- Everyone, calm your crotches. This is the American dubber for Luffy from One Piece. Sorry to disappoint. Now, calm the fuck down. All the comments like "That's just a shitty American voice actor" make me angry. So, I'd appreciate if comments were only positive.

Well for me one piece isn't one piece without Mayumi Tanaka
She has an impressive vocal range.
She usually voices sexy female characters, but it is no surprise that she can take on young and teenage boy voices as well.
She makes Luffy sound energetic and young without sounding annoying or over the top, unlike Erica Schroeder.

I love the English dub of One Piece its actually really well done! I'm sure the Japanese version is good, but sometimes I don't want to have to read subtitles and the English dub does an awesome job.

I watch Japanese to English 50/50 i just watch whatever series the way i started it if a friend shows it to me in Japanese or i find one in english etc. i do appreciate when people dont hate on english for no reason though because this voice actor is really good and i especially love christopher sabat for zoro :D

Some people enjoy being able to catch onto subtle jokes and hints in voice. It is difficult to listen for sarcasam and emotion when your initial language is english, because Japanese and Chinese are tonal languages, meaning that one cannot pick up on emotion through means of change in tone throughout a sentence. However, in English, it is said that the majority of communication is through the physical posture and tone in which the sentences are said. Being able to speak some Japanese and Chinese with my first language being English, I prefer the English because I can understand what point is trying to be reached, and I feel that alot of that is missed because English speaking anime watchers want to be cool and watch it "subbed".

I have usually found its based off of which way I started off watching the anime. I watched all of the subbed and dubbed for One Piece and Naruto but seeing as I began with sub for both it was what I preferred. You get used to hearing those voices for the peeps. Albeit. In the case of Naruto I just found the early voice of that orange haired ninja to be grating until later seasons, which was why I immediatrly swapped back to subbed.
I feel as if picking up on tonal inflections in subbing isnt all too hard. It seems as if there are some similar tones to recognizing emotions.
Other animes I began on dubs and when I went over to subs it just felt off hearing the different voices. I kinda have forgotten half of what I have watched though, so I couldnt state an opinion for a lot of ones I have watched.
I enjoy both, but it took me a while to get use to the voices.
Just because we love the English voice actress doesn't mean we automatically dislike the Japanese voice, in fact, I've never even heard it lol because it is not mean for me it is meant for people who can understand Japanese and react to it, and not to some dweebs who read subtitles with no understanding to Japanese
Listen up! 1. I don't even live in Japan, and a japanese voice actor coming to North America is just a silly illusion. 2. I made this video for the people who do enjoy english dub, not for the jackasses who bash it. 3. Making a "threat" dosen't defend your opinion nor make you look good, in fact, it makes you look worse. Later! XD
I usually prefer Japanese Dub, but some Anime sound good in English, too, like One Piece, to me atleast. (idk, my opinion)
Don't feel defensive for liking Dub. I like dub more in some anime than I do sub. As for OP I honestly love both. I like Sub more in some parts and sometimes I like dub more. It depends on the moments.

I hate reading subs when i watch animes.. I used to watch one piece in Chinese, but now I cant find any online.. English voice actors aren't as good, but still better than reading the subs.

If you watched the two side by side you can tell huge differences. Inflections, mannerisms, actual dialog being mistranslated to cater to different audiences. Its blatant and its rampant in every episode. Not to mention most of the character including Luffy sound like utter dogshit compared to the sub voices. So take your uneducated neckbeard ass back to your mammas basement and watch the sub and dub and then come back here to try to talk shit. Smell ya later

Wow 8 years ago .. a lot has happened since, people died, I went to university, my father got sick and I got a new borther! he is about 7 now.
I've been through real stuff, and still for now to this moment while writing this comment. I just want to make my family happy and I'm trying my best, so hard that it acutally hurts.
