    If it’s truly a block heater, you are only heating the coolant and upper engine block around the cylinder walls. Very little residual heat gets to the oil. But having the meat Al surfaces above heated helps the engine combustion for easier startup. Then the oil will heat rather quickly.
    If the hub is seized to the axle, loosen the bolts and run the tractor with them loose for a while. Usually that will break it free. Just keep it monitored.

    This is the real world and we appreciate you for keeping it that way. You can plan all you want on projects but we all have had to make another trip or two 😊back to the parts store. Hopefully you can find a porta power to make moving the tires easier. Had to heat up the axle to move the tires on a case tractor before and it was a pain in the rump. I’ve watched for a while now and I know you guys will get it ready by spring time.

    The never-ending saga of buying the WRONG PART enhancing optimum delay time to return needed equipment to work. On the upside, it does promote development of patience!! LOL God bless you guys!! You certainly are worthy of it! ❤❤

    Moving wheels on an older tractor is nearly always an adventure especially when the tractors you work on are as old as you are. You may not have experienced that with your dad's John Deeres but even he has some older tractors like the M and the Oliver. A little rust goes a long way when those things sit for a while. Dealing with older tractors will teach us patience if nothing else. Can't wait to see your tractor with duels.

    A friend of mine had a 8920 magnum that had a heater we plugged in on the transmission in the winter also. Not sure if all the magnums had them or not. Or you could make up a shorter hydraulic hose put that in one of the hydraulic banks pull the lever back and let the hydraulic fluid recirculate to warm up the transmission when it’s cold. God bless

    I have enjoyed watching you get this tractor set up for your needs. It should be a great asset to your business.
    I was curious if you could share what you use for your general filming camera. More than likely you spent conservatively 😆 I am looking for one to make training videos on our dairy in Utah. Also I want to use it to compress time like you do. In one twenty minute video you get several days worth of work done. I need to get more done in the allotted time that I have…..🤣. Thank you for all you do from a fellow dairyman.

  • @aaronwilson4083
    @aaronwilson4083 14 часов назад

    I would say the Magnum has a Coolant Heater in the water jacket of the engine block, I could hear the familiar "sizzle" of the heating coolant when you had the camera near it. A dairy near us recently lost part of an equipment shed, tractor, forage wagon, mower, and 4 wheeler. Fire was assumed to have been started by a the block heater on the tractor. You may want to glance at the block heater cords on your John Deere's. I just replaced the one on our 6310 last week, the insulation was broken on 2 of the wires at the elbow that connects at the element! Fire waiting to happen! I always like to use a block heater if I can plan ahead of time usually 2 hours is sufficient heating time, engines start like it's the hottest day of the summer. The fire hazard does make me a bit leary of leaving them plugged in for long periods of time, especially unattended.

      I've had good luck with those magnetic heaters on the oil pan. I have one on my old 7.3 Ford, and it works really well. Also have one on a 3020 JD, and that works well too.

  • @oldironmm

    On some Magnums there is also a heater for the transmission. I would see them when I worked at a dealership. Some did and others didn't. To check look on the left side under the hyd. filters. They usually had a cap on them to cover the plug end if it doesn't then there's just a pipe plug screwed into the transmission. Just thought I'd pass that along. Good luck.

    Aaron,I seen on another channel where someone ran a heavy chain through a wheel that wouldn’t budge and used a hydraulic jack laying sideways on the end of the axle to push on the chain and move the wheel. Might be worth a try,just be careful.
