I know this is old, but on the in ear monitors, there is a huge range of price. I don't have custom molded ones, but the ones I got came with 4 sizes. The XS ones fit well and are comfortable. You can also buy just tips to find ones that work for you. My IEMs were only a bit above $20. They block out a good amount of sound (similar to the muffler headphones I have), I'd guess the 26 dBa claim on them is about right. I bought some over ear mufflers that I put over the IEMs while practicing. It does not work in an additive way for sound reduction, but I would guess I get another 10 dBa of reduction with those. I just want to take my hearing seriously with drumming. These two items allow me to practice with much less noise. Good series BTW. I am working on these things (I have the book). As a self taught drummer, this (limb independence) was something I was unaware that I was so bad at.
That's smart! For cutting out sound I've been using just some filtered ear buds and then my over the ear headphones on top of it. I'll look into more IEMs on a budget. Thanks for the info! Hearing is #1 Thanks a lot! It's a whole beast, independence is a forever challenge
This is a good exercise your are showing, I will try it. Syncopation #2 is a orange/brown cover. I have the blue book, #1. I am having trouble with the first exercise in #2, page 5. How do you hit the hats on 2 and 4 when the music has your right hand doing other drums, unless you do left hand hat. ?
Hey Kate! Thanks a lot! I've only seen the 2nd book, I don't own it. This was just pt. 2 of my syncopation series so this is all referring to the first, more popular book. As for hats on 2 and 4, that depends. I would say if it is showing actual stick hits on the hats then yeah I would say it must be with the left hand if you are playing other patterns with the right. However, if it doesn't indicate that it's a stick hit, I would probably just play the hats on 2+4 with my left foot like you would keep time in jazz or latin.
That intro🔥👏😂
I had Ted Reed’s Bass drum book . Lost it. Thanks for reminding me that Progressive Steps to Syncopation covers EVERYTHING!
Literally everything too, it's crazy
You need respect man! Great work!
Thanks a lot man! I appreciate it!

@@TomPompei Thank you so much. That was definitely an experienced response, better than I could think of. That is what I will do. Hats off to you!
