so far everything's fine.

      I'm afraid you're still ripping them off. Unless you are telling them that it will last no longer than a year.

      @@istvann.huszar420 Most of my prints still look good a year and a half later... plus I sell each print dirt cheap.

    Funny enough, my Canon pro pixma wont take orginal ink to print. It cant read it og cant recognize it. Instead I now use Third party ink, and now All is good

    Thank you for sharing this & the unclogging a Canon head video. I’m curious what type of images you print for sale? Also off topic I was wondering do you metal detect? I saw the coins behind you and wondered if you do. It’s something I’d like to try after 50 years wishing I had one. Thanks for any feedback. Dave in Reading, PA.

    Great post! Quick question: Can I get OEM Canon refillable cartridges Or do I have to drill hole in used cart to make them refillable?

    What do you do about frames? I'm starting a print service that specializes tn 13x19 prints. Some are multiple panels to make a print, so a 6 or 8 panel print gets really expensive.

    Could I please get a link to the clear plastic bins you use to store your ink carts with the clips on in? I'm looking for a way to store my carts in a way they won't make a mess on the off chance they leak.

    Iv heard only good things about precision colors ink. Have you noticed prints made with that fading quickly? That's my only concern. I figure if you varnish the print with a spray or frame it (or both ) that prints using precision colors ink would hold up

    • @HillBrosTech
      @HillBrosTech  4 года назад +1

      Yes, they fade too. I'm going to be running some tests on inks in a future video.

      @@HillBrosTech How long does it take PC to fade? I would like my prints to last at least a year so if they don't hold up that long there's no point in buying a refill set from them.

    I know people stress the OEM cartridges, but I've always bought my third party cartridges from Inkproducts and the sponges have always held ink well. Been using them for years. You put just a bit in the reserve tank first and let it take that ink into the sponge, then you fill the reserve tank up. Keeps the sponge saturated. It doesn't work as well if you try to just completely fill the reserve tank in one swoop. That's been my experience anyway, but never heard anyone else use or comment on these carts.

    I'm confused, he keeps referring to OEM inks, I think he's meaning Canon mftrfd inks. But OEM actually means Other End Manufacturer, which is manufacturers that are not canon, or am I wrong. I would like clarification so I purchase the correct product??

    • @HillBrosTech
      @HillBrosTech  3 года назад

      OEM means: original equipment manufacturer, in this case Canon Inks are OEM.

    • @kathrynmachol4676
      @kathrynmachol4676 3 года назад

      Thank you for clarification. For years, I've been thinking that OEM meant Other End...
      ANOTHER QUESTION, PLEASE. I'm getting ready to purchase a Canon Imagegraf? TA-20 or 30, for wide prints. Does your same advice hold true on ink for these printers as well? I haven't looked into the ink process yet for these printers, so just thinking maybe I can purch same ink set ups for both my Canon 100, and my new wide format?

    Seems the 3rd party is the easy way to go. I care less about longevity.
