Thanks for detailed review. We've had a GC 600 for 2 years, 20k plus miles of touring and generally love it. By the way you don't have to open cab door to swivel captain chairs; just raise seat and spin round, sometimes needs adjusted fore or aft according to start position. The rear bed solutions have been suggested already and work fine for us. Driving is a dream. The only problems we have had are with auto step, replaced under warranty now working and the fridge door also replaced. Off grid the leisure battery lasts less than 24 hours unless in direct sun and you have solar. We use an Ecoflow cell as back up and have extra solar panels to charge the Ecoflow. This month we have arranged to trade up to a 680 just for extra space and a larger bed that runs length ways in van. Will have diesel heater option to allow longer off grid.
Looking at buying one of these for the extra space. But a lot of people are saying the same thing about dumping of water if its gets cold. I do alot of off grid camping. So dont want to loose my water. And the side step also is an issue? Not sure if there worth about 100k? Might just stick with my vw t6.1 ?
I didn't understand a point. At 3:48 you say that in the back all electric points only work when you are pluged in. Are you saying that lights and fridge doesn't work if you stay at night elsewhere without an electricity point?
They meant all 220V plug points in the back only work when the van is plugged in. All USB and 12V in the back are working all the time. Lights and fridge also of course.
Apart from the toilet I’m not sure what it gives you over the California Ocean. The space up front is a little cramped and definitely doesn’t have the flexibility of a smaller van. Great review guys.
I think if you can afford it, you only use it as a camping vehicle and you need the space, then why not. If it's an every day round around and you're doing more than just camping than the California is perfect for that, asI agree it does give you more flexibility. Thanks a lot for watching
I think if you watch this video back the answer to the mattress problem is there for you to see rather than fold it over put it diagonally it should solve the problem
Good review guys - we're so on the fence with this one. We love the Grand in size, layout etc (alternatives out there, but it's a solid choice). But the height is a real worry for us in terms of use. We use our California Ocean as a daily, but we really get frustrated with having to disassemble the entire bench seat (ie taking out the kids chairs, etc) just to be able to setup the bed. Looks like a far easier setup for camping; but more restrictive for daily use.
Appreciate it guys ✌🏽I mean for an every day vehicle, personally It would be a struggle for us due to the nature of it's size. We had a couple of times we had to find alternative parking due to it's height and even the length it'll hang out of most car parking spaces. In terms of camping it's a dream, the space is great, it's everything you want. I'm not sure how practical it would be as a every day vehicle but I'm sure there are ways around it. ps. We love the California Ocean too!
Nice Review thank you. I think the facilites are good. But I have to say that the internal design and colours are quite sterile and boring. It looks like more an ambulance than a family Campervan. Def not my cup of tea.
German campervans are know to be the best in the world ie Westfalia, Hymer etc But VW have a way to go in terms of practically, and functionality, sadly , but engine wise they are spot on

Your water will still dump when it goes to low temps 😢
This is the best review explanation of a caravan I have ever come across!!! well done!!
Excellent review guys, we’ve just bought one and awaiting delivery, your review has really helped.
Best practical and honest van review I have ever seen. Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for the tour. We are thinking about upgrading from our Ocean 🚐👍
Put the lower mattress upright, then the larger mattress will stand a little lower

Thanks for the review. I may of missed it but how much space is there for the main bed, is it a double or larger? No oven I guess?
how does it sound? when it go through pot hole?
Really good!Thank you!
Good video guys, keep it up!
Appreciate it! Thank you!

What's the ceiling height in these things?
On the verge of pushing the button to buy , you tipped the balance 👍great review
Thanks for the great review ❤
Try to swivel the chair with the handbrake in an upper position.....that's the main reason why the handbrake in all motorhomes is like this ;)
Makes perfect sense! Thanks!

Thanks for your very useful observation. Unfortunately that didn’t work. Does it work for you?
Good review, thx
Fab as always ❤
Thanks!
Amazing thanks
Is it a four-wheel drive? Please release it in South Korea as well.
They are also available as 4motion (4 wheel drive) option.

@@northsouthtravels An update - picking ours up on Wednesday! Thanks again for the video!
good job ! guys
Yes great easy listening review....👍
Fab review, lovely van …. But lots of money..😢
The Grand California doesn’t feel as well thought-through as the California Ocean (table, fold-up rear bed, etc)

German design at its finest. And a bathroom that is 10 years behind the other makers (no separation glass or curtain or floor slats). Such a shame.

There are special wallpapers available, even with your own motives, you can put on the sterile walls.

Thank you, beautiful car to travel
Good review but I really find the van is sterile and lacking personality.

Can't trust this review to be honest and unbiased if the VW UK company "loaned" the vehicle.
What details in the video do you have difficulty trusting ?
