Great to see an experience from a novice racer, which is what we could all relate to realistically despite our unrealistic expectations of our driving skill!
An honest explanation of the feelings & emotions present before, during & after such a race. Anyone who tells you they have no level of anxiety or nerves before a race is well full of BS. Looks like a great experience!
What a great episode and credit again to you for giving it a good go and Radical for offering you the seat. I’ve driven the SR1 and 3 around Silverstone and unless you’ve tried a high downforce car like this it’s hard to imagine the braking and cornering loads you can generate from such a car. I’d love one for track days and I’m still saving Can’t wait to see how you get on with the SR10 which I expect has the acceleration I’m more use to coming from bike track days
The thing about racing and why some people avoids the idea of going on a race track is an instant eureka moment when you realize that you cannot drive... But once you learn how to drive something happens which takes the joy of driving on public roads.. All you think is about is a next track day.
Very enjoyable and relatable experience - and I've only done track experiences! But you've conveyed what it's like better than others do that are on TV, and where you make mistakes whilst learning.
Wow that SR10 is going to be a massive leap in performance and at Portimao at that. Can’t wait for that video. May be testing a SR3 this summer, not much in the way of SR1s in North America. Wish they had more series in North America running radicals. Great video series.
Even in an era that is starting to be dominated by loads of EV, the speed of a Radical is bonkers :D.1:34 that must of been alarming to see :O. I hope we can see more epic racing :)
It's very interesting, and also a little scary, watching someone who is not a racer go through this experience. There's something to be said for those who do/want to race in that they have the desire and thought process of a racer, as opposed to those who don't really think that way. I'd argue that being that far off the pace is potentially dangerous for the rest of the grid.
What everyone really wants to see is Mr. Two Watches getting lapped by Henry and Alex in the same car/race, and to show how much of a gap there is in skill et between the three of them.
@@Mockle07 my "advice" is from a racing instructor and championship racer.... Can't get much more pro than that. How often do you see racers slam the pedals? How often do you see racers slam the wheel left/right to turn? You don't. Drivers know that will end up in a wall. How often do you see racers being overly twitchy, nervous and tense?
@@willstokes7266 Firstly Will, I’m just messing about… follow your own advice and relax a bit. 👍🏻 Secondly, of course you don’t see drivers doing those things but as a racing instructor I’m sure you’d agree that it’s perfectly normal for a first time racer to make all of those mistakes? Thirdly, what exactly is a “championship racer”? Which Championship?

Drew, could tell how chuffed you were at the end of that first days racing🎖️🤘🙏
Reminded me of my first bike trackday ( Silverstone) years back.
Great video! It’s a great introduction to ‘what it’s really like!
Incredibly honest assessment - you could see the highs and lows all the way around. You can see it's already a case of when and not if
Looks like a barrel of fun. Who needs F 1?!
1:33 an enclosed cockpit would be nice at that moment. 😳

I envy you so much for this... I wish I can get this weekend as a gift for my birthday once.
Must be SO exciting - great video 👍😎

Racing is dominated by EVs? or even road going cars? Maybe I’m missing something
I hope the SR1 will be my next car for trackdays
next time send the guy that talks during the race!

A 1-2 second lap time differential is nowhere near big enough to be dangerous.
@@Trendyflute Agreed, i was basing it off the first sessions, what was the difference to the leaders though? not the next slowest.
Nuts of steel for mine.
Loved this.

WELL DONE DREW!! 👍👍👍👏👏
Hi, so what’s the cost of racing the entry level Radical at the weekend ? It would be good to know as it’s recommended as a good starting point.
more than 10k per weekend
From memory it’s in the 40-50k mark but I think you get to keep the car. Radical will know
What happened to the monthly Henry and Drew Q&A’s in back room ?
what dies he mean at 11:53 when he says he "missed" the checkered flag??
Cool
This was better entertainment than most F1 races of the last 10 years. Thanks.
very cool car
I’m jealous 😉
1 second slower? Looks more like 12 secs ! 10% ...lol

Your reaction when the rear panel flipped off both times left me feeling nervous about how fidgety you were being. Just chill man.
Yeah he was very tense and nervous that was clear as water. Smooth is fast, relax a bit
😂 I’m sure he’ll be over the moon to be getting free advice from you pair of pro racers 👌🏻

Never been a fan of this guy. Completely flat presentations and not particularly engaging. Don't know what else to say other than.... "meh".
Try golf
Definitely will fit his physique 😂
