This is great and informative! I’m going to purchase some Goodeids. I had never heard of them until recently. I love that you are helping to keep the endangered fish alive for future generations :-)
Although not mentioned on the list, we currently have Skiffia multipunctata in the shop. Locally bred, the males are showing some amazing yellow and black splotches.
Wow nice list man! I especially love the colours on Iloyodon Furcidens and the tequila species! Never kept Goodeids but will try them out one day. Just not readily available in Australia haha! Awesome work as always FTB! 👍
I personally keep Xenotoca Melanosoma and I would not recommend them for beginners. but their behavior and color is absolutely stunning, you just have to separate their fry. As they will eat them.
You’re right on the money Mike. I’ve kept all these species at one point and always elk those that I pas Xenotoca to that the most important part of the fish is it’s location. The 1 species I would have added is Skiffia multipunctata since it’s like the francesae but has the color patterns on the males. But I’m biased since it’s one of my favorites too.
Thanks! I would put the multipuntata on the second tier of this list. I have struggled a little to bit to breed that fish. I would agree that it does have stunning color patterns.
I’m starting out with a group of Butterfly goodeids, and a group of the Redtail (doadrioi) goodeids! Super excited. They’ve been settling in over the last month or two pretty well! What amazing fish!
Thanks for the video - I'm a new fishkeeper, but I'm currently looking at getting some Xenotoca Doadrioi for a breeding project. They'll be my most expensive fish purchase (mostly due to shipping) so I really hope they prove worth it.
If you keep Goodieds be sure to Keep All information about their collection Point . I have many and really not so hard to find if you know where to look
@@FishTankBarn Extremely important with Goodeids. I see far too many at club auctions with no information. We have a few aquarium strains but ones we have Location on are kept separate if I have same species . All locations here are written on each tank
@@kjeaquatics It seems to be pretty good here in Michigan with the location info. I keep mine on the tanks as well as in a google sheet that I can access from my phone.
Could you tell me please at what age Ilyodons gain these intense yellow-blue colors? Mine are about 3 months and barely have any colors except silver/grey body with some patterns made of black spots. Thanks!
I can’t really answer that for sure. Depending on the strain, some are more yellow than others. There is a variant that was breed to have more yellow. If I were guess (purely a guess) it would be 6-8 months.

Thank you. I hadn't ever looked into these and had never heard of them.
Your welcome! They are very cool fish!

Thank you Brian for the kind words. Happy to hear that you are getting into Goodeids

Thanks Ian, I would put the multipunctata on the second tier of the list. I have not found them as easy to breed as some of the others.
Very useful. Thank you for this.
Your welcome. Glad this video could help you.
Great video!!
Thank you Biologia!
Great vid! I usually write these off but your making me second guess getting some 🤔
Thanks Lucas! Hopefully you will be able to get some at some point.

Thanks Lazarus! They are a little bit hard to come by in the US as well. Hope that you are able to find them some day.

I have some of those as well. Mine are small right now. Looking forward to getting them colored up

Nice Guppy-Gal! Glad they are settling in for you
Great video, Mike! Really enjoy learning about the various fish you keep and recommend.
Thanks TJ! Glad you enjoy the videos
I got xenotoca doadrioi from another hobbyist. They are awesome. They act really weird when spawning.
Doadroi are one of my favorites. That's interesting, what type of behavior are seeing when they spawn.
I have 3 of those 6 and I love them. I will find the others eventually. Great video 👍👍👍
Thanks Skull! You will find them eventually
I know a guy lol
Great Video Mike
Thanks Buddy! I need to stop by one of the Thursday night streams one of these days. Unfortunately have been a little busy
Great video, suscribed

Your welcome Lucas! Sorry for the delayed reply. Just be patient and you will be successful
There just really beautiful fish. Any chance you sale fish? Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately I don’t ship. I do sell occasionally at auctions in the metro Detroit area.

100% Agreed. I didn't cover it here (probably should have in hindsight) but I do cover it in my care guide video

@@FishTankBarn Thank you! I see they become a little bit more colorfull when fed with good quality and diversified diet. Cheers!
No one ships to Canada. Looked for many years already and no one will send these fish.
Sorry to hear that.
