That ending though. The drummer did justice to it. Amazing!

Clear evidence for that the drumists conduct jazz big bands. Exceptional performance of all.

And the woman employed as “conductor” is just hanging around, pretending?

@@carlthorellstein53 For this performance, my answer is yes. For many high pace jazz songs, the orchestra is extremely well trained to perform, so they only have a synchronizer, which is usually the drummer. Buddy Rich was an exceptional figure on this subject.
On the other hand, Miho seems to be weaker on stage as a conductor. She is grammy awarded as a composer, but not as a conductor. Maybe she selects and rearranges the songs, and instructs the band during preparation, which is vital, but when on the stage, as I watched each of her performances in DR Big Band, she resembles an elementary school music teacher. There is a great room for improvement. Whatever, I like to listen this band. 😉

@@cihanatilnamli I'm no expert, as it sounds like you are. However, I have a hard time believing that they would pay her to conduct, and that she would say yes, if it was not helping to heighten the musical level. I get that drummers like Buddy Rich could conduct, since he played with his own band, and was the leader of it. Just like Duke Ellington could conduct his big band from the piano. In the same way, I think Miho is the DR Big Band's conductor. Pasborg undoubtedly has time and knows his stuff, and I'm sure he assumes more of a conductor role as the drummer of Ibrahim Electric, but here he's a side-act who brings something new to the table, but without assuming control of the band

@@carlthorellstein53 As I agree mostly with you, maybe the perceived meaning of the word "conducting" is varying from people to people. I mostly mean physical act of the orchestra head, because during preparation, it is obviously told for conductors that, if you are not okay with your orchestra, try to align/justify it to you, if this is not possible, change yourself or quit. As being not totally sure of the thoughts of orchestra members, I would like to hear from them once. Regards.
