  • Wonderful to walk the foreshore with Nicola White, the Mudda of Mudlarking. It was through Nicola's RUclips channel @nicolawhitemudlark that I was introduced to Mudlarking. A fantastic and fascinating channel.

I stumbled across her videos as well so now I am hooked. I watched one of her videos where she went to Scotland for a friends party and while she was there she did a mudlark video in that village. it inspired me so I flew over from the USA, booked a place and went mudlarking where she did! Found a pipe bowl, I was so excited! Just amazing history. Thank you for sharing this video.

The salt from the water is what causes the iridescent color on the bottles. If you could see through things like pipes, or coins you would see the same thing on those pieces also. When they dry out, the salt also dries out and will fall off in flakes. So beautiful!!

Thank you David for making this video of you and Nicola. She is absolutely lovely and I've been a subscriber of hers for years. And, even though I live half a world away from the Thames, I am eager to fulfill my personal dream of obtaining a Thames Foreshore permit from the Port Authority. I wish they would lift their pause on them, I've been waiting two years so far. It's difficult to keep a passion at bay, especially when I've been visiting London.

I've been subscribed to her channel for several years... she is indeed the "Queen of Mudlarks"! As the grandson of a North Carolina tobacco farmer (and a WWII veteran, now passed on into glory) who farmed the same land that his GGG Grandfather farmed since coming over from Scotland in the mid 1700's... I wonder if any tobacco my family grew ever ended up in a pipe found by MS. White... possible, but maybe not probable... Cheers!

Nicola is the best at mud larking and I enjoy watching to see what she turns up! I've also thought that the little bit of tobacco may have been grown in the N.C. colonies! At one time, in history, our Old North State produced a large part of the world's finest tobacco! Hello, my fellow North Carolinian!!!

I love the history of the Thames and the objects you find. I was pleased watching you and Si with the Peaky Dipers They are a good bunch of people and they find the history of the pieces. Thanks for my virtual mudlarking Nicola

    This was a supreme video.
    Why?
Because it was a supreme interview.
I know Nicola, she is a dear friend, and you lovingly extracted, like a clay pipe out of the mud, answers from her.
    Champion,TFTF😅
What do I love the most about mudlarking?
I love the certain element of silence, despite a raging, bustling metropolis lingering above the green line above my head, that algae, which marks high water.
I love the art of looking down, that search(which I am not very good at,eyes untrained),but also looking up.
You must understand, the art of looking up is perhaps alien to the native Londoner.
Look up,there is the city in the sky.
At any given moment, there are 1million human beings in the sky.
I treasure that thought,as I look down onto the mud,and make my humble amateur finds.
I always think up and down.
    It’s important.

Nichola, when you show the skyline of London and all those “high rise buildings “, I think of you as the only one of all those office workers, but you are the one who is TRULY FREE! You are the only person that I would want to be out of those thousands and thousands of people in those towers. And you know it!!! Keep doing what you love and I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that. I’m 67 years old and my fantasy has been and still is to move to England. But that is a story for another time. May I wish you continued great videos of the things we both love. Love from America. And if a certain MAGA is elected next November…….. I am contacting a real estate broker to make my dream come true!!!!!

In depth interview, how interesting and fun questions. Since mudlarking has become so popular is it getting harder to find things? Are they getting so picked over that you are finding less worth taking home to investigate? Michigan USA is curious!
